- KMWI received a call from this number. They asked for me by name. As soon as I acknowledged who I was, they hung up. Have a feeling I haven't heard the last from them.
- frankI just hung up (jiggled the receiver), so no message. I dont leave the answerer on anymore, but it's odd that we got 4 calls from ALLIED INTERSTATE and now this from TRIKON. I assume that scavengers attract other scavenger companies
- Caller: TRIKON
- Call type: Debt collector
- GWHI just received a phone call from this number and have been called by this same person previously. Claims he's from a Canadian pharmacy. I did order something from a Canadian pharmacy once about a year ago. I told him to stop calling - that I am not interested in ordering anything from them again and then I hung up. I've read the posts and haven't seen the same "caller", but it is the same number. I have never taken out a loan before, by the way.
- Caller: Canadian pharmacy
- ScottUnwanted call. No message. Looks like they are trying to scam people from what I have read on internet blogs.
- Caller: ?
- Scoob replies to The SaintThank you. They just called me and I plugged the number into Google to find out who it is and got this blog. I hope someone puts these scumbags into jail for the rest of their lives.
- Harrassed in CaliforniaI also received calls from 206-445-6568, 253-561-7911 & 206-445-6544. I have received these calls in the past. They come in clusters. They will call from one number and them repeatedly call you and threaten you. I believe they have my information from an online loan application I placed. What a mistake that was! Luckily when I was applying for this loan I had some hesitations and did not list the correct telephone numbers for my references. They say that they are going to come and arrest me at my place of employment. I tell them to come and try, I work in a prison and they would not be allowed on the grounds! They know the names of my family members, including the names of my deceased parents. They ask for updated addresses and telephone numbers. I give them the address for the cemetary that my parents are buried in. They say I owe them money - which I do not. When you ask for details they will not give you any information. If you call the number back you rarely will get anyone. The callers all have Indian accents and I believe that is where this scam is based in. They are abusive and relentess.
Please do not give these folks any information. When they call me now I actually have fun with them. I tell them that I will pay them whatever they want but they will need to talk to my attorney. When they ask for the name i slowly spell out "Mr. Go F*** Yourself.- Caller: unknown, would not state
- beejcall was a thickly accented telemarketer for Canadian Pharmacies trying to sell [***] pills
- Call type: Telemarketer
- gigipharmacy
- Caller: pharmacy
- jackI received a call from this #. They asked if it's me (mentioned my last name) and after I said "yes" call was disconnected. It was a strange noise in background.
Good lesson for me: if you've being asked this question from unknown or suspicious #, ask who is calling first. - lamet replies to Jackthat is this scam

If you are targeted by these criminals, be sure to report them to all the following federal and state law enforcement agencies (most of which you can do online or over the phone):
1. The U.S. Secret Service is responsible for protecting the country's financial infrastructure and payment systems from international and domestic threats. Call or write your local Secret Service field office to alert them to the details of this attempted extortion. The addresses and phone numbers for the local Secret Service field offices are listed at http://www.secretservice.gov/field_offices.shtml or in your phone book.
2. Alert the FBI at https://tips.fbi.gov Be sure to tell the FBI that you are being targeted by extortionists over the phone. And if the crooks claim to be law enforcement or lawyers, officers of the court or bankers, be sure to include that information in your report.
3. File a complaint with your local police. Most police departments will take a report over the phone. Be sure to tell them that you're being targeted by an extortionist and give them all the details.
4. File a complaint your state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.wvago.gov
5. File a complaint online with The Federal Trade Commission at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/FTC_Wizard.aspx?Lang=en
If these crooks call back, promise them nothing, pay them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you know they're a scam and that you've reported them to law enforcement. (And be sure to report them to all the agencies above each time they call you.)
By the way, here's just a small sample of numbers used by this particular group of scammers. Read the reports and you'll see the same pattern time and again -- phony organization names, thick foreign accents, and oddly worded threats that are so melodramatic and ridiculous that it's laughable:

Scam alert: Bogus debt collectors
By Leslie McFadden • Bankrate.com
Monday, Aug. 3
Posted 2 p.m.
Bankrate reporter Leslie McFadden contributed this entry.
This scam isn't technically about credit cards, but it is scary enough to post a warning. The Better Business Bureau issued an alert today saying consumers across the country are getting phone calls from bogus debt collectors claiming default on a payday loan. Of course, the consumer needs to pay a large fee to avoid arrest -- as much as $1,000.
The caller poses as a lawyer, and may threaten extradition to face trial if the consumer doesn't pay up immediately.
What makes these calls alarming -- and perhaps convincing -- is that the perpetrators reference the consumer's personal information, such as the person's Social Security number, driver's license number, previous bank account numbers, home address -- even personal references.
"The amount of information they have is really troubling," says BBB spokeswoman Alison Southwick. She adds that the amount of data points to a possible security breach.
Spread the word to your friends and family: Don't give out personal or financial information to an unknown caller. Scammers can spoof Caller ID to display different numbers, so trust your instincts over technology.
The BBB offers these tips:
• Ask the debt collector to provide official documentation which substantiates the debt.
• Do not provide or confirm any bank account, credit card or other personal information over the phone until you have confirmed the legitimacy of the call.
• File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online if the caller is abusive, uses threats or otherwise violates federal telemarketing laws or the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
• File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau online if you believe a debt collector is trying to scam you. - SammiMy call was a "lawyer" administrative briefing me on the case against my husband but never asked me to verify who I was. (we aren't even married yet so he had no right giving me any information) and then told me he was gonna be arrested and charged for stealing money from a payday loan place we have never used or done before. Had all my account info and everything. Scary but I know it's fake. Don't fall pray to these idiots.
- Caller: No Idea
- Call type: Debt collector
- KelleyDefinitely identity thieves! They said they were from Microsoft and that every time I opened my computer and opened Office a malicious virus was downloading and causing an issue and could I please go on my computer and confirm I had a virus. I just hung up on them. Everyone just hang up on them. Dont give them any information
- Caller: none listed
- rst1Indian guy saying I may have a computer problem with my WiFi and Windows. Want's to help me. I asked him what company he was with and how did he get my number. No clear answer to those qeustions. We went around for a while with him trying to convince me I needed his services and me trying to understand who he was. Hard to understand the guy as his English was so bad.
- Caller: No idea
- CarolCaller said it was my annual check up on Windows? You do use windows don't you? I said me what you have to say in writting. Click
- anonymousIf a stranger wants you to let him take control of your computer because something bad (spam, virus, etc.) has been detected on it or as coming from it, don't do it. He'll plant malware/scareware on your computer instead and force you to buy his software to fix the problem. And plant malware that steals login credentials and sends it back to criminals. Don't let anyone control your computer.
- CallerGot a call from "Alex" at Trikon tonight. He mimicked me when I said "Hello?" Then said his name is Alex and he misses me. I hung up. The caller id says Trikon. He has an accent. He sounds creepy and the call freaked me out a little.
- Caller: Trikon
- BritI just now received a phone call from 206-445-6568, a number which had shown up many times before as a "missed call' on my cell. I answered this time just in case it might be from a legitimate source that I do business with, even though I live on the East Coast and this call was coming in from Seattle, Washington.
The caller had a thick Indian accent, and instantly started trying to verify my identity, a dead giveaway that something may not be right. So I stopped in him dead in his tracks and asked him for his name, the name of his company and the reason for his call. He said his name was "Daniel" and went right back into asking me questions about my identity. So I stopped him again, asked him not to call anymore. I then went online to research his phone number, and found this website.
I think he may have stolen or has purchased blocks of stolen personal information that was released to hackers earlier this year at a student loan servicing company called ECMC. Since then I have had two instances of theft from my checking account through unauthorized debit transactions. My bank's fraud department was able to find the source and in both cases it came from Seattle, Washington. The idenitities of the individuals could not be determined. So if you have EVER had a student loan with ECMC or any of its affiliates be very wary.- Caller: Unknown
- CesarionIt's not only a loan question.
If you ordered pills in the past from India (even if you didn't know), they probably got your name and your phone number and now, you're done.
If you use a recent cellphone, try using a call filter. Most of them are free.- Caller: ???
