This person claimed to be Dennis and sent me a text to say he was interested in purchasing my item on Craigslist.  He asked me to take his call and dial 02 after picking up.
I obviously didn't!

This 202-455-888 number just called my cell at 9:30 p.m.!!  I didn't answer and within minutes I received 2 texts with different google validation codes!  What's going on???

Received call form this number - ID says Washington DC..  DC is Last place I'd take a call from scam or not..  Nothing but a bunch of morons there .. Congress and Senate etc...

Same thing happened to me this morning. Did you have to do anything? Like notify the authorities or change your number so charges wont be sent to you??? I am scared at this point

caller id said it was washington dc. i tried to call it-it didnt work anymore

Have been called several times from this number. They leave no message.  Have not requested anything from anybody .  Just block number and report to FCC . Landline only, no cell phone. Good luck.

This guy called from this number with an indian accent, and asked my mother for her banking and personal information.  Unfortunately she gave him her info HELP

Please have your Mom close the account and open a new one with a new number. Also, please place flags on her credit report with Experian,Equifax, and TransUnion.

You may be able to dispute the charge with the bank and get her money back, but before doing so, I recommend going to your local PD and filing a police report and taking the report with you. This will help prove your claim.

Also, please file reports with the FBI, your state's Attorney General, as well as the Department of Justice.

I got this call as a verifacation code from google voice.

Got a call from this number. Hung up as soon Sorenson VRS answered, and placed on my block list after reading some reviews. I have more than one number, all of them in relation to relay and Video Phone calling, so I'm good.

I have got about 5 calls from this number today 202-455-8888. 10-30-2013. They want me to enter { I think } a two digit code.

Same thing happened to me! What happened?? What did he do? Did he get into ur accts?

Got a call on my personal cell # which I rarely give out.  From my office I tried to call it back but it won't go through.  I don't answer calls on my cell that I don't recognize.

I received a call but did not answer and a voise mail was left. It said I did not understand your entry please try again. Received the call a minute later. Does any one now were he got my number from?

Ok, let's clear the air, shall we?

There are reasons that this number is calling you. Here are those reasons.

1. You requested to verify something with Google (GV, Gmail, YouTube, or other services by Google). This is the cause of 99% of calls coming from this number,

2. Somebody (weather it be a scammer on craigslist or an advertisement) wants to claim your phone number. They do this with Google Voice, by telling you to enter a 2 digit code from 00-99. DO NOT ENTER THIS CODE FOR ANY REASON UNLESS YOU DIRECTLY REQUESTED IT!!!!!!! If you do, the scammers will charge your phone bill ridiculous amounts of money and they will have your phone number to keep. There is a service Google provides that you can reclaim your number by either calling them directly (650-253-0000) or using Google Voice to do so. This is 0.5% of calls coming from this number.

3. Somebody mistyped their own number when verifying their account. This is the other 0.5% along with #2.
