Received a call from this number at 7:00 am on July 18'2014 A female advises me that she is from the IRS and that I should hire an attorney

The IRS does not initiate any legal action over the phone. Report it also to your local law enforcement agency. The scammers use voice over IP lines (e.g. magicjack (Ymax corporation). This is always against these companys' terms of use and can lead to termination of their contract. However only law enforcement can initiate the contact if you yourself are not a customer. Ultimately this is a case for the FBI legal attache in Islamabad. If you are really annoyed: call or write to your representative in Congress. As these scams happen all over the country maybe this will trigger a reaction (and the NSA can finally be a force for good).

I just received a recording stating the same IRS scam.  Ugg, thanks for first reporting this, makes me know it was a fake.

I just received the same call.  Recorded message, woman with accent.  Hard to understand, but could make out IRS, attorney, action against you.

I do received this lady's call this morning. She left me a message and said that to return her call before they take any action.

IRS phone Scam,   called several times today.  

I received this phone message twice and the lady sounded like a very threatening female robot.  I thought it was a scam because I always overpay my taxes.  

I just got the same call too. And It is in the Saturday morning, very strange. I thought it is scam, so I searched it.

I received my call,voice message, this morning about 10:45 July 22. She said her name was Officer Heather  Grey, from the IRS and to return her call or face legal allegations. Her voice was slurred and hard to understand, but after listening to her a few times I got it all.

Same call, twice today.  Report it and block the number like I do ever ytime they call.  They do just get a new phone number and do it again though.  I report it every time

I got the same IRS scam call...the robo message I got was a little different but along the same lines -

"Do not disregard this message and do return this call before we take any legal allegation against you, goodbye and take care"

I think the message was a little lost in translation
They also use the number (202) 506-9679 which has a listing on 800Notes as well

I also got same call ,recorded message yesterday 7/21 about noon a robot as you guys call it , saying that this is very important matter from the IRS ,and don't ignore it ,.Called it back about 10 mins. it was no answer , then tried it 5 mins. after and a guy picked up with strong Indian or similar accent and told me my name. When i told him that was me ,then he asked me if i have a lawyer ,cause i have 3 counts of legal action filed agents me for owing taxes ,i asked him questions like how come i didn't get no letter ,what tax year ,contract #,.....he didn't answer any of my questions besides kept saying that i need to pay immediately ,and told him i'm not paying crap till i see it in writing ,and told him to stop talking ,.Then he mumbled something and hung up on me ! I tried to callback  several times but they just picked up and hang up quick !Now i see it's stupid scammers

I keep getting calls from this number but it's not a "person" there is no accent, it's a machine but it does give the same message that it's an important message from the IRS and there's a case against "YOU" it doesn't designate who. When I call the number back it doesn't go through

The next time you get a live person tell them you don't have a lawyer but you do have a tracer on the call and their local police department will be there shortly to ask him / her some questions. Tell them it's nothing too serious just some routine questions then ask do you have the name of the person responsible for paying this phone line ... LOL sorry I am just tired of these scammers
