This people have been harassing me for literally years with a different spoofed number every time.  I finally set up an appointment and sent them to a house that is empty and for sale.  They were calling me and telling me they are ringing the bell and I told them I don't hear the bell and let me look out the door.  Of course I'm just wasting their time and I will do this every single time they call me again.

Keep in mind to write down everything you tell them because you will get transferred to somebody else to "verify" everything you told the first guy and he will repeat the address off by one number.  I just played along with them and gave the "correct" address again.

Well that's interesting but I don't understand how that will stop them from calling you if they have your phone number?

I take it "these people" are illegal sales callers. Do "these people" have a name? Have you made comments under phone numbers they use?

I suppose the idea is to wear down the installers and their bosses who benefit from the "lead generation" calls until those calls cease. Often people who conduct the private sting operation take the opportunity to photograph and/or videotape vehicles and personnel, collect documents, and get anything useful to turn around and find the heads of the hydra which should get the summons and complaint for TCPA violations.

It won't stop the calls but at least I can waste a lot of their time and I must say I had a little fun doing it.  I hope more people start wasting their time and have some fun with it.

Have you considered getting a new number or complaining on the BBB?

Did you ever stop to think that the 'new number' might have been someone's OLD number and they got rid of it for a reason?

While this poster is causing them a limited amount of grief and enjoying himself I would have to doubt that it is not something these con artists have not seen and dealt with before.  He has not achieved anything of value or importance including the cessation of calls to his residence.  Indeed this whole thread lacks in any substance what so ever since the company name and phone number have not been revealed.  This helps no one.  I would certainly be more inclined to invite them to my home and answer the door with a camera at the ready, taking their picture and the picture of their vehicle and license plate.  I would document everything that was said and done, take pictures of the caller id to prove the time and date of calls and if possible make recordings that would stand up in court (knowing whether I was able to record legally or not first).  So far this thread has a ton of posts that tell me nothing and are simply no help to me.To be honest, this thread is simply a waste of space in my opinion especially since the OP stand the chance of actually making some money off of this by suing these people and thus showing them that the laws of this land stand intact and enforceable.

My apoloygies for wasting your time, I found your posting enjoyable.  I have a call back number it says from the National Renewable Energy Agency or something like that.  The number is for Dave 818-322-4170.  I bet it's a SPOOFED number and he will never give the real name of his company.  Maybe someone can take your advice and go the extra mile.  Maybe someone can leave "Dave" a message and make a video and take pictures and file a lawsuit and become RICH!

So you are not someone?  You have the perfect opportunity to do something but you have decided to actually do nothing.  Come to think of it doing nothing is certainly easier than doing something.  I never said you wasted our time, my point is that without any true information, nothing will be accomplished.  These people certainly will not stop because you are sending a few of them to empty houses.  They will certainly persevere and expect what you are doing as a matter of conducting the criminal enterprise they are engaged in.  The only thing that will affect their operation is actually coming up against law enforcement.  All you are doing is allowing them to take someone else's money so in fact you are enabling them.  I can not find anything on a very quick web search about a company with that name, but since you don't seem to be sure of the name, the matter is moot.  I see there is one post under that number that says the name of the company is close to what you have posted.  This of course would have been the proper venue for your post so that anyone else getting a call from that number would look it up and see what you and any others have posted.  The phone number pages are easy for every one to find, these forum pages seem to fade into obscurity after time.

So you can take my advice, or you can ignore it as it makes no difference to me.  It will make a difference to many, many others however.

Well, booking appointments at vacant lots, cemeteries, playgrounds, empty homes, and whatever else may create a small deterrent value if enough gypsy contractors get burned and disassociate with the illegal caller acting as their dispatcher. The main problem I see is that the leaves and twigs are getting clipped when we really need to swing an axe at the trunk.

In a hungry economy some of those hired handymen don't care who gets hurt by a TCPA violation or how they obtain leads. They can use the same internet we can, so I don't see the misdirection ruse working much longer as they or the caller kingpins learn to qualify provided addresses before loading up the service trucks.

As my initial response should suggest, I also don't think well of this site being misused for unverified bragging rights when we could be making more constructive contributions.

Yes I agree completely.  Why hurt the tail when you can cut off the head?  The other thing I have an issue with is why is that "someone" always has to do something?  Is not the poster of that message a "someone"?  But then like I said, it is always easier to do nothing than to do something, and even better if you can get "someone" else to do it for you.  What they don't consider is that the "someone" will probably be the Government, which will cost money that could be used for other things that are more important, so when taxes are raised, they of course will be the first to ask why and complain about it.

I'm not saying it worked FOREVER, but I am saying I don't get calls from them anymore.  Maybe this is the only way to get on their DO NOT CALL LIST.  LOL

The biggest problem I see with "calling them back" now is that they are using real business's phone numbers and also using real peoples home phone numbers which only creates a second set of victim's being abused.  Not to mention that some of these want you to call them back incurring a rather large phone bill.
