I've been clean from an IV drug addiction for 31 years this month, and I've never attended a 12-step program meeting.  It can be done if you take personal accountability instead of putting all your trust in some imaginary higher power.

    It Can be done, yes.
But A-it's a hard road to take and not everybody is strong (or mean enough) to take it on their own.
And B-still doesn't mean you're "cured". It just means you've stuck it out and stayed the course. Again, it takes intestinal fortitude to do that some times and it's not something everybody can accomplish.
Long and short of it is... Do what you gotta. And if that means leaning on somebody/something else until you can get your feet under you, then so be it. No one way works for everybody. Just like anything else.

But to get back on topic, I figured the guy was full of it. Even with out knowing somebody rich enough to go to such a place. I come from a long line of people who take "recreational use" to whole new levels of stupid. And out of that maelstrom of ... Uh, "smart" people... I've seen some who did it alone, some who had help and some who just didn't bother one way or another.
The sad truth is, regardless of what else one believes or doesn't, it never 'just goes away'. It has to be tended to, guarded against and with out end. The retirement plan is make it to the next birthday and hope you don't slip up. I gather there's no Certainty that you won't. From what I've seen anyway.
As to trademark infringement and the claiment's "understanding" of how it works... I'll take a line from the movie, "The Princess Bride"...
"You keepa usin' dat whord... I do na theen it means wha choo theen et means."

So... is this NOT the line for the bathroom?

I would have no idea that passages is anything but scrupulous if it wasn't for this. Thanks for posting. Carry on with the good fight. Now... time to do some research on Passages

I look no further than your irrelevant, unpunctuated run-on rant if I want to see a bunch of crap. The problem is not that telephone subscribers fail to use call blockers. The problem as stated is that yet another fraudulent business, apparently reliant on nuisance phone calls, has thin-skinned owners who cannot process complaints against those calls or its operation like grownups. You of course wouldn't know anything about inappropriate reaction to reasonable discussion.

Sidelining the covo slightly, I'm also an ACOA & started doing therapy & going to meetings, you might say as a first adopter.  I also went on to do training to become a certified Alcohol & Drug counselor.  In our training, we had to do a family tree of dysfunction & addiction.  Looking at mine, no one went unscathed.  Today, I wish we used the term 'addictive personality' rather than just addicts alone.  Both my husband are ACOA's.  We don't drink or drug, but boy can we find other things to get hung up or addicted to.  And lordy when the internet came along, that's why we have so many people now on their 'devices' or kids on their games.  Having finally purged technology's grasp upon our time, nowadays we pretty much get hung up on certain restaurants or sweets/junk food untill our taste buds tire.  Addiction sadly seems to be ingrained within us for now & approximately 10% of a population will be grasped by its outlying roots!

I found this by searching for other instances about this place ALLEGEDLY (lol) knowing about a sexual relationship going on between one of the group leaders and my niece.  When she told me about it, I wondered if anyone else had this experience.  I found stuff on facebook that led me here. Very interesting.

    * Oops - I also meant to add that she had received a call after having completed an online survey, something she had to do before she could see the listings of local support groups for which she'd been searching.

I have a place in Calabasas which is the town which adjoins Malibu. This place runs its ads incessantly on through the local cable provider. John Oliver just did a released a piece on scam rehab centers this week. Passages Malibu is featured prominently. They only charge $71K per month. At the time of the interview, the owner had no idea where the residents were or what they were doing.

I saw that commercial and about feel of the couch...."I was an addict" They are insane and irresponsable to say that. The Passages rats took 2 months and $140,000.00 to care for my wife and like scientology the talked her into she disconnecting from me as if I was the problem. I lost a my wife a best friend and a couple of hundred thousands of dollars all total. And she was never helped. still drinking and drugging. I met that con a artist Pax and his old man, a couple of hacks. They are likely users. They claim the are not "addicts" the location is the only thing it has got going for it. After treatment they assign you a "half way house" Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson' s old house with one of their own plants staying there passing out cocaine. What a nightmare. Passages ruins lives. and take everything you have.

They have deep pockets and intimidation is most definitely a tactic. I never thought to connect these 2 together, but it makes complete sense now. They also own CAN(cult awareness network).

    Apparently,
the number of people reading the comments of Resident47 is increasing.
Are we breeding?   Perhaps not.   As much enjoyment as there is to be had from the comments, I doubt they are as much fun as the act of procreation is reckoned to be.
