First off, Stan...when you get a new phone number, yes, only you and the telephone company may just know it, however, that new phone number that you received was someone else's phone number at one time.  It was probably disconnected due to nonpayment and/or too many bill collectors calling that phone number...also, FLR, you can program your phone number to be a different phone number to show up on caller ID such as all 0's.  This is what Bank of America has been doing to solicit that they will be in your area soon for a promo the caller ID show up as all 0's...not rocket science!

I just got the call.  Sounds like a computer ..  when I picked up the phone it dialed 3 digits very fast, faster than a person could do it, then line went dead. But it's first time I have ever gone one like this.

I have been receiving calls every night from the above number.  Starts out in one hour interval.  Goes to every half hour, then every 15 minutes. Starts around 5pm. Central Standard time and goes at least untill 9pm.  This is very annoying and unnecessary.

It is plain and simple.  THIS IS AN ILLEGAL NUMBER !!  Report it !!  EVERY TIME !!

    1) Did the US not just pass the "truth in caller ID" law??

    2) In Canada, telemarketers have to display the "originating" number, or a "number where the telemarketer can be reached".
*(000)000-0000 is an INVALID number, so it CANNOT be the originating number, and it cannot be dialed, so you could not reach them there.

Plain and simple, either way, IT IS AGAINST THE LAW, and should be REPEATEDLY reported to the proper authority....period.

I recently added my number to the CRTC's "Do Not Call" list, in Canada.  It has, personally, significantly reduced my annoyance calls (except political ones).

I think that sometimes when a company calls with an automated message it can also take on this number. My garbage company just called to tell me about new garbage cans (recorded message) and it was 000-000-0000
