Here is a response from Sepncer Green to Gartner after pissing them off a few years back... it's quite comical when you realize everything he claims to be against in this post is in fact what he supports for success at GDS... Well written though. Included is the original complaint by Gartner

Here is a response from Spencer Green, Chariman of GDS:

   "Dear Mr Mogull — while it is not my practice to respond to each and every comment on my company, I feel that this thread warrants particular attention. I too have the strange compulsion to defend. GDS International employed a member of staff two years ago who misrepresented our relationship with yourself and Gartner. He was caught before we received your letter and dealt with accordingly — fired for gross misconduct. The editor you mention did not leave the company based on seeing our "deceptive practices": they too were sacked (for a number of reasons, yours included). No computers were "seized". We made a full and frank apology to Gartner at the time, which was accepted, and our two companies moved forward. Misrepresentation is completely against GDS policies. It is antithetical to our business model — a short-term act that benefits the individual over long-term thinking that benefits the organisation. GDS is proud of the work we do, of the many long- and short-term business relationships that we maintain, and of our employees, who — this example excluded — consistently perform to our high standards. GDS has been trading for 15 years and currently employs over 450 people. In these last two years, we have grown 50% year-on-year. We are a robust, ambitious company with a solid, proven and scaleable business model — not a house of cards. It is a real shame that the actions of one GDS employee affected you. Hundreds more are working to produce the best business magazines, events and websites. I hope you will take the time to check us out. Thank you for the opportunity to draw a line under this incident. Rich Mogul:
"It came to my attention today that Business Management Magazine (www.busmanagement.com- not linked on purpose), part of GDS International, is using my name to sell sponsorship of their publication and some roundtable event at the RSA conference.

Not only do I have NOTHING to do with them, they were advised over a year ago to stop using my name or the Gartner brand to sell their reports.

I participated in an interview nearly 2 years ago, mistakingly thinking they were a valid publication. Reports started coming in that they were using my name to sell themselves, implying endorsement, and I retracted the interview before publication. The editor I worked with quickly left the company afterwards based on seeing the deceptive practices himself. He warned me that his computer was seized and the interview used without permission. It's over a year later and they are still using my name without permission.

They are also implying that they are timing the release of their publication with a major report I'm releasing. This is completely false- I have not revealed my publishing schedule. I don't even know exactly when the report is coming out.

I'm pissed. The only people who can use my name to sell anything are Gartner. If you ever hear anyone else implying my sponsorship, endorsement, or participation, please let me know."

I just email Rich Mogull through his Securosis Website and this was his response.

I don't think we really need to comment on the situation. This is long in the past for us, and we had to lock down that post after former GDS employees started using our site as a center for their dissatisfaction (which really isn't what we're here for)''




We need as many people as possible to get together and put the truth out there, hopefully the world will realise what is going on with this company.

In fact, he's the only person there that I liked.  
Sorry you had a bad experience with him though.  I'd wondered too why his name had been left off the lists, but I sort of supposed it was because others like me genuinely liked the guy.  
On several occasions I saw him rip sales people apart for lying on the phone.  Though, I am not sure what the line was, since most GDS employees were basically taught to lie on the phone.  I remember those two New York Times sales girls who didn't want to lie on the phone, and no one knew what to do with them... they eventually left.

I promise you that he is really not a good person. I know why you might think so, but everything about him is fake. I've seen and heard him talked [***] about everyone....starting with his good friend Rob Davis to sales associates. he smiles and walk around like he is the nicest guy in the world, ready to lend a hand to anyone and that is all [***]. he'll throw anyone under a bus. he is Spencer's pet! he is a horrible person! nothing about him is real. he pretends to be such a family man...it ughs me so much!

thank god. people need to get a little more serious about exposing this very professional and clever scam. having actually worked at gds, it is clear that the sales tactics and methods of getting people on the phone are not only unethical, but more seriously, 100% ILLEGAL!!. also, there is no way that the publications are circultated to the numbers they said they are. they cant afford it. its not legal to pretend to b someone else to get someone on the fone, its not legal to name drop and say u have relationshiups with execs that you dont, its not legal to harrass someones cell phone until they answer. i can bet everything i have that if any client of gds knew the process of how they actaully went about their business, this company would go under so fast it would make ur head spin. they try to control ur whole life, try to brainwash recent college graduates and  seduce them with all sorts of BS that a naive 22 year old would want.....bottom line, get more serious about exposing this company, call the DA's office PLEASE, also lets try and get the media involved. lets get the truth out there, start more blogs cuz more people need to know the TRUTH, not the lies and cover-ups that management is so good at promoting on a daily basis. and the people still working there...GET A REAL JOB !! ur too young and should take advantage of it and stop wastin ur time at gds----please reply if u would like to know more about the illegal methods that this company participates in as i would be more than happy to share information.

I checked this company out on Linked in and was absolutely astonished at the amount of VP, Directors this supposedly legitimate company has. PLEASE!!!!!!!

You are all obviously call monkies and it is an insult to all the hard working executives out there! I have read on this site that middle management are referred to as booters!

Well I am a booter that has TOTAL responsibly for over 3.5 million pounds of revenue per year - so [***] you!

I also thwarted one of your CEO's ( Histerical laughter) RAY DAVIES attempt to scam my company into buying and editorial with a named CEO, the price went from nearly twenty US to 6 in the space of about a minute - great negotiating!!!!!!!!!!

I used to work at GDS publishing and word is getting out about their scams.....

"SCAM SCAM SCAM, i used to work there, they tell you anything so they can get you to buy into their "summit" or "roundtable" or "advertisement". Then when you pay you get put in a magazine that get sent to NO ONE! its a fake magazine. They make up the circulation and everything. In reality the magazine gets made and sent out to only the people who paid to put adds in it. I quit cause they made us lie and do tons of work and they wouldnt let us sit down all day! I got 4 sales while I was there and now feel horrible about scaming people. AVOID THESE PEOPLE AT ALLLLLL COSTS. They act like tough guys or CEO and use fake names."

there are no real job titles at this company. a 22 year old college graduate will call companies like yours and say he is the CEO of so and so company.


spencer green is the CEO if you want to turn him in for anything. he needs to be locked up in prison. also rob davis and alex sobol too.

Somebody should report GDS to us, we have no record of complaints!

In order for the BBB (better business bureau) and the people that have the power to shut GDS down, all comments need to remain professional & concise.  Lets use the other forum to do this.  (http://gdsinternationalscam.blogspot.com)

Please give the names, contact information of people currently working at GDS International/GDS Publishing.  

Also please give any clients names/company details that they currently do business with.

At the very worse, if appropriate people do not see these blogs.  We go on LinkedIn, email their clients & show them this site.  They will not do business with GDS International in their magazine or summits once they read this.

It's a joke that this company is still around.  Spencer David Green, Owner, Chairman & CEO of GDS International / GDS Publishing:  you can't get away with this anymore.  

Social Media & the internet is a powerful place. This is a lesson is karma.
