If you have a modem in your computer with caller id...download phonetray 1.39 free app...install it and add numbers to the privacy manager list...set it to "zap call" and "auto" with one ring. The app will disconnect the caller on the 1st ring. You will never be annoyed again. If your modem has voice you can set it to output a list of messages. Check it out..It is fantastic. downloads.zdnet.com/abstract.aspx?docid=2827313    (copy this link and paste it into your browser).
    No more annoying calls!

goes back & forth between 000-000-0000 and the # 406-478-2356.  we're disabled & hard of hearing, getting to phone & answering these idiots are taking a huge toll on our health.  the FCC is a tax supported branch of the government.  Why can't something be done.  we senior citizens have paid tax $$ for 60+ yrs & then FCC can do nothing about our being harassed in these last few years.  Do the companies calling have a "friendship" with the FCC?  The FCC seems reluctant to do anything.

I've had calls from the all "0" number and they have actually left a message.  Always someone with a foreign accent with a very American name like Tim Wood, or Rebecca Moore and they say that my social security number is in trouble and that if I don't call them back the consequences will be on me!  They do leave a number and when I called them back they told me I'd be arrested if I didn't pay them $8,000 +!  I told them I was a lawyer and I was having them investigated.  They hung up but have called numerous times again.  I have their messages recorded and have reported them.

I kept getting calls from 000-000-0000 Unavailable, or from all different numbers that say Unavailable, and I already had some type of Anonymous Caller Intercept from Verizon, and I finally called them to say that I wanted to block ALL calls from Unavailable. And I explained that only once in a great while (4 or 5 months) do I ever receive a message that states on the caller ID that some call was blocked, so apparently Verizon STILL has to tell you that a call was blocked, so even a call that you don't want still produces a call.
Anyhow, the woman put me on hold and then came back to say that I will NOT receive ANY more calls from the all zero numbers, or from any that say UNAVAILABLE, and it costs nothing. We shall see.
A footnote: I have answered the phone from unavailable a few times (since 1994) and it was always a woman with a British accent who is calling to collect a debt for a relative (who moved away in 1994 leaving unpaid bills in her wake), and I have explained to these people that I don't know where she is, but they persist in calling. However, I found them on the web, along with a fax number (gg) and so the last time they called, I simply start faxing random text pages to their number along with the message, "She doesn't live here." If they want to keep harassing me, then I will use up the paper on their fax number. Don't get mad, .....

This has been going on too long.
I pay for my phone service for my convenience not
theirs. and our phone companies say "oh well, too bad nothing we can do"
they are the ones who allow these calls. I think that we should start
chaging every time we get a call. charge the phone co or the caller 50.00$ a shot
if not more. Soon someone will stop calling. only if our phone company
    would allow it!

I was called at 2:40pm, today. The number was: 000-000-0000, and you can't block it because the company will not recognize the number. They Call and "report" That your Visa Account has a block. Which is a FRAUD!!!!! DO NOT ANSWER OR PRESS ANY NUMBERS AT ALL!! Just hang up, if you don't give them any information, they can't do anything!!!! Just be Aware!! Always call your bank cards!!

This spoofed number has been showing up on my caller ID quite a bit recently so 2 days ago on the weekend I decided to answer it since I was getting sick of the calls.  The person on the other end immediately said my first name as if he knew me.  Since I had no idea who in the world this person was that came on the line like they were my long lost relative and it was obvious that he didn't want to be forthcoming with who he was, I told him that I was sorry but that there was no one at our number by that name.  Then he kept trying to pressure me to admit that I really was the person that he was trying to reach since that is the name that was on his "contact list".  I told him that he had the last name right, but not the first name.  While he still kept trying to make it sound as though he didn't believe me (like I really cared), he finally went on to say that he was calling looking for donations for emergency responders.  Didn't state what municipality it was for or any other identifying information whatsoever for these "emergency responders" and was talking very fast.  Finally, he asked if "they" (whoever "they" were) could count on my support - I told him as long as they weren't looking for financial support I would be willing to try to help out - then he said that they had a "program" for people in my particular situation whereby $20.00 could go a long way.  I apologized but told him that unfortunately if it involved any kind of financial support that I would not be able to assist them at this time - he immediately hung up without anything further.
While I know there are a lot of telemarketing and fundraising outfits that will hang up quickly on you if they realize that they're not getting any $, I have a feeling that this may have something to do with either a junk debt buyer or Forster and Garbus (attorney that represents junk debt buyers in NYS) since we've been getting multiple calls from Forster & Garbus (when we haven't been home) and they never leave a message.  Per what I have been able to research online, Forster and Garbus is representing a junk debt buyer that is suing someone else in my area that has the same last name so I'm wondering if they are trying to get a hold of our family to see if we're related (which we're not - it's a fairly popular last name...)

People - -for god's sake GET REAL!!!  87 PAGES OF TELEPHONE CALLS - AND YOU ARE STILL TRYING TO DETERMINE IF IS IS A FAKE CALL, COLLECTOR, ETC.

This is a spoofed # that any one can use, so get over trying to figure out who they are.

IT DOES NOT MATTER WHO THEY ARE!!!

    Buy a call blocking phone!!!

THEY CALLED MY OFFICE PHONE THIS MORNING AND I SIMPLY PRESSED THE "BLOCK" BUTTON ON MY UNIDEN PHONE.  WHEN THEY CALL BACK - THE PHONE WILL SIMPLY LIGHT UP - IT WILL NOT EVEN RING.

    TO EVERYONE:

+++++++BEING ANGRY OR UPSET WILL NOT HELP YOU!!!!
                *********YOU MUST BE PRO-ACTIVE!!!++++++

    PLEASE READ BELOW!
FACT 1 - the DNC list CLEARLY does not work!  Everyone knows this...or should know this!
FACT 2 - filing a complaint with the FCC does not work!  A total and complete waste of time.  Done that.
FACT 3 - having an unlisted phone will not help you.
FACT 4 - asking/begging telemarketers to take you off their call list – you’ll get laughed at!
FACT 5 - no "class action" law suits are being filed and certainly, none are being LITIGATED.
FACT 6 – contacting the BBB – LAUGHABLE!!!  The BBB is a corrupt  organization that sells their ratings to the highest bidder.

*********QUIT BEING FRUSTRATED OVER TELEMARKETER CALLS!********

    *******************QUIT BEING A VICTIM!!! *****************

PLEASE DO THIS!     PURCHASE A CALL BLOCKING TELEPHONE!!!

Call blocking phones are very inexpensive $40-$60 and they come with, at least, one wireless handset.  Very, very convenient.

    ***********DON'T GET MAD – HIT BACK! ************

STOP  BEING  ANNOYED  AND  STOP  BEING  A  VICTIM.

    STOP COMPLAINING!

    BUY A CALL BLOCKING PHONE!

Uniden and Panasonic make CALL BLOCKING telephones.  They’re cheap - $40-$60 and they usually come with a 2nd wireless handset.  COSTCO & AMAZON SELL THEM.

They work beautifully!  These phones also block
“PRIVATE,” “OUT OF AREA” and "UNKNOWN" calls!!!

I have had the same home number and the same business phone number for over 15 years and my home and my business lines (both published) seem to be on every call list imaginable.  I bought a Panasonic call blocking phone for my home and I bought a Uniden call blocking telephone for my business.

NO MORE PROBLEMS WITH TELEMARKETERS.   THEY CAN’T GET THROUGH!

We can stop these telemarketers IF we all buy a call blocking phone.

***********NOTHING ELSE WILL STOP THESE TELEMARKETERS! **********

I have purchased a phone from Panasonic that allows be to block any number I don't want including 000 000 0000. It's the best answer to these pests. When they call a second, third, fourth, or 100 time they just get a busy signal. I have 14 blocked numbers, that call everyday, two or three times a day, but now they just get a busy signal.

I have gotten three calls from this number today1-000-000-0000...I used to work for a telephone company and before that for a non-profit telemarketing company.

You are right, there are no "legit" companies with any such phone number so it has to be a service someone is routing their number through.  And as for who they call, we were literally given a phone book at the beginning of each work day and told where the last person left off and would just start dialing.  For those of you not "listed", they are using an auto-dialer that randomly dials numbers, INCLUDING CELL PHONE NUMBERS.

No one is out to get you, you are just being overly paranoid and should really talk to a professional, even if it is just your phone company so that they can explain things to you.

These guys just called me this morning. They have a heavy accent, try to say they are from Microsoft and that my computer is downloading malicious spyware and that they can help me. I'm didn't believe that and kept asking how I know they are from Microsoft, as Microsoft would NOT call me up to tell me that, AND that their number showed up a 000-000-0000 on my caller ID. They insisted they were from Microsoft. I kept asking HOW they could possibly know I had a computer even doing this, and told them there was NO WAY I was going to do anything that would allow them to gain control of my computers remotely. I finally hung up. They have not called back as of yet.
