I comprehend what your trying to say, but you’ve left out, probably more than half of the equation. You have *debt collector* on one side, and  *debtor* on the other. What about Consumer? I’m sure you can grasp the idea that a *phone number (which is what 800notes is about)* doesn’t constitute any such correct *personal information*.  Now before you tell me to just politely tell the collector, or drop everything, call a robot back; explain I’m not who they are looking for, just hold on a minute.  Why would it take a small war to get those in your industry off my phone, (after going through AG, FTC, etc, etc)?  It took looking up Corporation Commission docs, State Bar, what side shows (affiliates subsidiaries, principals) are going on. Who’s the agent of process, Et al *licensed council* setting the operation up.
Now, either your industry will have to stop using the phone, or take what you get. It wouldn’t have come to all that, had there been Gov Regulations *on the side of the consumer*, Right?

If you work for a real debt collector then we are indeed screwed. You didn't mandate to spell one word correctly. It's a lien not a lean. You can't lean against my property. I would just push you over. You can't be aloud to do anything you are allowed. Seriously, WTF, and you have the nerve to call others stupid.

This is NOT what the thread was about. These people hang up or threaten you when you ask for more information. If you ask what company they are representing they will not tell you. I use to be a Supervisor for a 3rd party collections and I NEVER threatened anyone. I only would explain the process of collections and possible Garnishment. I also NEVER set out to make anyone feel bad because a bill went unpaid, things happen. My group of collectors were very successful at collecting owed money because we did not degrad or threaten anyone.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
    (202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

Wow, you sure make a lot of assumptions for someone who can't even compose a basic sentence or spell simple words.  If you would take time to read some of the threads around here, the regulars NEVER suggest that anyone skip out on a validated debt and not pay the creditor that legally holds that debt.  In fact, we don't even hate collectors (my brother is one, thank you).  There is a huge difference between accounts receivable professionals and illegal debt collectors who try and collect debts they do not own (not too mention the lies and threats they make to consumers).

Simply because some caller has personal information means nothing.  Theft of personal information is so easy in this day and age, consider the following

    1.  A simple data breech where information was stolen
    2.  A criminal sets up a website for "pay day loans" (which he never gives) and steals personal information
    3.  A criminal buys the names and contact details of persons seeking PDL and starts calling to collect on non-existent loans
    4.  A criminal pays an employee of some financial firm for personal data
    5.  A criminal sets up a "debt consolidation" or "counseling site", asks people who there creditors are and how much they owe (never following through).  Then a few days, weeks, or months later that consumer gets calls from collectors who do not own the debt (but yet know all of the personal details)

    Holy run on sentence, Batman!

Perhaps the security breach over at Adobe rings a bell ?
    Maybe Target ?
Oh, and then there was the security breach at Sony.
And another at ..... I'm sure you get the idea.

Identity theft is a very real thing. And it's *debt collector* not "debtor collector". If you must insult posters here, at least attempt to make some sense.

I just noticed this thread, with your posts. You are one of the people that the regulars here laugh at and hold in contempt. If you have ever paid attention to this site you'd have realized that there is a large number of people here that have no delinquent debt. They are here to prevent others from being defrauded. None owe any debt to on-line lenders. They never have. They're here because they share a hatred of people who have no reason to be taking up their space. Using their air. You're one of those despised individuals.
You're addressing people that have real jobs. With real incomes. Any one of whom make far more money annually than you ever will. Legally. Some pay heavier tax burdens every year than you'll make in ten years. And that's only if you're good at your despicable "job". Which, with your obvious illiteracy, you're not and never will be.
Don't try to come here and spout your BS. You're not talking with some naïve person who was foolish enough to take out a PDL from some predatory lender. You're trying to enter into debates with people who are highly educated & who are more than willing to show you how mentally deficient you are. You are vastly out-gunned!
    Skeff Ett Liv!

Very true --- although it is tough to provide readers with a "profile" based on information give by some illiterate who isn't smart enough to know they are stupid, and even if they think they are being deceptive, they lack the intellect for true deception.

I think the last post of take your money may be a "confession" of sorts

"you people are crazy its obvious the majority of you all that are getting called gave your information
out then act like somebody stole it.......it seems that some of you didnt have money and needed to borrow
some so you decided to go online and apply for loans so now your information is out there"

Summary --- some of those we have called who do not have a debt provided personal details while trying to seek a PDL (or car loan or mortgage) online, and now we have it in the illegal boiler room.  We have no morals so we don't consider how we obtained the information stealing.

Now, maybe I can charge the shills my billable hour and start blowing up the phones of them, their family, neighbors, prom dates, and parole officers (just kidding about the blowing up the phone)

Is there any thread on that guy in England who was able to successfully bill telemarketers who called him? Old news but here's the post: (I like his last name!)
