Just got a call claiming to be from Microsoft Tech Department trying to get me to open my computer so he could show me how my computer was at risk. Heavy Indian accent, hard to understand. Kept rambling on about Microsoft and to not go online...etc. I told him I have a Mac, he said, "You have a Mac?, Please open Safari" I told him that this is a scam and to not call me again. He says, "I will call you again". I hung up and immediately blocked the number.

I got a robo-call from this number (206-777-1088) claiming that my direct-express debit card had been locked and that I could unlock it by pressing 1 and talking to the fraud department.   I don't have such a card.  Clearly a phishing scam.

Male with heavy Asian accent claimed he was from the "Federal Government" and I had been awarded a $7,200 grant because I've never filed bankruptcy. He knew my name & addy but wanted to know how long I had lived here & my age. I told him if he was a Fed he'd already know that & to just send me my money (lol yeah, right!) & hung up on him.

I just had a similar call after ten pm. He said my computer downloaded viruses. I asked him how am I to know that he was from microsoft and he wanted me to verify my software is number. I told him I would rather call Microsoft technical support myself and he said I could do that but went into his thug again. I cut him off and told him I would contact them on my own terms and that if he was a representative from a reputable company such as Microsoft he would understand and respect that but he continued and I hung up on him.

Good question. What ever happened to those old TV 'Public Service announcements'? I'm sure they could cut down on the Capitol Hill donut fund to put a few on the air. Years ago TV Stations used to air them for free as a public service. . . try not to laugh. It's true. they did it for free. Yes, I know. Hard to believe.

I was getting calls from a number 000-000-0000. Did not answer those. Then a number that comes up unknown and the phone sounds dead when I call it back. And then this number started calling and when I pick up it sounds like the phone is under water and clicks off. I never get telemarketing calls and I have no clue how someone got my number. It is a 515 area code.

This is the third call on my phone that I am not familiar with.  I do not ever answer these calls.  So don't bother. My friends, family or businesses are entered into my phone as most of us do.  So why answer something we don't know.

Why do people have to answer a ringing phone.  There is no compulsion that requires us to answer the phone just because it rings.  I get these calls every day and do not answer, since it isn't  a number i recognize.  any number that belongs to someone i know will ring with their name attached.  If its someone i don't know, then let it go to voice mail and if its important they will leave a message.  if not then it must not have been very important!
But i feel no need to answer a ringing phone just because mommy and daddy taught us to when we were young.  they werent always right you know.

An Indian man called and told me I got a 9,000 dollar government grant. I asked why I didn't get a letter in the mail or at least an email. He asked me if I had common sense.
