I just received a phone call from a woman that claimed to be the State of California Helath Dept.

It is Sunday at approx 2:00PM in the afternoon.  She woke me up or I would never have taken the call.  I told her just a minute.  She waited and then I looked at the caller ID.   It showed 1-000-000-0000 with no name available.  
I confronted her and told her she was spoofing a phone number and that was illegal acording to Federal Law and she just acted stupid.  I demanded to talk with a supervisor.  She tried to give me an 800 number to call.  I stopped her and told her she was just a stupid [***] [***]! and she just ignored my obnoxous comment.  Then I called her a meth addict piece of sh&*.  She just kept repeating some garbage about being from the State of California.  I told her 3 times to never call back again and then hung up on her.
She pissed me off.  It is Sunday afternoon and no one form the State of California is even working at that dept today.  We are cutting back here in Califrornia on State employees and this was an obvious  spoof of a phone number.

These people are pure SCUM!  Do not even answer any questions that they have and always tell them no agency can spoof a number legally.

Knowledge is POWER!  Use it.

The House on Wednesday passed a bill that bans caller ID spoofing.

Callers will be banned from transmitting misleading or inaccurate caller ID information on any voice communications services, including VoIP.

The primary effect of the bill is summarized by "It shall be unlawful for any person within the United States, in connection with any real time voice communications service, regardless of the technology or network utilized, to cause any caller ID service to transmit misleading or inaccurate caller ID information, with the intent to defraud or deceive."

It does not ban you from blocking your own information when making calls (as with *67), but you can't use technology that would display a different phone number or name on someone else's phone.

So no more prank calls - but more importantly, no more calls from criminals aiming to trick people into giving away banking information.

tired of this and I am going to shut my phone off. If everyone were to follow suit, something would have to be done about the problem and there would be a lot of people out of work because of it!

After receiving at least 3-calls a day for the past 4-days from 1-000-000-0000 . . . . . . I decided to check out this site to see
if others have been bothered by the same number.
    Boy! Was I surprised to see the number of other people who are
having the same problem!!  
    Thank-you to the people who suggested "blocking" the number
on my Panasonic phone!!  Tracked down the instructions and now
have the darn number blocked!!!

Got this call twice now and everytime it hangs up.  No name no number but 0000000000.  Don't have any idea how they got my number or what it is about.  Don't have blockbuster or owe any outstanding money to any one.

It worked!  It really worked!!  The phone rang once, as the
instructions said it would, then stopped.......no more ringing or my
phone saying a call from "zero, zero, zero...zero, zero, zero...etc."

Android phone there is a app to block numbers called callfilter

I have a cordless phone with  feature that allows me to block incoming phone call numbers.  The caller gets 1 ring followed by a busy signal from my phone.  I can tell when I get a call from a blocked caller because my phone rings only once.

Naturally, there's no charge for the call blocking because it's built into my home phone equipment.

I have gotten 5 calls from this number today.  When I answered twice, the other end was silent and hung up after roughly 5 seconds.  This is exremely frustrating and annoying...

receiving multiple 000-000-0000 calls in the last 2 days. I've answered once, with no response. no idea who it is calling.

They called I didn't answer. They didn't leave a message. I use caller ID and listen to answering machine to screen callers I want to talk to. I'm on do not call list but that doesn't work. I'm glad to hear about the "The Truth in Caller ID Act of 2010"law passed. When does it go into effect?

Unfortunatelly you can not block this #,  I have found this out the hard way.  Been called 20 times just today alone. Real painin the a**. Arent there laws about phone harassment?

I have received calls from this 000-000-0000 a few times already. This last time there was no message left. So Much for "Anonymous Call Rejection" !

Same old thing, answer and no one there, hold on and they just disconect. Then they call back 15 min. later about 20-30 times a day. Just a ROYAL PAIN IN THE KAAAAAZOOOOO. They interupt calls I'm on line with and all hours. I have been tracing them With *57 and writing the times down for the LAWSUIT when they finally find these IDIOTS. I'm about done with it all. And you CAN'T BLOCK AN ALL 0000000000 NUMBER>
