If you know it is not the right place to post why in heaven's name would you post it here? The stupidity on the internet is alarming. Do not contribute to it.

Oh my goodness, you know there's a lot of paranoia out there but rarely can you see it on one site!
Just got a call - didn't answer and no message left.  It is a scammer for sure, blocking his real number.  Nothing more sinister than that!

Yes, you CAN block specific numbers IF you research and buy the right phone equipment (landlines).

For cells, program the number as "SPAM1", "SPAM2", etc. and just hit "Ignore" when they call.  OR, if you can set your ringtone to 'silent' for these calls, you'll never even know they called until you look at your phone afterwards.

Where there's a will, there's a way, you just have to find and use it!   Been doing this for over 4 years, now!

    Fed up
Have been getting calls from this number for the past two weeks.  Yesterday, I got two calls so I decided to see what they were all about.  Person asked for my mother by name.  I asked in reference to what?  She said they wanted to check her diabetes monitoring equipment.  When I told them she did not have diabetes, then they ask "Well, how about high blood pressure?"  I told them they were a farce and not to call again.  Lo and behold, they called about three hours later.  I told the person on the other end they had called earlier in the day and they said "No".  I again said not to ever call here again.  There must be something we should be able to do about these calls.  I wish I could ask for some of my tax money back for the people who are supposed to be getting paid to monitor these telemarketers... Just don't know who to ask.  Some people say you should have the numbers blocked, but they always keep changing so it doesn't matter.  Telemarketing should be outlawed all together.  Sorry for anyone who works for them, but if I want a service, product, etc. I know how to go about getting them.

Five zeros on the back end of this number? I have it saved at "collections" but they never leave a message and call once in a blue moon. I don't know who this is, but I'm going to try to block it within my cellular service.

I have been getting calls from 1-000-000-0000 for quite some time on my cell phone.  I never answer it myself and always let it go to voicemail.  They always leave a pre-recorded message saying they are calling me (by name) and listing a variety of names of who is calling.  Most recently someone named "Doug Winter(s)".  The recording says they are calling about a bad check and have some paperwork to serve me.  I think if this was legitimate then they would have a real, live person making these calls and not some recording.  It's really getting annoying!

I keep getting multiple calls a day from Complete Diabetic, I have asked them to take me off the list and not call anymore. They just keep insisting to talk to owner of phone. When I hang up, they call right back.

They have called here several times. The last call was last night just before 10pm. I answered but did not say anything. A guy with a foreign accent asked for my husband. I told him 'I'm sorry, it is almost 10pm here and DO NOT call here again' and hung up on him. So far they haven't called back.

Stopping [***] like these would seem to be an ideal opportunity for someone to develop the software necessary to block specific phone numbers.  I would buy that solution and I am sure they could make multi-millions of dollars with all the folks who are complaining on all these boards.
