They called at 10:30 PM last night, awakened me -- when I answered, thinking it must be a family emergency and unable to read my caller ID without my glasses, they hung up.

Got a call from this number on Jan 8. I wasn't home and they left a message on my answering machine. Stupid idiots probably thought they were talking to a person. Couldn't understand a word they were saying...I tried replaying the message a few times, even turned the volume up, couldn't make out what the moron was saying. Caller ID said Shirley Stoney. Creeps.

Got the same phone call at 11:00pm. This has happened twice this week. The first time it happened scared me thinking when the phone rang was something happened to someone in my family when I answered the phone they told me there was something wrong with my computer, I asked them if they knew what time it was and they said yes. I told them not to call again said goodnight and hung up. Then they called again last night.

same JAG 0ff$ that call from " Marsh, McLennon " at 212-345-6251, obviously a highjacked number from a bunch of anal warts on the anus of society that, like other parasites, must prey upon the working public to survive. (Sounds like the folks in government, don't it?) To corrupt to give a real name on caller ID, I suggest that you put "criminals" in the "caller company" slot below as 800notes doesn't have a category listed for these dirtbags.

I've been receiving 3 or 4 calls a week from 989-792-0535.  There's been both male and female Indian (Asian) sounding "techs" from Microsoft Certified blah, blah.  They want the user to get in front of their computer and run commands.  First to prove they are "legit",  they ask the user to run an assoc command.  The tech misrepresents the output to his benefit and asks me to connect to their servers.  Raised a red flag and I hung up.

If you want to talk about the call you can contact me.

Caller id showed:  STONERSHIRLEY (and the number)

On 1/14/2015, my (89 year-old) mother got a call from these people asking about her Windows computer.  Since she uses a Mac, she got confused and told them to call back to speak to me.

At 9:12 PM-EST (!!!), a Stoney Shirley (989-792-0535) called and I picked up.  A man with a very heavy accent started speaking to me, saying he was from Microsoft and that there was a problem with my Windows computer.  I listened for about 15 seconds and then it dawned on me, "Oh my God!  You're a scammer!" and hung up the phone.  He was saying, "No, No, I swear" by the time it clicked into the base.

Who ARE these people and how do we press charged against them?  Or failing that, how do I block these calls?

Most of the people who run these scams are located in 3rd world countries where scamming dumb Americans is not a crime and local police do not cooperate with US law enforcement.  They cannot be caught or charged.

Ask your phone provider how to block the calls.

I just had the best time with "Ashton," whose accent started as British and by the end of our 6 minutes together was very Indian. As I sat on my couch, I told him that I did, in fact run over to my computer, that I pressed the Windows key and the letter "R" (so he could get me to run some remote access software), etc. it did take 6 minutes because I kept asking him if the two buttons had to be pressed at EXACTLY the same time, or if one could go first. Finally, I couldn't help myself and broke out laughing and asked if people actually fall for this scam. He said some did, then yelled at me for wasting his time. I reminded him that he called me, he called into question the marital status of my parents, and we each went on our merry way. I love calls like this when I have too much free time!!

I received a few calls from 989-792-0535. Two calls had long silence when I picked up, so simply hung up. Third call was missed, and simply showed as a missed call.

If these people were actually smart, they would realize that THEY are the -virus-. But I guess it's beyond them... as who in their right minds would make lame calls to so many people with such a lame story. Sort of like they are back in the MS-DOS era, when computers were so 'mystical' :) :) Quite funny.
