- Cindy W. replies to JbP| 3 repliesI received a call from 202-506-8392 today 8/28/14. This is nothing but a SCAM!!
The call went to my voice mail. When I listened to their message they sounded very demanding. They stated that " as soon as I heard their message I was to call them back immediately or they would be forced to take action against me!!"
Needless to say I didn't return their call. I pay my bills and my Taxes. And the IRS never calls people, if that's who they claim to be from!! Bahahaha these people can go pound sand!! - Illinois ResidnetA recorded message claimed to be from IRS to call back immediately.
- Caller: Scam not IRS
- Call type: Prank
- Steve OI received same exact thing today here in Long Island. I was on hold with the IRS for a while until I looked it up on here. Thank goodness I looked it up.

- ABGGot a call (voice mail message) from Julie Smith IRS claiming a serious issue and to call back at 202-506-8392. I am reporting this Annoying, fake / fraudulent call.
- ArjunThey called me on saturday. Read out my case that was going to be filed the same day. I didn't understand, as I already was under of power of attorney for installment payment plan. IRS were not aggressively pursue on me. Yet, they say this was from last year, and fraud has been filed with penalties and interest.
Anna Jones is what she claims to be now. When I got ready to make the payment, they insisted it has to be bill of vouchers, and has to be the same day on a Bill of Voucher (reloadit etc).. But, you cannot specify IRS while making the payment - WHY THE F NOT, if you claim to be who you are?
They are real con artist, and I strongly suggest you to be not afraid of - "when they say sheriff will come pick yu up" ..
Tell them back this "FBI is tracking them and if they don't stop this scam and extort money out of innocent people with fear and false allegations, they are in for even bigger [***]"..
How are they getting the phone numbers, and from where? Someone from IRS giving out the numbers? Who is this lady supervisor who has perfect english accent and a perfect con artist.- Caller: fake IRS
- SCAM....read below. This info is from a .gov website. Address is below.
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/blog/fake-irs-collectors-are-calling
The Treasury Inspector General for Taxpayer Administration (TIGTA) warns that crooks posing as Internal Revenue Service (IRS) officials are contacting people claiming they owe taxes. The caller demands a prepaid debit card, wire transfer or a credit card number for payment. If the person doesn’t comply, the caller threatens to arrest or deport the target, or take away their driver’s license or business.
Thousands of victims have lost money to these tax scam artists. But there are ways to recognize them and foil their attempts to steal your money.
These scammers often:
- call you. But when the IRS contacts people about unpaid taxes, they do it by postal mail, not by phone
- use common names and fake IRS badge numbers
- know the last four digits of your Social Security number
- demand payment via a prepaid debit card or wire transfer. The IRS doesn’t ask for either of these payment methods, nor will they ask for credit card numbers.
- rig caller ID information to appear as if the IRS really is calling
- send fake emails that look like legitimate IRS correspondence
- make a second call claiming to be the police or department of motor vehicles, rigging the caller ID information
To protect yourself from imposters who call, claiming to be from the IRS:
- don’t provide any account or other personal information. Hang up the phone.
- never wire money to a person or company you don’t know. Once you wire money, you can’t get it back.
- if you owe - or think you owe - federal taxes, call the IRS at 800-829-1040. IRS workers can help you with your payment questions. You also can visit the IRS website at irs.gov.
- if you’ve already paid your taxes, call and report the incident to TIGTA at 800-366-4484.
forward emails from the IRS to phishing@irs.gov. Don’t open any attachments or click on any links in those emails.
- file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at ftc.gov/complaint. Include “IRS Telephone Scam" in your complaint. - AnonymGot a call from 202-506-8392. So, I am REALLY supposed to believe that the IRS is going to come after me, but then wishes me a good day? Ummm, yeah right. #FAIL Try again.
- Johngot call on my landline, from Julie Smith's office. same as everyone else. When i returned call they said they were looking for my wife. They refused to tell me the nature of the call, but asked to call back on Saturday. I asked them if they worked for the US Treasure Dept for the Federal Govt and they said yes. I confronted them, saying if it is true they work for the US Govt they have to share information in writing....i told them i dont believe who they are and i will disregard their call...at that point they told me "goto hell" and hung up.

- SoCalThey tricked me! When I got that message I called them back so fast, I got an Indian guy too. He said, "let me berify(v) the number"
So I give him my number and he said, is this MR. Blah blah (couldn't understand him), so I said no it's not, he said me must have the wrong number and we won't be calling you back again.
Interesting response - so I googled the number and here I am with you fine folks.

- MarcI have received 2 calls from this number, same as the others who are posting here. I figured this was a scam and tried calling back only to get voice mail with an Indian or Pakistan accent on the announcement.

- kb| 2 repliesJesus, how long does it take and how many people have to file complaints before something is done to stop these endless scam calls? Just called me again - same old scam - they leave msg on my answering machine and it's obvously fake. I never answer or call back, I just delete it while it's in progress of msg, or I delete it after it's over. I screen all my calls now - I can't even answer my own landline - and it's even worse right now with VOTING - these people are calling me to get me to vote for their candidate from dinner thru 9:00pm at night, waking me up and scaring me because my landline is supposed to JUST be for my elder care provider in an emergency ONLY. One telemarketer can send my blood pressure through the roof and rob me of sleep I desperately need. Every since I switched to Verizon I'm averaging 25 telemarketing calls a week; from 8am to 9pm, all day long; prior to that my personal line only rang if my mother called.

- K.D.I've received three of these calls over the last 4 days, same robotic female voice claiming to be IRS Officer Julie Smith and threatening action against me if I do not return the call, and same phone number. I plan to report as well.
- Caller: "IRS" imposter
- Call type: Debt collector
- BobJust got this call. Did not answer it went to voice mail.
Love this web site. - AnnoyedPerson with heavy indian accent claims to be from IRS has kept calling. When I start asking questions to proof that they were from IRS, "JOHN" will just hang up the phone. When I say I am not the person you are looking for, he said, i will put your number on "DO NOT CALL" list. If this is a legit call, why would putting my number on "do not call list" help? These people are not even smart to be running a scamming business.

- CWG40 replies to kb| 1 replyNo the calls cannot be stopped. They originate in India. You can protect yourself with a call blocker and also, do not pick up on calls you do not recognize.

- Las Vegas Resident replies to CWG40I received the same call. I told them I needed to call back to find an attorney. I called back 5 minutes later and said I needed a payment arrangement. When I told them I was recording the call they hung up. I called backed and they wouldn't answer. Called back a couple more times and when they answered they asked if this was the recorded line. I responded by telling them to never call my f house again. He told me to go f myself. I called back a couple more times and they will not answer. I guess they won't be calling me back to get their payment.
