16 Ways You Can be Phone Scammed

I had dealt with "toner phoners" ever since the early 1980s. I can't believe people still fall for it almost 40 years later. If you answer phone calls for a business, NEVER EVER give out or confirm the make and model number of ANY of your office equipment. Toner can be bought inexpensively online from a legitimate seller. No cold caller can do better, even if they claim otherwise. Don't be afraid to be rude--just hang up on them. Simple as that.

Man oh man...I feel like all scammers in the universe call my number!  Car warranty for my dad, (deceased) calls for "grandma"  not what the kids call my mom!  Spoofing, what a pain in the butt!  BTW if you get an email that just doesn't feel right, PLEASE DO NOT call the number listed.  Look it up!  My personal favorite, the young man who called said he was in a car accident got arrested and needed me to talk to his lawyer.  He called me "grandma" not what the kids call me, said he would call right back.  The lawyer called, hello this is your grandsons lawyer... man oh man   Thank you 800notes.com

Why don't the phone companies that issue the problem (scammers/phishing) phone numbers take care of the problem makers?? Please don't say $$. It causes more bad than good!!

I do the same, but had an friend who I trusts message me on Messenger telling me that she had applied for a grant and just got a lot of money and that I should apply for it to, I even googled the company (DFID)
and seen that was a foreign country that gave grants. That was not my friend who messaged me but someone who stole her identity from Facebook and her contacts. I had given them a lot of my information and took me a week to put flags and and tougher questions to protect myself.

LOL... maybe you "can't think of anything else" but the scammers are thinking up 16 more!

A trusting one?

If a bill collector sues you in court, and you don't appear, the judge can issue a warrant for your arrest for contempt of court. When you are arrested and put in jail, how long you stay in jail will be entirely up to you. The quicker you pay, in full, everything the court states that you owe, the quicker you get out of jail.

You ARE aware that there are mail-thieves who work at the US Government Post Office, aren't you ? Or are you one of the many credulous people who unthinkingly believe that all government employees are honest and respectful of civilains' private property and privacy ? Know this: if you have a mail box at a UPS Store, and an employee steals your mail, the manager will investigate and hold that employee accountable, including firing him/her and assist you with bringing felony mail theft charges against him/her. Conversly, Postmasters look out for their fellow postal union employees. More likely than not, they will take your report, "lose" it, and no one will be investigated and held accountable. Yes, you have a copy of your report, but the investigation will get stone-walled and disregarded because you, a mere civilian, are dealing with a huge bureaucracy of the federal government, not an accountable private sector business.

One day I was having frequent and terrific gas due to a large burrito that I had enjoyed the previous morning.

The phone rings. It is a telemarketer, a live one this time, not a bot. She launches into her spiel. I play along. Now its time to make the purchase. She asks me for my full legal name for the purchase contract. I give her a fake one. Next, she asks me for mt SS number. I put the phone to my butt and unleash a long and very loud fart ! When i return the phone to my face, I ask her, "Did you get that, darling ?" Dial tone. She never called back.

One time on my charge card statement there was a transaction for RUPLES. Yes, Ruples.  I do not do ruples.  And was in a college class on the day of the transaction.
Another one was a small charge as a test.  Then, many more charges for auto parts in an area I never have been before.  So, the card company removed these as they called to notify us.  Another was done after getting gas at a station where you had to go in to do the charge.  Those people stole the number and thanks to them that card was cancelled.  But, beware of old numbers for your charge cards as they NEVER go away according to charge card companies.  The thieves do test numbers and re-use them.

I am going through something similar to that I think I'm being framed for a bunch of different things cuz people hack into my phone

Yes this morning I received a message from ffhf and tried to find out what it is but I have no clue I haven't responded to it yet I'm going to go ahead and block it it has a official looking number though it's not a phone number it's like a five digit number six digit number. I've already gotten scanned from Utah several times and I live in Virginia . Only that one was a bank fraud. So obviously looking at the past entries you have this has been done before and now they're starting again.

Got call. Didn't pick up.   Happened in  Michigan
