DMCA abuse: George Caceres, Web Sheriff, John E. Henehan

Yesterday, our hosting provider forwarded us a DMCA report related to the 877-214-0770 thread.

The report was submitted by WEB SHERIFF and mentioned GEORGE CACERES as the rights owner, however in the "Infringing Materials" section they did not list any copyright violations. Instead, they wrote about defamation, libellous allegations and even infringement of human rights.

We have to remind Web Sheriff, its lawyer John E. Henehan, and their client George Caceres that DMCA is used to report copyright violations only. We also want to remind them that they can be sued and held liable for not having a valid claim of copyright infringement (one of the examples is case of Online Policy Group v. Diebold).

Give them SONY's Corporate office number.  Or tell the "Web Sheriff" to take his buddy Eric Holder with him to go fishing someplace else.

Can't find any reference to a "John E. Henehan" anywhere, save posts to 800notes.    Anyone have any luck finding the lawyer?

I agree with CD. I find it hard to believe that a real lawyer would file a flagrantly false DMCA complaint. That would be skirting dangerously close to barratry and loss of one's license to practice law.

Hey Sir B-check that ripoff report for what I'm talking about. Web sheriff fired back a rebuttal that he was going to go and sue THAT site-hasn't happened yet!

Looking at the message on Ripoff Report posted by George Caceres, I'm amazed he can function day to day. Very poorly worded and unprofessional; if he ever managed to get into a courtroom, the judge would tear him apart. I encourage anyone who gets anything from this company to take him to court and put him under..

Exactly Bidness-this guy is all talk, no action and thinks that threats will get whatever they want. It's BEYOND pathetic.

Wow. That's an impressive level of stupidity and bluster. I note that it was posted in 2009 and, despite "web sheriff's" threats, the complaint is still on line. Seems the "sheriff" has never heard of CDA Section 230.

Exactly. These morons think that threatening a site will get the reaction they want and it's not gonna work. HEY 'WEB SHERIFF'-if you see this, you're all TALK and no ACTION!

Web Sherriff's back and forth with the Pirate Bay was pretty funny.  The piratebay.se/legal page isn't accessible now, but you can read it via the Internet Archive:

Under "White Stripes / WEB SHERIFF".
