I have no idea what this call was in reference to

My answering machine got that this call was supposed to be for the IRS about a criminal action.  I will be reporting this number.

I received a call from 202-8516844 and they said thatat he was an IRS agent and said they were going to put a lien on our house. I told him that I am paying what I owe. I had a feeling it was a scam so I hung up.

I just received the same call saying they are the irs and there is a criminal law suit against me then I called them back and she started to curse me I feel it's a scam cause she couldn't speak English all that good couldn't understand her at all

Same here auto call then over seas operator.  For the US IRS? Criminal case for what? No additional information. No way IRS.....scam. where we all late on tax day? Some stupid list. Great.

This is an overseas operation pretending to be the IRS.

I got the same message. They kept calling multiple times. They called 8 times and left 2 boice messages about the same thing

Seemed I'm not the only one getting this call, some Hindu lady suppose to be some irs agent saying there is criminal action against me that I owe the IRS 3,500 dollars and I have to pay! I told her I'm gonna go to the local IRS office to talk to them and she started cursing me out and hang up on me then tries to call me back acting like she was someone else but it's the same lady her English wasn't too good couldn't really understand her

Tommy, I got the same call, same conditions, Hindu speaking people said I owed 3500 to IRS. I put the number in a google search as I was on the phone with them and this site came up. Supposedly, I will be arrested within the next 2 hours.

These people are claiming to be agents with IRS when asked what did IRS stand for, the lady says, "who the he'll are you"? With a very thick accent

She said the same thing to me then I told her I was gonna call my local IRS office and she got mad and started cursing me and hang up then tries to call back pretending to be a different lady but it was the same lady so just block ur number it's a scam.

Just got the same call dying there would be dire consequences if I do not call back and cooperate and that there are criminal charges being filed..I am 70 years old and don't owe anyone anything This being memorial day weekend Bill and I will be going away Saturday Sunday and Monday. Going to his moms cabin up in twin Mountain New Hampshire. It will be my first couple of days off in quite a while.really looking forward to the break

I got a call they told me to get a 500 dollar gift card and give them the number so I did now they won't answer my calls

Cody, I'm sorry to tell you this but you were scammed. If this were truly the IRS, why would they have asked for the money on a gift card?! The IRS accepts credit cards and checks, not gift cards. Check with where you purchased the gift card from; there may be a way to stop whomever you gave the number to from getting the money off of it. MAYBE. Unfortunately, it's probably too late but it doesn't hurt to try.

I received the call 2 times today both times by a man i could not understand telling me i would be in court because of a IRS debt that he claimed i owed
he then turned me over to some female and she said for me to get a criminal attorney claim to have sent 2 registered letters which never seen. Then she tolde me the cops would be at my house within 2 hours i told to send them on over I laughed at her she got mad then hung up

Its a scam, and its so common it has been exposed on the evening news on TV.  They call from many different numbers.  There's even a Canadian version where they say the CRA instead of IRS.
You can safely ignore them.  Or cuss them out.  Whatever floats your boat.
