Just got a call from this number.  Didn't answer.  They left a message saying it was JL Teamworks with a toll free number to call back.

If it's a collection agency... I don't owe any money.

Re: What Bob said, well sorry to tell you no, not ALL bills from Sutter medical group are legitimate. I used to collect on Sutter accounts for another agency and on a regular basis Sutter had to up date us because they were wrong in their billing department. It got so bad our company would no longer credit report for Sutter. For everyone else, I'll give you some info that will ACTUALLY help you, in California we have something called the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. It is illegal for them to leave a message on a machine that does not have the full name of the person they are trying to collect on. If they call you before 8 am or after 8 pm simply tell them that they are in violation of the Act and you are reporting them to the state, that should stop the calls. Or when you answer let them say their little opening statement and just tell them that they are not to contact you ever again and that if the they do you will report them to the state for violating the Act. 98% of the time this will stop the calls, but there are those few collectors out there who think that they know everything and that they are above the law.

Oh and the bill that they are calling me about was paid. I never even got a late notice, the bill came and I paid it and now they are trying to say I didn't so there Bob!

the number they are calling is a business number. not a private home or other.
if they are a collection company maybe they should use that as the caller ID and
not some fake name or other.

I get a call from them every so often. They ask my boyfirend if he is a relative and wont tell him who they are. They never leave a message.

You will experience this at some point in your life yourself, if you're ever fortunate enough to get close to someone and live so long. Think about that before you pop off at someone who's grieving.

Called and asked for my husband and when I wouldn't verify my address they wouldn't tell me what the call is about.  I told her that since she won't tell me what it is about I will be tossing the information that I wrote down in the trash.  Very belligerent and abusive.

I received a notice on my credit report that I am delinquent with J&L, yet NEVER received a bill from the hospital (likely an adjustment after I paid the original bill), never received anything from J&L in the mail, nor any phone calls from J&L either.  Anyone have this problem too, where they go straight to your credit report?

This is a typical collection agency, located in Lodi, CA. They used to be J&L Services. They seem to get all the collection business from Mills-Peninsula Hospital Center in Burlingame & San Mateo, CA. They start out polite and end up being very abusive. Like most collection agencies they don't care what your story is and they can't produce any real proof that you owe any money to anybody, they just say, "You have to pay us...." Any time you have a billing dispute with Mills-Peninsula, you'll eventually hear from the lovely folks at JL. It's a tough business to be in, and a lot of collection activity is now being outsourced to India/Pakistan/wherever, so be gentle and remember that the person calling you is likely to be struggling along on minimum wage.

First let me say I never received ANY calls from this number. Rather I checked my current credit report yesterday and have THREE delinquent charges on my account and I have no clue what they are. Everytime I try to call this company, I get sent around in circles. I hit zero to try to get an operator and it'll tell me it's transfering me but then all I hear AGAIN is "please enter your party's extention or press zero for an operator". I must have done this several times before giving up.  I have yet to be transfered to a person. If you ask me, something funny is going on. Hey bob, if you worked there, can you answer me this? If they are in fact a collection company, how come I have never once received ANY type of collection letters? And, being a collection company, I'm sure they would be eager to hear from me instead of giving me the run around when I try to find out WHY they are CHARGING ME for services I NEVER USED!!!

    this number is for some insurance company or something totally random. I live about two or three hours away from Lodi and am thinking I'm just gonna go there PERSONALLY.

you need to apologize to her for being so an emotionally bereft jerk in her time of sorrow. Yes, the vultures are out for crumbs and i would avoid the phone too!

Actually, you CAN NOT GUARANTEE any debt is valid. JL Teamworks is taking the information they get at face value and do not know the validity of any bill. I have received calls from them trying to collect a debt that I do not owe. After some time and considerable headache on my part they finally stopped calling.

My advise is to send them a certified return receipt letter demanding proof you owe the bill within 30 days. Include in the note that just saying so does not make it so and that you want to see copies of the original bills. If they fail to provide you with such proof then tell them to cease and desist all collections and file a complaint with the FTC (they have a handy form on their website). Failing that, take their incompetent behinds to court.

Should they provide proof and it's legit, then pay up or make arrangements. It's their responsibility to prove to you that you owe any debt and should not be harassing anyone. Likewise, if it's your debt, it's your debt.

Got a call from these people today. They didn't leave a message, so I called back. They are an "accounts receivable" organization, or at least the recording said this. This makes them creditors. You are well within your rights to tell them to never call you again, then tell them if they fail to comply you'll be making a complaint with the state attorney general's office.

This usually gets people like this to cease and desist immediately.

Paid them on time and they still call...I have the cancelled check with J&L teamworks stamp on the back.  Check cleared 2 weeks before the deadline..
