- castnetCall from some California Car Warranty company. Advised me that my Jeep warranty is going to expire. I told them I had extended warranty and then the lady, speaking is some sort of foreign accent, started to tell me what I needed to do and I told her thanks for your call but NO. then I hung up.

- mombittyjust got a call from this line. man asked for my son. told him my son no longer live here as he is in the military. he wanted my son's number which i didn't give him. he also queried the situation with my son's car. i told him my son's car was totaled. he made up some bs to my queries...said his name was jeremy, was in my son's platoon, and that my son was supposed to send him money. i said i'd gladly contact my son so he could make contact. caller said no, he couldn't receive a callback because he was wired with explosives. i hung up, called my son, and my son looked up the number on the internet. apparently this is a auto warranty scam.

- kmGot a call at 6:46 PM today from this number. I didn't answer and they did not leave a message. I then looked on here and tried to call the number back. I got a message stating that no one was available but to leave my name and number and they would get back to me or have my number removed. I did not leave a message as they did not give me a company name.
- Arkansas replies to Las VegasA man called my cell and asked for my husband by his first name, too. I said, "No, he isn't here, but this is his wife." He replied, "Oh" and immediately hung up on me. When I called the number back it was a recording wanting me to leave my information at the beep. I didn't leave a message.
- tomusCalled here first time last night.
Of course, I did not answer.
They hung up after 4th ring. - BillHave received 4 calls from this number. They don't say anything if I answer.
- ShaeWe are on a DoNOTCall federal registry and even though we report them (callers like them) nothing is done about it at all. We never get a follow up from the government by any means, so we don't report them at all anymore. We just don't answer the phone unless someone leaves a message.
- SalocinThe 213 271 2857 callers are unstoppable, it seems, after all the complaints I've read here. I, of course, don't answer strange calls during telemarket and scammers pre-Christmas blitz. Happens every year. I've turned in the more persistent caller-numbers to the Do Not Call people, but to no avail. On those rare occasions when I confront them, the same thing happens. They either ignore my request to be taken off their list or insult you, as it happened to many. Go ahead and try to find a way to get back to them and speak to some one who cares, it's as hard as fiding bin Ladin.
The same as one of the above victims, I, too, work nights, 'til 5 am, and these plague of telemarketers start calling sometimes as early as 8 30 am. You'd think with all the technology we have, there'd be a way to control this scum. - FloridaGot a call from this number today (12/16/09)at 2:19pm. They didn't leave a message.
- AnonymI have received this number along with several other numbers that are indicated by state. This one just says California, and the other two are Florida, and Georgia. It seems like both are a scam for some sort of vehicle warranty. Please don't give these people any of your information.
- Rose in SCGot a call from this number on December 15. Just now noticed it in my caller ID list.
I wasn't at home and my answering machine was turned off, so no message.
Caller ID only showed the number and the word 'CALIFORNIA.'
Got 4 more calls today (the 18th) also from CALIFORNIA but using an entirely different number, 925-364-9919. - How to File Complaints!!!Lately, I've been bombarded with telemarketing calls from many different sources. So, I did some research on how to file complaints with the Do-Not-Call registry and the Federal Communications Commission. I found that it was easy to file a complaint on-line with each agency. Please file complaints using the following web links. I am going to start doing this for every unwanted telemarketing call I receive.

- blue182_vThis number has not called me, but the strangest thing is happening! Some of the people who are called by this number in my city hit redial and call ME! I get about 20 calls a day from people saying "Hello, someone just called me from your number" and they're all in my city. I'm not going to post my area code, but my phone number is 213-2712, and somehow these calls are being routed to me! It is extremely annoying, as I'm sure it is for those people getting these calls. I've called my wireless company and they suggested changing my SIM card or changing my number. I shouldn't have to change my number, I've had it for over 10 years! I changed my SIM card and the calls stopped for about a week, but today they started again. This is ridiculous!
- Tammi JoJust got a call about 10 min. ago it said California on my caller Id. Nobody answered it was dead silence. Can we report them to the law and the law do something about these calls. I have gotten them several times before reguarding credit cards and vehicle warrenties. I just hang up. Does this leave any virus if you have dsl or any kind of internet that goes through your phone?
- Caller: California
- BKGet several calls from this number each week. No message, no one on the other end.
- Caller: unknown
- gtPhone scam for sure!
- bertfw| 1 replyJust got a call from "Vehicle Processing Department", it was a live operator. Caller ID showed Unknown Name. She wanted to sell me an extended warranty. I asked her what company she was calling for, and she went into a long explanation about being associated with BMW as their extended warranty seller, etc. None of what she said made any sense.
When she finished I asked what company she was working for, she once again repeated "Vehicle Processing Department". When I explained that I have never given BMW the number she had called she said that she had no idea how they got my number, and that the marketing department would know that. I explained that I was on the Federal DNC and that I would be reporting the call. Didn't get any real information out of her, but at least she was always very polite and didn't hang up.
The unusual thing about this call was it was from Daytona, which is where the dealer is that I get my car serviced - but not in the same area code as the dealer where I bought the car (300 miles away). I think what these scammers are doing is picking out a nearby dealership for whatever brand of vehicle you own based on your area code & exchange, and spoofing a phone number for that area to make it seem more legit.- Caller: Vehicle Processing Department
