I got a scam phone call today. "Frank Thomas from NY" (he had an Indian accent)called from "Global PC Support working with Microsoft to clean malware" they had found on my computer. I played along with him. He even had my computer ID. He asked me to look at the eventvwr and cmd screens to prove he had my computer ID and show that a hacker was trying to get on my computer. He then tried to guide me through downloading a vpn session from teamviewer.com to let him control my computer. I called him out as a hacker at that point. He had his story down well. I asked him what his real name was, and he assured me Frank Thomas is a common name in Sri Lanka. ;) . I told him I was reading about the scam he was pulling online as we spoke, and he hung up. http://www.sevenforums.com/system-security/98111-teamviewer-scam-beware.html

I receive calls from his number every day about four times a day at all times.  The do not say anything and just sit there for a long time then hang up.  It is really annoying.  When I returned the call, it answered that it was an unassigned number at ABC.  Very strange.

Got several calls from this guy.  I could see it on my caller id.  Finally one evening when I picked up, I spoke with him.  I thought it was an Indian accent and I could hear other operators in the background.  He wanted to walk me through the fixing of my computer because it was sending messages to them that my computer's IP address had been compromised.  I pretended to do as he said.  I was to turn on the computer, press control, and the button two over to the right with the windows symbol on it.  Then I was to read what was on my computer screen.  When I told him I couldn't do it and asked for his number so my husband could call him back to fix this, he gave me a different number to call back.  He didn't want me to call the number back that was on my caller id.  So, I wrote down the number and waited a little while.  I called the number, got an Indian woman who claimed I was calling Global PC Services.  I asked what her company did and she said they provide Internet sercurity to companies etc etc.  Then I decided to google the number on the caller id.... guess what?

I too got a call from that number.  The man with the heavy thick accent, sounded Indian, stated that he works for Windows.  At first I thought that he was marking home improvement.  Until he started asking me if my computer is slow.  I lied and said yes, just so I can see where this is going.  He said that he can run a diagnostic on my computer to determine what’s wrong with it.  I asked how much it will cost, he said, nothing.  I told him these days nothing is free.  That’s when he hung up.

Same deal.  There were two guys on the line.  I kept them on the line a while and pretended to go along.  Then I told them I was recording the call and was it a problem.  They said it was okay.  Then I asked again what was his name, "Alex Walker" he said.  I hung up and reported this to the FCC at number listed above:

Received a call from this number, from a man with a very thick accent SW Asia/India possibly, with a lot of background noise like a call center. Told me the same thing my computer was downloading viruses and mal-ware, when I asked him how he knew that he responded with we can see into you system. At this point I informed him he was part of my computer security system and had therefore hacked into my system and was in violation of the law. He hung up. Now I will report to the law.

These people called and said my computer had viruses. Little did they know they reached the top I.T. guy for a well known security firm. I let them do their thing, thinking they had a sucker, while I traced the originating computer. Interpol should have the proper authorities at their door soon.

They're still at it today.  I was wondering why law enforcement wasn't knocking on their door.  The number must have an address attached, no?

Received NUMEROUS calls today from this number (caller ID says New York) obviously, not New York...people cannot speak English. I finally answered the call and they said that they have access to my computer and I need to take certain steps to eliminate this. That I need to go to Start Menu, Run and type in what they were telling me....they would then have access to my computer.
I asked them numerous times.....if you have access to my computer right now......what do you see???
After speaking with three people & I told them that this was a SCAM....they hung up on me.
PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS.....

Yeah same as above but the frank guy also called my 82 yr old mom who lives alone next door and told her that her son (my husband) owed him money... To make a very horrible long conversation short he told her he would kill her and her son if he didn't get his money!  That's going way far past a scam!  That's got to be illegal!  She has been upset for days!  This guy or guys is scum!

This number has repeatedly called in the last week (caller i.d. said from New York).
I finally got tired of it and answered.  An Indian accent fella said that he was calling
about my computer and that I had a virus that was contacting them and he just wanted
to help me, etc............  I told him he was full of it and yelled "SCAM!!!!" and hung up!

Received call that my caller ID said was from NY. Man who was English language impared, said he was calling about my computer. Since I had recently had computer repair done, I assumed it was a followup call and politely began to listen to him. He said he was from Windows..(1st red flag).. that my computer was sending out signals to them...(2nd red flag) ,that he could fix for free if I would go onto my computer and follow his directions...(3rd red flag). By this time, having also noted that I was hearing a lot of background noise such as one would hear from telemarketing.. (4th red flag),I began commenting and asking him questions that so confused him and his English language skills that he started his rehearsed lines over from the beginning. I had finally had enough and said so ....he just hung up. I came to this site and found others who'd had the same experience. I took Warren's advice... Sep 20...and called the FTC @ 1-877--382-4357 to file a complaint. Was advised to call my Attorney Generals office as well. Don't bother to do this. These people are calling from outside the country, routing to this phone # and using a fake caller ID location. Was advised to just spread the word to everyone that I can and so should you all.

From previous message ...wanted to make sure it was understood that it's okay to call the FTC, they will file your complaint. There's no reason to call the State's Attorney's office...nothing they can do. They advised to spread the word.
