I have gotten quite a few calls from this number. If I pick up, there is no one at the other end, (PC caller); however a couple of times my answering machine picked up and, because the PC can't distinguosh between the anwering machine and a person anwering, I got most of the con recorded. "Yur eligble to lower your intrest rate but the eligibility period is coming to a close, press one to lower your interest rates". Pure scam, I will try what another post suggested the next time I get the call and keep pressing the "#" key.

They call at least once a day so I finally answered. After a long pause of me waiting and some weird electronic noise the caller had an accent and asked for my wife and addressed her by her maiden name.

I said she is not available and do not call me every again and hung up. hopefully this worked. Aside from the fact of being a telemarketer a number like that disqualifies you right off the start.

I got a phone call from a number like this saying that they were "Rogers wireless with a great promotion package!!" for me. After thinking that maybe it was legit, they then started asking me questions..
Phone number.. (Are they not calling it?)
Address.. (If it was ROGERS they would have my address for varification/security purposes)
SOCIAL INSURANCE NUMBER AND DATE OF BIRTH.
    yeah okay....uhhhh SCAM??
I then got the number and called rogers to see if they had any such promotion that these Albanian men, by the names of Bob, Scott, and Rob...ALBANIAN MEN with those names?? NO WAY!! Rogers said they had NO such promotions and blocked the number from my phone. I then reported it to the police.
I THINK that they got my phone number from a website called.."PHONE ZOO" where you create ringtones and what not..
after a while i started doing a test, and every time I would create a ring tone, a day later i would get a phone call.
    DO NOT use PHONEZOO.COM

I'm in the Maritimes as well and am getting these calls all day and night. I'm getting sick of hearing the phone ring. I don't answer as I have caller ID. I don't have the ability to block it. If anyone has an idea on that, please let me know. My phone company won't do anything and can't block it.

    +++++HOW TO STOP ANNOYANCE CALLS+++
    FOR FREE CALL TRACE
If you are a customer of MTS (Manitoba Telecom Services)they offer a free service they do not advertise very well.  This is an alternative to paying for call blocking feature. I spoke to a MTS CUSTOMER SERVICE REP, and they told me to enter *57 or dial 1157 when you recive annoyance calls. An announcement will yhen indicate that you have activate Call Trace.  Then you will Press 1 to proceed.  You then can notify police immediately if the call is threatening.  For annoyance calls, record a record of at least ten calls before contacting police.  The system will monitor how many times the number calls if you enter 857 each time, once the call log reaches around 10 calls of that number police will intervene. A police report is then required.  A police report is siple to fill out, often it can be completed over the phone in minutes.
The best thing we can do now to stop these calls untill the government is pressured to approve the NATIONAL DO NOT CALL LIST.

WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO PAY OUR TELEPHONE COMPANY TO BLOCK HARASSING ANNOYANCE CALLS??

    found some more
i typed 123-456-7890 into youtube and found this video:

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=3CvBWr_GAAs

(it says in the description "to call us at 123-456-7890")

also, http://youtube.com/user/MortgageMarketing is the user's channel

    found even more
to follow up on my last post, after actually watching the video (i just read description without even watching), they had contact information:

    ABC Mortgage
    1230 S. Main St.
    Mount Prospect, IL. 60056
    (123)456-7890
    www.mmcrealty.net/abcmortgage

I visited their website and they immediately ask for personal information and I could not find any privacy policy aside from the fact that it states "Note - Your Information Is 100% Confidential And Will Never Be Sold or Shared With Any Third Party".

I dont think I will ever give my personal info to a company named ABC and a phone number thats (123)456-7890.

I will continue to look into this and post any additional info I find.

    Found this on the web:

The number 123-456-7890 is used for VOIP calls originating a PC.

This number is a generic caller ID number used by the SKYPE and possibly other VOIP (Voice Over IP) phone providers. Currently most calls made through Skype on a PC will show up on caller ID as 123-456-7890.

A call from this number may be from any of the 275 million subcribers of SKYPE, who may be anywhere in the world. It may a legitimate call from a friend of yours.

Recently, however, there has been an increased number of scam callers hiding behind this generic number. If you believe that Skype should assign a unique ID for all callers so that scam callers would be unable to hide behind a generic number, you may wish to contact them to ask them to make this change.

You can make a suggestion or a complaint here:

    http://support.skype.com/?_a=tickets&_m=submit

You can also contact them at their physical address:
