- MarianI've had 3 calls today - blocked it after the 2nd call. Never answered. They called a third time today - hopefully since it's blocked they won't try again.
- samThey have been calling for about two weeks. I usually answer only when ive had a bad and just cuss them out, but today i answered and demanded the girls name and company she was calling from. she said it was the grand treasury dept. and her name was courtney williams. i told her i needed to talk to someone higher than her or i was going to report to the FCC. She said good luck and told me to stop being rude to her then hung up. hopefully itll stop.
- ShannonThey called me again today, again a foreign man asking my age. This time when I asked who he was calling for he hung up...
- Not Buying the Scam| 2 repliesThey have been calling us too but we get an actual human. They are telling us that the government has $9700 for us under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and they are calling from Washington DC. Definite foreign accent, and [***]! I looked it up while I was on the phone with him, and the only direct cash payments from this act were already made, and they were only $300 individual, $600 couple. When I told him this, he just got angry and tried distracting me, so I told him to send me a check. He said they couldnt do that, it must be a wire, of course. I finally got pissed and told him to send me a check, remove my number from their list and as soon as I hung up, I was going to report him. Cant really report a bogus number though, but hopefully someone will shut them down soon!
- MidNYteStorm replies to Not Buying the ScamWhat you have described sounds like one of the many overseas scams. It is next to impossible to take any type of action against these types of operations since the the country of origin is not going to cooperate.
Consider the option of a call blocker and or registering with a service that blocks robocalls. - Cheryl RothNo rings just beeps.
- Duane Rosencrans replies to Cynthia Hall| 15 repliesRecieved three cals from them. Don't answer. They are passing themselves off as grantees from the federal government and claim you are eligible for a grant. I immediately asked them their web address because as a former government employee i know that all government agencies end with .gov When I asked them this they immediately hung up. That tell you all you need to know.

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number. For tracfone & straight talk:

kept calling my cell phone even I did not answer - Sue replies to Shonda| 2 repliesHow do you block numbers on your cell phone?
- CelticDragon replies to SueIf you have a smartphone, you should be able to press and hold the number in your call log until a little menu pops up-there should be an auto-reject list you just tap that. There are apps too-just make sure to read what it has to access. If using something like a flip phone, add the number to your contacts with a name like zzscam01 and assign it a silent ring tone
