Just got a call from Dustin Lewis from Window care. Asked for a call back number and gave the same one, 213-221-3528. These people must really be idots.

scammed from the same number..!!!!

Received a call on 1/2/13 from "Albert Green of Windows in LA CA" saying that my computer has been hacked and to go to my computer so he could "show" me.

Got a call from this number. A very nervous-sounding man with a strong Indian accent told me that my Windows machine was infected with a virus. He wanted me to get my computer and go online so that he could tell me very simply how to fix it. I asked for  phone number and his name, and looked it up online. Based upon the correspondence I see here, it would have led to a scam.
To be honest, the quality of this call-line, the strong accent and the tonality allowed me to judge this as a phony immediately. One clue is that the people always have a very hard time giving you the number itself and do not identify their company, address, employee number, title or anything that a real Windows representative would, and they didn't address my company name. Amateurs.

just got the call - one give away was that it came up as a private caller on the caller ID - this is not permitted for business calls.  He identified himself as Michael Paul, again with an Indian accent, and gave me what appears to be the usual speech of how my computer generated an error message.  I asked where this call was coming from and he said Los Angeles.  This did not sound correct, so I said, I like LA, where are you in LA?  His response was to ask me to turn on my computer.  I asked what freeway are you near?  He did not know what a freeway was.  I believe foreign call centers are required by law to identify their location upon request.  I did ask for the call back number which is indeed an LA number, but he finally hung up.

Just  out of curiousity, I did call it up, and heard the same voice answer as Windows Care, so they must own the number and forward the calls to a remote location.  I filed a complaint with the FTC.

Just got a call from this number.  Same as other people received - heavily accented woman by the name of 'Emily Johnson' from 'WindowsCare'.  Lots of noise in background - I expected her to tell me she was calling from India (which may have been the case) but she said Los Angeles.  Insisted I turn on my computer etc etc.  I asked for phone number and she gave me 213-221-3528.

I received the same call several times but would not give them any information. They insist on want to turn on my computer and I said to them I don't have it I lend it out. Then asked for a call back number and got the above one. They won't get info from me that is for sure.

I got a call from the SAME "private #" and when I asked for a call back # they gave me the 213 number.  I hung up on the guy after telling him that he was commintting a  CRIME by calling me with this scam!  I then contacted microsoft word who advised that this is definetly a scam. Shortly therefater, i received another call from Malaysia. . .but it was the same guy, telling me that he detected a vrus on my computer.  .I asked him how he was able to remotely access my computer. . .no answer. . .then i asked him to verify my name and  to verify my date of purchase. . .again, he couldnt. . . then I proceedded to give him a peice of my damn mind.  This fool had the NERVE to call me back, YET AGAIN. . .he left a mesage saying that he was sorry for my frustrations,  i must be angry b/c i must have just gotten into a fight with my husband. . ." CAN YOU IMAGINE???????  Then he said he would call me back in 2 business days.  i have put him on my do not call list and he is completly blocked.  These people are scam artsts. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR IP address or any identifying information abt you!!!! BE AWARE!!!

We just got the call today.  I am very familiar with the scam.  When I heard the Indian accent and "...errors on your computer" I suddenly begin to talk slower and get a whole lot more impatient.  "Who is this?  Mark?  I don't know any Mark!  Oh from Windows Center?  Which computer?  I have several.  The one I use the most?  It runs linux!  OH the one with Windows 8!  (I am a linux household here.)  Hold on."
How long can you make them wait without them hanging up.  (Lets keep score here.)
At one point he asked me, "Do you see the keyboard?"
"No, where is it?  My wife hid it from me again...  Hold on..."
I don't have caller id on my land line, so I asked if I could call him back.  To my surprise he gave me this number.  "Hold on I need a pen."
"2-1-3..."
"I SAID HOLD ON!!!"
"Okay okay, that is fine."
It is long distance though and I don't want to give out my cell number so my fun ends here.

SHILL Alert. Yet another stupid one. The only part of "Windows" is "Microsoft". There is NO service center of any Windows operating systems. Buy & keep up to date antivirus software, uninstall the crap from your computer, defrag your computer. Grand total cost: About $30. Do you really want strangers, that you met on the internet, screwing around with your computer & personal data?

I just received a call from this number last night. I don't know a lot about computers and they said that they were with the operating company on my computer. They said that they were from Microsoft Window Care or something along those lines and said it is the software on your computer and that they were getting error messages and that a hacker was in my computer. They could gave me my computer ID number which was this huge number and they had it right. I was uncomfortable about it but let them get into my computer to "clean" it. Then I called my brother and he told me to get off right away. I shut off the connection and they called me within seconds. They were angry and saying that my computer hard drive would crash and that their was nothing they could do to fix it now. I didn't give them my credit card numbers thank goodness but was afraid of what information they were able to get off of my computer. I am very angry with myself for being so utterly stupid!

Sadly you're precisely the sort of Appliance User these thugs want. You have the keys to drive but no idea what's under the hood. It doesn't take a programmer or webmaster to tell you that it's a bad idea in general to take orders from strangers on the phone, in particular those you don't comprehend.

I looked quickly,  and thought it was 212.  I would not have picked it up otherwise.  I have been tormented by scam calls recently.  I should "write my congressman" - sarcasm
