- what a bunch of crap| 1 replyActually I got a call from this number and they were posing as something else then when I called back and left a message they called as the agency. What makes this so interesting is they used a different number on my caller ID and then it switched mid ring so they're representing themselves as another company and lying to get to you. I have worked in the collection industry and that "IS NOT" legal. They are lying. Sometimes we may not able to pay our bills due to our current situation, but they are outright lying to get a hold of you and they're supposed to be the honest company! I have noticed on some of these blogs they are sdaying hey pay the bill, we'll this must be one of their company represnetatives who gets paid probably $8 an hour to make themselves looks good! Why are they using a private number if they're the professional collection specialist. They shouldn't have anything to hide. Anyone who gets this needs to contact http://www.oag.state.tx.us/ and report them. BEWARE!!! Oh, I know they won't like this!

- collector_2006 replies to what a bunch of crapI do work in the industry. You can't switch caller id mid ring, when a call originates it sends out the ANI and that is it, you can't change an ANI mid ring...it just isn't possible. Check with a phone techie if you don't believe me. Are you trying to insult people that work in the industry? The average wage of a debt collector according to the 2006 ACA cost of operations survey is 30K +. That aint a whole lot but it is a whole lot more then $8 an hour.
Most debt collectors are honest people. In fact the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act does not allow debt collectors to disclose their identity to third parties (i.e. someone else who might view the caller id or answer the phone besides the person they are calling for) thus the reason for the "private caller." In other words they cannot broadcast that they are a collection agency calling for you so they hide their caller id because they have to, write your congressman if you have a problem. Hope that clears it up for you. Oh and if you do have a problem with collectors that are ACTUALLY violating the law by all means report them to the attorney general.
BEWARE!! "what a bunch of crap" is feeding you a bunch of crap, lol! - Yougrow up all of you
- FrankAnnoying voice in Spanish calls my cell phone regularly. Sometimes male, sometimes female. I just delete unknown voicemails, NEVER answer the cell phone unless I recognize the number. At home, same thing. Let answering service answer and then screen the voice. If unknown, don't answer. I have succeeded over time in reducing overall number of calls. They do quit, eventually. You don't have to owe anything to anyone. Their job is to collect, whether you owe or not is irrelevant. These people are thugs with a business license. My job is to ignore them. I call it phonecall management.
- Caller: TAM INC?
- Call type: Debt collector
- Talbot Adams and Moore| 2 repliesThis is the collection agency. We are a bunch of ruthless people who don't care what type of situation you're in! We agressively harass you to the point of making your life miserable till you pay that debt or die, whichever comes first (hopfully debt paid, then die). We'll ruin your credit to make sure you'll never get a decent rate on a new credit card so your credit limit will never be over $300.00 with a 24.9% interest rate(sounds like a great deal to us). That's why we are called collectors, we only invest in ourselves!!! If you want to make me mad and ruin our company name simply contact: www.oag.state.tx.us Thanks for your consideration!!!

- TAM INC replies to Talbot Adams and Moore| 1 replyNow that is just plain dumb! Debt Collections is a legitimate profession that actually keeps interest rates low by recovering debt for creditors...if agencies did not exist then we would all be paying the exorbitant rates that you mentioned. And the reason you are paying those higher rates is because you are a bigger risk to the creditor. Btw, it is "Talbott," not "Talbot..." at least have enough respect to spell the\ man's last name correctly. The reason many collectors have the sour attitude they do is because of people with attiudes like yours are so common. Get a job!
- Carl Owen sleeps with pigsGot a message from a jerk named Carl Owen from 210-858-2801 that was upset that I kept hanging up on him before he could harrass me.
Here is your message Carl - - - Eat &^%$ and die.
If you want to talk to me identify yourself or leave an intelligent message.
In case Carl has moved on to another career as a male prostitute, this message applies to all the other low lifes working at this phone bank. - Miky| 3 repliesThese are scum bags!!! They even come on this post and pretend to be someone who was called and then speak well of the company. These people will tell you anything to get your info and try to collect bogus, made up debts. Do not trust a word they say and take any post here that shows them in a good light with cation. It is probably them.
- DUCKIE| 1 replyI have asked them not to call me anymore
- Caller: UNKNOWN
- collector replies to Miky| 2 repliesYeah, thats it. They are crooks. They just make stuff up and call people to try to embezzle money. Thats why they are all in jail. Frogive me for being blunt, but that is just plain stupid. If they were doing such things, they would all be in jail. I am sure such scams exist, but there are also legitimate collection companies that do collect on legitimate debts. If they did not exist, we would all be paying 42% interest for everything. Get a grip.
- collector replies to DUCKIEDo so in writing, sent certified mail. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act gives you the right to request them to cease and desist from contacting you if done so in writing. Keep in mind it only stops them from contacting you, though, not from reporting the account to your credit bureau report or filing a lawsuit against you. You also have the right to request a validation of debt from them and the name of the original creditor if different from the current creditor.
- merl48 replies to S_G_ggdI am beginning to wonder how legitimate Tabbot and co. are. They agreed on a payment arrangement with me. I sent the payment on June 3 as agreed. On June 17 I received a letter saying payment was not received. They have about three different addresses. I know they received payment, but where is my payment? They call just about everyday. They start off the call as if they are a friend or something, not like a bill collection agency.
- merl48These people call almost daily. At first, they do not announce the call as a buisnes call. A payment arrangement has been made. I mailed my payment on June 3 as promised. I received a letter dated June 17 saying payment was not received. The company has several different addresses. The company has received my payment because everyone else I sent payments to this month received theirs. Is this just a tactic to add on more fees? If the company is not competent enough to acknowledge payments received, they should not be collecting.

- dt replies to MATTHEWThank you! I wondered who that number belonged to!
- SASSY| 1 replyThis person keeps calling and saying its Tax Refund Time.....I'm not getting a tax refund.....DONT TRUST THIS CALLER!!! But they keep calling!!! AHHHHH
- Caller: N/A
- goawaytelemarketer replies to heatherrenee2005How about you stop shilling for your white-trash employer and go back to work (bugging people)?
- CommonSense replies to heatherrenee2005Yeah, a legitimate company really asks for the exact same four numbers as millions of scam artists. A legitimate company has no other recourse but to ask you for this. Legitimate companies like Chase, Visa, JPMorgan and others always ask you for your SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER when they call. Oh wait, they don't, because they really ARE legitimate companies unlike the convict-run Talbot, Adams and Moore.
Obviously your company isn't doing so hot if you're trying to sell it online instead of conning people out of their SS#s over the phone. - NDominguez replies to MATTHEWThank you so much!
- Chels replies to S_G_ggdWell, they called me continuously and when I finally was able to answer, she said, "Hey, is CHELS there?" OK, Chels is obviously short for Chelsea -she tried to sound like she was my friend. And I said, "May I ask who is speaking?" And she said, "Oh, hey. Just tell her it's Cassandra". I asked, "Cassandra who?" And she replied, "Well, is this Chels? Because I just wanted to talk real quick". OK, when you talk money, you don't talk REAL quick. You talk for a good few minutes, ya know? So, anyway...I asked, "Well, who is Cassandra? How would 'Chels' know you?" And she replied, "Well, that's only her business - not your's" and when I said I was Chelsea, she wanted to talk to me about my account. I told her that I would not discuss ANY of my social security number (never do this AT all over the phone, unless YOU initiated the call..you just never know and FYI, a lot of places go by the FIRST 5 of your SS# -not the last four, so YES, it is VERY harmful to release that info over the phone). Anyway, I confirmed OTHER info and I said that I needed any said debt sent to me via usps in detail and she said her company did NOT do that and that is how I knew it was fishy because that is an entitled right to you as the debtor under the Fair Debt Collections Act...know your stuff! I'm not sure if it's the same for everyone but I spoke with a legal professional who said this was a scam. Be careful!:) And check your credit report!
- Chels replies to SASSYAlso, there was a number before this and it was a similar situation...i stayed on the line for a while and she told me that any payment I made had to be RIGHT THEN OVER THE PHONE with my bank account and we had to set up an auto-pay thing so I would not "forget" to pay this creditor. Well, I recorded it and other convos which I am speaking with an attorney about. My mother is also suing a company for trying to "collect her debt" -AKA SCAM HER! BEWARE!...This is just advice in your best interests. Anytime you deal with people like this, whether you feel they are legit or not, you need to speak with a legal professional beforehand.
