- janetGet calls from this number. They say they want info for a free gas/oil magazine. Tired of telling them no so I just hang up.
- Ginger| 2 repliesCalls my cell phone - number displays as 213-976-5000. I did not recognize so I didn't answer. Thanks to Sugarbear I know I will NEVER answer it now!
- JonH replies to Ginger| 1 replyThis number called me on 5/27/2009 at 1030a central. It sounded like a bad connection, so I assumed a legitimate call at first. But as I was asking, "Hello, are you there," it sounded as though a recording was being played. I reverse-looked the number at whitepages.com and got nothing at all. I simply googled the number and got this page. Sugarbear, where in the WORLD did you come up with all that information.
I have had calls like this before, and the last time I took my battery out immediately after the call and didn't replace it for some time. NEver got the call again. It's stupid, and probably a mere coincidence, but I tried it again. I hope this f*cker tries calling me again, I'll FIND a way to take care of it. I HATE people who prey on others like this. IMHO it is one of the worst crimes against society as a whole, not just the individuals being duped. - BobI too I received 3 calls from this number. Two in a roll one day then a couple of days later another. I tried calling it back back my phone wouldn't let the call go thru.
- jaoShe says they want to give us Water World magazine a free subscription and wants company informatin verified. Not interested.
- apbThey called today and asked for my boss. i sent her to his voicemail and she hung up and called right back. she tried to give me this spill about giving my boss a free magazine subscription. i immediately cut her off and told her that my boss made those kinds of decisions for himself. she kept on about the magazine, and again i cut her off. told her i didn't know when my boss would be back. when she calls again today, i'll send her to his voicemail again. how annoying!

- Gracehad a call in nc. appreciate this info. When I called this number back, the operator said a call could not be made to this number. Another scam...
- den-dadHere we are in late August 2009, and this jerk still is playing his games. Is there no way to stop him...and her, too (assuming 'sugarbear' is real) [who the hell knows these days]! All I know is I'm tired of calls like this.

- Captain PackratBe careful, 976-xxxx numbers are premium-rate numbers, just like 1-900 numbers. If you call back, you might receive a substantial phone bill in the future.
This whole thing appears to be a scam: call people then hope they'll call back the number on the caller ID, thus tricking them into paying 99 cents a minute or whatever. - virusremovalalso was called by skyline publishing - melissa

I had replied "no thank you" as I do not wish to buy ad space on their maps to newcomers.
And asked to be removed from their call list.
Of course, a different person called me today.
When I asked for their web site (www.skylinepub.com ?) they said it was not ready.
When I asked for their CIO - they asked why, and I said, based on the two phone calls, that I am required by law to record all calls, log, and obtain addresses to submit a subpoena. To initiate sueing their ass.
Oddly enough, they were not even bothered by my request for information.
Heck, I would have been upset.- Call type: Telemarketer
- PailThey called me twice
- engineerI received the call 3 or 4 times a day. They wanted to send me a free subscription to a water engineering magazine. They wouldn't take no for an answer. They other day they called again and asked for me. I said "he is no longer here." They haven't called back since.
- Mr. HiHoThis number has called my cell every afternoon for the past week. Tried calling back once but got the same result as everyone else... can't connect.
- DmitryI have been getting calls from this number off and on for the past year. The last time i picked up, the guy was yelling at me about some mags i ordered and how he needed to confirm my visa that started with a 4.. i said to him "why don't you tell me the number and i will confirm if it's my number or not." and he started saying how i was going to have to pay for lawyers and etc if i didn't give my credit card number. i started laughing and i said "i know this is a scam, i don't have a credit card."
- ChrisThis number is for a company that makes calls on behalf of magazine publishers. They call me one a year to see if I wish to continue receiving a particular free subscription to a trade magazine.
- Call type: Unwanted
- JohnnyBAfter missing two calls from 213-976-5000 over the past two days, they called again today 8/12/09. The gentleman on the other side was calling to confirm renewal of a free trade magazine subscription (a network cabling magazine) - I've provided my cell phone # to them so the call was legit.
What wasn't legit was the caller ID, since calling this # results in what sounded like a phone company recording for invalid numbers. The caller was difficult to understand with a heavy Indian accent, and the call sounded as a bad VoIP connection. Nontheless, the call itself was legit...- Call type: Event reminder
