- Jjb replies to nanIsn't odd that the federal govt can't track and prosecute these guys. Maybe we need to authorize the FBI and NSA to investigate this. Might be more productive to improve our quality of life and reduce identity theft.
- Jjb replies to AmyNot political. Never say yes. Trying to steal you identity.
- MikeHuntleton replies to nanQuote:The 'Yes Scam' or 'Can you hear me?' scam says they record you saying yes and hang up afterwards. Then use the recording to charge you or open accounts anywhere. Its a rumor!Could you open an account or charge something to a phone number by simply saying yes and nothing else? Try it and see for yourself how that goes!
I think it is very irresponsible for anyone to help spread this "yes" Rumor, without first investigating and understanding any possibilities towards its validity.
Ask yourself this:- What scam scenario wouldn't work with a simple yes from the scammer them self, that could only work with a recording of your voice?
- How would a caller know who answered, it could be your wife/husband/mom/dad or anyone who answered your phone and said 'yes' that gets recorded.
- What legitimate company would allow anyone to charge a client's phone or open an account with only a recording of someone saying yes?
- Why would scammers spend the extra time and effort on something that is simply pointless and a waste of time? Scammers could simply record voices from the internet or even passing on the street of anyone saying yes, if they really had a scam that required a recorded 'yes', as that would be much more efficient than making hundreds of calls everyday for a simple yes.
The Yes Scam is merely a rumor and unproven to have any validity that it could work. There may be scams where you agreed to something unwittingly and got recorded, but they need much more than a simple recording of a voice saying yes.
Saying 'yes' alone has no impact on pulling a scam, since a scammer could just as easily say 'yes' themselves. They wouldn't know its you or some family member who answered your phone, so recording a 'yes' is pretty redundant. - 206-487-7420Ring - then a disconnect just as I answer after the second ring. I'd like to find the guy who invented robo-calling and permanently wire his testicles to the ringer on my phone.
- Will replies to BillIt's a robo call and the person is recorded. They have a really good voice recognition program behind the call, but it's not a real person. I played along and it understood me incorrectly a couple of times and provided the wrong answer. It did recognize "What's your name" and other questions. Politely hung up when I answered "No" to them calling me back.
- JoyDepending on my mood, I will answer unknown numbers and say; "Joe's pool hall. How can I help you"? After a few times, I am sure they change their number and continue to call. What's funny is once I started doing this, the number of calls has DROPPED a lot-from 4 to 5 times a day to 2 or 3 times a week!!!!!! No message left for this number!!!!!!!!!! Called today-June 14th at 2:13 pm EST

- DIE-SCAMMERIts a fraudulent robocall scammer. Do not answer the phone and block the number. If you answer and say "yes" or "i approve" to any questions, they will record your voice confirming your subscription to a bunch of fraudulent services in which you will be billed for. Illegal fraudulent telemarketing robocall scammer. Block the number

- TTRP replies to Raj Kumar| 1 replyBasically they want you to answer "approve" and "yes" at least once. Then they will take those responses and merge them with some other questions like: Do you want us to bill your credit card?
I have heard of such scams. But how would they get your credit card number unless you gave it too them? Would they just call the CC company and say this person authorized charges even though we don't know the account number? If they already had your card or bank account number they could make fraudulent charges without a yes answer anyway. - BigA replies to TTRPThe further question to ask would be "Why would they need your "yes or approve" to make those charges?" The credit card company certainly does not have a voice print of you saying those words, so in reality anyone could say "yes or approve", assuming anything could be done with those two words alone.
- CarolCalled at 8:45 pm. Told them I have no problem with President Trump. I use any words they could use later. Then hung up. If you call my home that late at night something better be wrong.
