I've been getting hit with a lot of the "your computer has a virus" scams lately.  Most of the time there's no number to check out but today there was and it was the number above.  Lots of noise in the background, and an asian type voice with poor english.  I said hello, and they asked for Mrs. (with my last name), no first name which shows how they are fake or they'd have better info.  The voice mumbled over where they were from, and then started in on the virus thing which I knew to be a scam.  Within the last week I've had about 3 or 4 similar calls.  About time this stuff got stopped.  These days I get more calls from scam artists than legitimate.

Received a call from what sounds like the same Indian male.  He said he was from Microsoft (actually he said Windows which made it even more suspicious) and was calling because of "error messages."  He immediately asked me to turn on my computer and wanted to walk through "fixing it."  I told him that I knew he was a scammer (and shame on him for trying to screw people over) and not to call again.  I work for a large collection agency and after reading this thread, I think he may have been trying to break into our system... Other consumers state that they went through the computer process and ended up with spyware and viruses on their computers.  Be wary if you see this number - it is undoubtedly fraud at the lowest levels!

Same scammers.  I just told them to f off and die.

very heavy accent and would not clarify what he wanted. so hung up!

received a call 206-445-6544 East Indian man,he started to say something about my computer,I swore at him and hung up,he called seconds later,I didn't answer,he called again this time he left a very rude message calling me a dirty [***] and to s**k his c*ck.  I'm sick and tired of those JERKS,I won't fall for their scam,I reside in Canada,I don't know who to report these calls to.

received a call from 206-445-6568 didn't answer their call.

I received a call from 206-445-6568 at work and may have received more calls from similar #s in the past, but every time I pick up, they hang up. Probably because I greet them with my Law Office greeting and scared them off. So perhaps others can try the same - just pick up and say, "Law Office of so-and-so, how may I help you?" or "A,B,C Attorneys at Law, how may I direct your call?"

I pick up and then say hello " Scott xxxxx RCMP online fraud department" how can I help you (  RCMP is the Canadian version of FBI) If are stupid enough to stay on the line I say sorry I can't hear in almost a whisper do it 2-3 times and increase my voice each time- on the other end I am assuming they are jacking their phone volume up then I have an AIR HORN i blast in to the phone. then I say do not F&*^K We me, it work for a couple of weeks.

scary thing is where are they getting the phone # from.

I also use that # now when every filling out forms and I do want people call me. they  can call those [***]

Many of these people are calling from other countries through the internet with their phone numbers randomly generated or predetermined to try to trick you that they are local.  They may scan your computer and get PII that way and call you from an area code or number you may recognize to fool you.  They get information in many ways.  A common one is dumpster diving.  I had to run someone off that was in the garbage for our apartments last year that wasn't getting bottles to recycle or other things that a "normal" desperate person would be digging for.  This person was pulling papers.  I went out there strapped with a .40 and an Asp and told them to drop everything they had, and not to let me see them doing this again anywhere anytime.  If you steal someone's life savings that happens to own a gun and has a good knowledge of computers, you better be or get mobile!

Got a call from this number today, on a Sunday at that, it was from 206-445-6568, a middle eastern guy saying that my windows operating system had issues wrong with it, he wanted me to sit at my computer while he walked me through the system, I knew it was scam right off the bat so I told him I didnt have window but I had Linux instead, he hung up on me.

Got a call from this number, only no one on the line itself. Granted I am impatient, and only wait about 7s for a person to answer after my initial hello. Good to know its a scam.
