they have been calling me for over a month from a private number. not to be racist or anything but the guy clearly wasnt even in america, and it sounded like he was in a warehouse full of other people trying to pull the scam off on other people. i told them to take me off their list and the guy told me he couldnt.

tried to make the call supper short like he knew that after a short while the call could be traced.

i didnt even think to ask for a check.

I'm more interested in what we all have in common, there has to be some company or service that we all have used that sold our information to the East Indians so that they could pull this scam off.

If they call again i'll just give them fake information, like a social security number with only 8 digits and none of them actually mine, these idiots probably wont even realize.

it is so clear they are not even in america, maybe they should come up with better fake names first of all and then learn how to say the names.

i dont beleve them when i call my credit card company and the arab tells me his name is Stan and i'm for sure not going to beleve it when these guys call.

if anything they are just wasting there time and interupting my work.

Jusy wanted to update to let everyone know that it's still going on and it's may 1st . Expect the number they told me to call was a 323 number this time

I just got the same call but it was from a 253-343-7176 and they told me the same thing that I as selected for grant money. But they didnt ask for my bank account info they wanted to know my mailing address which i still thought was iffy. so i didnt and the guy gave me a code (KK011) and told me to call 206-317-1478. I did and I told the guy who he was and that this wasnt going to work. also why did they need my address and he just hung up.

I just recieved/had the same call on yesterday morning from: 214-385-4215 - I did give out my last 4 digits but I don't think they can do anything in my situation - I only  have one open account with $9.00 in it...  I'm not working - I am a homemaker but good thing they didn't get my husband - he probably would have just hung up...  I don't know why I even entertained the conversation...

i literally recieved a call from 000-000-0000 this man said i had participated in a survey for the gov and that i would be recieveing $7,000 he already had my address and phone number so i asked for a number to verify. He gave me an acct num and phone number 202-657-5808 a lady answered and said that i could recieve it via western union, bank or card. I asked for her to send a check since they already had the address she that was not an option too many checks stolen so i said the obvious western union. They told me i would have to pay $200 to recieve the money, i send western unions regularly i've never had to pay to recieve one so i hung up.

I've been literally receiving these calls for weeks on end and they have gotten persistent now they ask for $3.95 and you will receive a packet and info in email. Already had my name address and email. They also asked me to have my family take advantage of the free grant money available. Same Indian sounding woman with a thousand other people it sounds like in the background. Its funny I know alot of cell phone companies and college finders I never gave my number to (and on one occasion I swear the same lady from the college finder was the same one who called me later about the grant) outsource calls and alot of the people you speak to don't speak or know good English but come on now the federal government. This has got to be a joke they are calling from a multitude of different numbers and getting aggregating. We have enough con artists in this country let alone someone from another country. It getting pathetic what ever happened to working hard for a dollar.

They are apparently still pulling this scam. I googled this call while I was on the line with her, as I immediately knew it was BS... I told her it was illegal to represent the government if you are not the government. She stated that she could assure me she was and would give me an operator number. I asked her what good would that do me, I told her to continue her speech so I could keep searching. When she was about to ask me for my bank account info, I asked her if I was going to have to make a $99 'donation' to American Infant Indian Charity Foundation in New Delhi, India by way of Western Union.... She promptly hung up.

I just got a call from a man stating I got $7500 in Federal Grant Money, and stated I got the money for free do to good credit, never filed bankruptcy and I was not a criminal He gave me code ED303 and said to call 425-296-7936. However they did not ask for any bank account number, but did tell me my address, phone number, and D.O.B. I did try and call the phone number and it just rings, no answer. They said I could have my money in cash, preloaded card, or directly deposited into my account. I know this is a scam, but I did want someone to answer when I called just to mess with them and call them out on their scam. oh well next time, and everyone else watch out!!!!

Yup, just got this exact same call.  Hope there aren't too many idiots out there getting scammed.  But there must be enough to keep this going.

If this lady call me ONE MORE TIME teasing me with this $7,000 grant I'm going to snap!!!

i just got scammed today and laugh at my self.. at first i was shock but now im okay it has been only an hour after i got scammed.. they said to me that all i need to do is send money and amount of 225+10$for transfer to india.. it was so fishy but i really need money for my incoming baby boy in anytime now my girlfriend live a thousand miles away from me shes in the philippines and im in california.. i was desperate so i took the chance..the teller in western union told me it was a scam. then i dont listen to her.. then after i give out the mtcn tracking number to the US FEDERAL GRANT PROGRAM but in india i still have the number and i waited mins and mins till it reach an hour then i just give up.. cuz i know its not comming back.. best lesson for me never trust anyone stranger and theres always no easy way to get money..now im short.. my gf baby is coming out.. and im only 19 ;( so its kinda depressing... well anyways guys PLEASE DONT FALL TO THIS CRAP!!! i got scammed.

I got a call today  and they said the same thing and told to call a 202 657 4861 when i called that number the first time it ring for a long time the 2nd time a guy answer and told me to send 250 as a deposit of. 250 that's the only way to get the grant.

they almost got me!!! glad i looked it up first

I received the same call, he insisted that I had to clarify how I wanted to receive the money.  He sent that they sent a letter and this was a follow up call. I told him to send me the letter again since I never received it and he said that in two days the opportunity will expire so there was no chance to resend the letter again.  

BTW...I use Amazon and H&R Block!

It happened to me as well, but i am under-aged. A man named John something told me i was qualified for a grant of $7000 (thick indian accent as well) and had all of my personal information. I confirmed everything, but later realized it was a scam and hanged up. He then called back again saying my name and with a whiny accusing voice why did you hang up? i then told him not to call anymore for i was under - aged and still lived with my parents (although they weren't so) he then started asking me for personal information such as my siblings, if i had older or younger ones, what school i went to and etc. I then asked him why and he said because he wants to meet me. He said i was a nice and polite girl. Then i hanged up. He hasn't called back but i`m scared.
