Your list is comprehensive but not complete.  they are also using

    (914) 595-7031
    (410) 575-1863
    (404) 865-3326
    (412) 235-6111

I think rather they use a PBX system with a bank of number that just rolls over to the next area code.   I just keep adding the number to my call blocking list as they keep on using new ones...

HELP- these bottom feeders have been contacting me 5-7 time a day 4-6 days a week as early as 8a as late as 925pm (east coast)  The debt is over the Statute of limitations (I loved which seems to make a difference) however the statute of limitations is over in both states (the longer SOL) being in the state I moved to.  The date of the move coincided with the date I moved so there was no lapse time in between.  The last time they called me was 12-9-2013.  I used information that I received from a reputable agency dealing with debt collectors harassment and the statute of Limitations. I informed them that I was NOT admitting the debt was mine.....that they gave me the date of the debt  including any last payment, I informed them that the Statute of Limitation would have run out on that type of debt 7 months earlier, That the time of day they were calling me and the number to times they were calling me was against "The Fair debt collection act".  That since the call was being recorded, I was informing them that NO further communication except by way of federal mail would be accepted and they immediately thrown in the trash and that any I was informing them to Cease and Desist any further phone calls.  That further "Unfair debt collection action on their part" would be reported tot he States Attorney's office and the Office for Unfair Debt Collection.  As I would usually have received at least 3 phone called from these bottom feeders by now....I am hoping this will stop.  But who knows.  But don't take this treatment laying down...fight back.  All you have to loose is your sanity..... Good luck all.

Yes, these predatory cowards disguised as professionals and having no business ethics. They are in complete contempt of all federal and state laws, rules, and regulations. They have no integrity with any business dealings preying on your family, friends, elderly, vulnerable, and uninformed. Their PRA Location Services in Las Vegas NV and their headquarters http://www.bbb.org/norfolk/business-reviews/d ... olk-va-51000164 BBB. Contacting them other than to find out why they're harassing and preying on family and friends is useless. They abide by nothing written or verbal. Write their BBB, your consumer protection state attorney general and federal agencies to expose these predators disgusied as "just doing their jobs." Rules, there are no rules.

Hookay, seems Portfoilio Recovery's predatory cowards disgused as professional and ethical debt collectors use of disinformation took over the thread. Yes, this "Portfolio Recovery Group" (PRG) uses deceptive and unfair business practices against family, friends, elderly, vulnerable, and uninformed. Their network of Verizon, NCO Group, Allied Interstate, with skip tracers, telemarketers and debt collectors under Direct Energy, and Home Services. Cowards!

This in fact is Portfolio Recover

This is a Collection Agency for Capital one, Macys JC-Penny and Department other store Affiliates. What they do is buy old credit card debt and recycle it even though it's been written off or past the time line limitations.
They are the scum of debt Collectors.
They want me who's been totally disabled and on SSI of $633.00 to pay them 1/3 of the balance of $1400.00 of a card which was written off back in 1997 with a balance of $197.00..
I told them I have no money but they could have my finger nail clippings, the person on the line said nail clippings is not money. I said that's all I have left in my world. And person kept saying I could pay $20.00 a month, I said I can't even afford the postage to mail you or purchase a money order. They laughed and hung up.

    No commission today from me..

You can send them a cease and desist letter, certified mail/return receipt telling them to stop calling you about this debt.  Since it's been so long since the debt was written off, and you are unable to pay, they can't do anything to you - other than call and harass you.  They can't sue you since the SOL has long since passed.  If they continue to harass you in spite of the cease communications letter, you can find a consumer lawyer who will sue THEM on contingency (meaning he won't charge a fee unless you win - and will take that fee from the money THEY pay you).

I do thank you for the list. I began to block the numbers as PRA called each time, but this may be better. Took a while, but it is done. I read up on the company and their methods. Seems as if they have a wrangler over a designated number of agents that spurs them on. We should start a phone in campaign just to drive them crazy. I started to call them over, and over since I've got speed dial that dials the number that just called. If all of us were to call them maybe they would understand how annoying they are. I don't even own this debt. My husband who has been dead 15 years owned it. The statute of limitations long ago has been reached, but PRA just keeps calling!

Sad, isn't it, how you can train another human being to completely ignore and act like nothing was said or told to these predatory cowards. I can hear the script now. Geez! if there's not rules, regulations, and laws that are in place to control these predators preying on family and friends that include children, elderly, and vulnerable, there should be. Horror stories like these should be made in the form of complaints to all state and federal consumer protection agencies. What's worse is, it's industry wide disguised as "just doing their jobs!"

No match for computer whiz and tech savvy person.   Dumb Mofos!  Don't answer 800 and 900 numbers, or any toll free numbers, make them spend money on real numbers.  Do not talk to them for any reason, nothing!    There is  Panasonic phone that block 300 numbers.  Never answer  no caller Id, out of area, private,  and anonymous. Look call blocking devices on amazon. I have 2 different ones, both work very well and call block over 1000 numbers and 10 area codes, plus no caller id.

www.alabamaconsumer.com by the Watts & Herring LLP law firm has some excellent articles on PRA, Midland, et al. With respect to cases Mr. Watts has defended against PRA, the debt buyer has never put on evidence in an AL courtroom to prove it ACTUALLY OWNED the debt it was suing on.

Orlando, FL attorney Don Petersen's blog at www.fdcpa.me is also chockfull of useful information on how to deal with debt collectors/buyers like PRA.

Both sites also explore how debtors can use the TCPA to their advantage, particularly w/ respect to autodialed calls to cell phones.

I found these sites after discussing PRA issues w/ a close friend at dinner who again has to hassle w/ PRA. Hence I'm not a paid plugger for these sites..

Those "excellent articles" apply to debt buyers in general and amount to attorney advertising. Readers are misled by an "Insert Name Here" approach used by a variety of lawyers who dress up their promo copy as "blog" and "article" entries. Hence you are aiding delivery of that advertising, and how you are or not compensated matters little.

One could sift and extract advice from that ad copy, but I see nothing about the debt buying industry or methods of consumer resistance not already discussed in greater depth by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Federal Trade Commission, the National Consumer Law Center, and unofficial consumer law resources like Credit InfoCenter and DebtorBoards.

Petersen runs a site where he's been willing to lightly discuss cases without making obnoxious lures into a representation agreement. Its inclusion here may be a decoy in a post which replaced spam for a Saint Louis attorney, appearing and getting deleted by Admin, one day before "Maria". That deleted spam similarly led to a site full of faux blog posts using infamous collection agency names as search engine bait.

Problem that I have of these idiot people is that when they call they call my cell when I'm at work so I can't answer the phone and they never ever leave a message the only reason why I know that their portfolio recovery is because I looked up the phone number. So if they don't leave a message and I don't know what they want, do I legally have to call them back.
