Ineffective methods to stop scam/spam calls.

Calls from these scammers/telemarketers/etc. were the only calls I received that my 250# call blocking phone has filled up (even the least active of those were still trying from time to time), so I've recently unplugged my landline (not "CANCELLED" it), as ; BUT, I DO make calls to businesses, banks, & more recently, 911; just plug the phone back into the wall when I do need to use it.

I do the same thing, as I file a complaint I have the phone next to me so I can give them the exact time they called. I also send them a link from this site for each number I that I file a complaint about so that they have more information and can see exactly how much of a problem unwanted and illegal calls have become. Not that they don't really know, LOL, but it doesn't hurt to show that a website was created so people can share information concerning these calls.

Hey, including a link to 800notes is a good idea! I'll start doing that, too.

I mess with them,..when they ask me about buying whatever, I ask them if they want to buy my Tupperware, avon, girl scout cookies, every time they try to take it back to them, I bring it back to me or ask them personal info about where they live, how old they are, just basically waste their time...Get creative people, after a few of these kind of calls to you they will voluntarily remove your number since calling you is a waste of time for them....and besides, it's fun!  lol

Actually there is a way to get them to stop calling. It's worked for me for about 10 years now. Put the "phone no longer in service" message, complete with tones, on your answering machine. I rarely get calls and never seem to get callbacks. Fact is, even family doesn't call me anymore and, believe me, that's a good thing.

Well that is certainly on topic (note huge amount of sarcasm).  i guess you could not really figure out what the topic of this thread was even though it is in big bold letters up top.

I had one successful stop several months ago.  I got a call from a Sheriff's Association or some such.  I put the phone on speaker and let him go through is whole pitch.  When he got to the end and asked me how much he could put me down for I asked him "Does your wife know you're a thief?.  Your organization keeps 95% of every donation to cover expenses.  They give almost nothing to the sheriff's department."  He hung up on me.

I read part of your blog and these are among the most ill-advised methods I've seen in a long time.  I don't care what your so-called lawyer said on your blog - no way those tactics are legal.
