- gatey13This is the 2nd call I received from them at my mothers house, When I called them back the first time I actually got to talk to someone telling me that I am going to be taken to court, I asked for what, they said they didn't know that they are just relaying the message, I then said well I don't work where you or supposedly sending these papers or live at that address, I asked if I could give them my correct information so I could get the suppose of papers and documents, and I then stated that I filed bankruptcy, they hung the phone up on me, I called back and they said they couldn't tell me anything besides a warrant will be placed for my arrest and good luck and that they will see me in court, WTF?????? How can I get this to stop???
- brer rabbit09/09/2012 . . . they called while i was at work . . . my answering system picked it up in progress . . . "order to appear, restraining order, you or your atorney must respond within 24-48 hours.
Freaked me out!
Only thing I know is from having my motorcycle stolen . . . the thief is dragging his feet through the legal process. First you appear without an attorney . . . then a month to find an attorney . . . then plea bargain another month, then a court date has to be assigned . . . etc.
so I waited 48 hours to the minute . . . THEY WERE'NT EVEN LOOKING FOR ME!
i was so relieved i forgot to be upset until i had already disconnedted.
i thought they were after somebody important and tonight have read all of the other complaints and felt a need to share . . . i would like to call and really gripe but i was on hold for ten minutes.
i unfortunately have a bad credit card debt from 2006 . . . i get COLLECTION CALLS WANTING WAY MORE THAN I CAN AFFORD . . . I OFFER TO PAY $100 A MONTH AND IF THEY DECLINE I FIGURE IT'S ON THEM.- Caller: 214-556-5350 global leagal processors

- Alfalfa replies to marialuvsjazzConsumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

- JD replies to JanI received the same call on my home phone and a case number. I worked for collections agencies in the past and this did seem right to me. I didn't know what the recording was talking about. I called the number and was holding for 20 minutes before hanging up. I spoke with others who confirmed this sounds like a scam.
- JD replies to 2145565350My fiancee thought the term "restraining order" was strange. Why would a debt collector put a restraining order against you if you owe them money? It smell like a scam
