I got a call from this number too - it is a marketing company trying to solicit products for Old Mutual. I did not catch the name.

In terms of getting companies like this to stop - I have the following information from the Direct marketing association of South Africa.


1.    Co-operate with the person on the phone and get as much detail from them as possible
a.    Name and Surname
b.    The company they work for
c.    The company they are trying to solicit for
d.    Exact name of the product that they are trying to sell
e.    How they got your number
f.    See if you can get their office number too
g.    Once you have all of this information – make sure you tell them that you will be filing a complaint with the following bodies – the direct marketing association of South Africa and the National Consumer Commission

2.    Once you have this information you can email a complaint through to the Direct Marketing Association of South Africa you can do this by:
a.    Going onto the website:  http://www.dmasa.org/dmasa/dma_reply.php
b.    While you are there you can put your name on the National Opt Out register because all companies wanting to do a direct marketing campaign will have to run their list past the Opt Out register, and they are not allowed to send anything to you, and they will be required to delete your name from their list. You can opt out here: http://www.nationaloptout.co.za/ but be ready to fill in a comprehensive form.
c.    Then I would go and report this issue with The National Consumer Commission which is a government operated department: ncc@thedti.gov.za or NNetshitomboni@thencc.co.za or http://www.nccsa.org.za/index.php?option=com_rsform&view=rsform&Itemid=58  (they are the ones who are working towards rebates for Blackberry consumers following the RIM issues)
d.    Then – and this is what I do – go to Hello Peter and any like forums and NAME AND SHAME because if you have never opted into direct communication with a specific company and they do make contact with you, this is ILLEGAL.

Incidentally – I was called on my office number last week, I was told by the sales person that the company I work for had given out my direct line because they thought I might be interested in some deal from Telkom. I know this is a lie and I shouted at her, much to the amusement of the people sitting around me – but I doubt I had much of an impact, however, if everyone bands together and follows the procedure outlined above, we can probably reduce the amount of frustration that we endure on a daily basis.

Hi please help this number its irritating me, everyday around about 14:00 -15:00 i receive a call from this number +011 5611200 every  time I try to call it is engaged...

I think these people are fraudsters.. Guys beware!!!

Well great! I've been getting calls from this number too for the first time today! Once at 12:00 and again just a few minutes ago 14:45. Seriously!!?? I hope that this is a result from a fault at Direct Channel holdings as mentioned above, because it is just plain scary to receive calls like that.

Someone keeps calling from this number for the past two days, and because i have no idea who it was i asked my fiance to answer and no one on the other side. Today the same thing

i am receiving call from this number and when i called from a landline it is engaged.
I will not be answering my phone when this number appears again as i think this a scum and if you have air time i think they are benefiting from it.
