Solar panel harassment PAYBACK
- Joey| 6 repliesCalling authorities, BBB, your sister, mom, your neighbor who is an expert on everything, will NOT help.. The only way to get rid of these calls is warn them you have a whistle, and they have 3 seconds to hang up AND never call again.
- RJ-RadioWavez replies to CPO| 1 replyI do not answer unfamiliar callers simply I have better things to do with my time,
- Tamianth replies to Joey| 3 repliesPersonally I have better things to do then even bothering answering them. I use a call blocking device. Much faster and its goodbye forever!
- B. Edwards replies to Joey| 1 replyI think the Blow the Whistle Treatment is an urban legend, and while whistles may have dismayed cold callers who were actually dialing phone numbers from a DUNS list, auto-dialers couldn’t care less.
Do you imagine some jerk in India notifies his boss that 123-456-7890 is being answered by a real bad-[***] armed with a wicked whistle? Like the Terminator, the auto-dialer just don’t care. Your number stays on the list. Remember, by blowing a whistle you are only proving there is a LIVE Human at that number who WILL pick up the phone. Dialer don’t care. Calls back in a month or so and maybe gets someone who will fall from the scam.
So blow if it makes you feel better, but if you do it for every call you get and live in an apartment building or near your neighbors house, you might be getting served for disturbing the peace.
btw – if the whistle gag really worked, sometime in the last 20 years or so, we would have read, seen or heard of at least ONE telemarketer rep who went deaf and sued someone for damages. This America after all. - andyaz replies to PjsWell, if he sends them on a wild goose chase every time they call, maybe they'll quit calling? I have call blocking now, but years ago I've done the same sort of thing to persistent telemarketers. A simple "no" won't discourage them from calling again, but I've faked an accent, and feigned ignorance and stupidity. Then I act agreeable to everything they tell me, but only after they repeat and explain it at least twice. When it comes to the money part, you can sense their excitement, but "my" credit card number has the wrong number of digits, then it's expired and I have to go search for the new one, etc. It can take awhile, but it's fun to f__k with them, and eventually they get worn out and give up.
- William replies to B. EdwardsWhy blow a whistle, when you can sing this song : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51x532yW1lY
When you get in trouble and you don't know right from wrong,
give a little whistle!
Give a little whistle!
When you meet temptation and the urge is very strong,
give a little whistle!
Give a little whistle!
Not just a little squeak,
pucker up and blow.
And if your whistle's weak, yell "Juminy Cricket!"
Take the straight and narrow path
and if you start to slide,
give a little whistle!
Give a little whistle!
And always let your conscience be your guide - Hmmmmmm| 1 replyI <3 the poem! It's so profound and inspiring. Your last name should be Shakespeare!
- Nimrod replies to HmmmmmmMore like his name should be Ned Washington. That was the lyricist who wrote "Give a Little Whistle" for the Disney movie Pinocchio.
It would be a better world if more people followed that final line of "And always let your conscience be your guide". But I fear that many people have lost their conscience. (I guess this world needs more talking crickets.) - HmmmmmmCan't access YouTube but since it's Disney, It has to be profound! I can barely get phone signals in the island especially outside. I hope the whistle misses me ?!?!?!
- Hmmmmmm replies to RJ-RadioWavezGreat wisdom!
- Blagh Blagh replies to BigAYou would do this if it were not for the fact that you haven't.
- Blagh Blagh replies to Tamianth"Personally I have better things to do then even bothering answering them. "
Like sitting in front the computer and writing in a forum all day. Maybe if you write more, the scams will stop forever!
If you don't wanna DO something, stop discouraging others. Sheesh! - Dr Pezz Dispensa replies to Tamianth| 1 replyI couldn't agree with you more. Answering these calls will only lead to more unwanted calls. Registering with a service that blocks robocalls had helped reduce the number of unwanted calls we received by over 50%.
- Hmmmmmm replies to Dr Pezz DispensaI agree with you 100%
- My unwanted calls| 1 replydropped by 90% and the stupid ones who still call hang up on me when they hear my lovely voice. :)
Stop fibbing about how the calls will increase. There is no truth in this.
Just tell it like it is, you don't want to talk to scammers, so you don't...and you tell others not to because it makes you feel better about yourself. I can understand getting cold feet on the phone. It's not for everybody but tell me, why you gotta lie to people?
Shame on you.
