- Caller: Card Member Services
- Call type: Telemarketer
- FrankThis number called my cell phone. Did not answer because I did not recognize the number. Called back on a land line and went to an automated message saying " if you no longer wish to be contacted please press 1 now " Sounds like a scam to me.
- EwaCalled my cell. Only family and close friends have this number. So maybe they just dial random numbers.
- Caller: MI Call
- Call type: Telemarketer
- ShaunCalled my cell. My Truecaller app listed the caller ID as "Student Loans". Didn't answer. Didn't leave a message. Will be instructing Truecaller to block future calls from this number.
- TSCaller ID on my cell was MI, US. I did not pick up and no message was left.
By the things I am reading here, I would say that this is one of those infamous robocallers and the number is likely being spoofed, in order to appear as though it comes from the state I am in.- Call type: Telemarketer
- T WesleyPrerecorded call saying I was able to lower my credit card interest rate. Did not say which company, which account number, or use my name. "Press "1" to be connected to someone, press "2" to end the call."
- Phil"Michgan" showed on Caller ID. They did not leave a message. My number is on do not call list.
- CHRIS replies to CrystalACCORDING TO MY BANK, they will never call for any reason. If you are overdrawn, or anything, you will find out when your card no longer works. Then know you will then call them. Because of scams they NEVER call. They may send a letter. So ANY call supposedly from your bank is a scam. Your APR etc is on Experian and other companies like that. Your name and address are on the internet. Never give out your SS# or anything else no matter what info they feed you. Even your bank will only refer to the last 4 digits of your card number over the phone when you call them....just in case you are not you!
- Dave CReceived a phone call from this number on my cell. When I answered, they hung up immediately. My cell number is listed on the do not call list.
- BobCalled with recorded message. I hit 0 to yell at someone and transferred to someone with a heavy Indian accent. At least have the guts to do this with Americans. FCKRS.
- Rich replies to Jen L| 4 repliesWARNING--BEWARE!! These callers are B I G credit card criminals, known as the card service scammers! Under NO circumstances, give these lowlifes your credit card number, or you will regret it forever!
- sueCalled cell at 10:30am today. Did not answer & they didn't Leave message. These people need to get an honest job!
- Rose T. replies to Rich| 3 repliesHow can I report that I received a call from this number? Who shall I contact? A robo voice asked if I want to delete this number from calling again. It said to press 1 to take it off the calling list and so I did. Was this a mistake? Please help me.
- Rich replies to Rose T.Yes, it WAS a mistake to press any number. By answering, and especially by pressing numbers, you can expect to receive MORE calls from these, AND other scammers. Don't answer calls from numbers you are not familiar with! As far as reporting the callers is concerned, if you are registered on the State or Federal do not call registries, you may report them as violators, but the value of doing so is questionable, as the scammers use spoofed numbers. If you did not give them your credit card number, they can do you no harm, they are simply pests.
- LaborDay Treat| 1 replyGot a call (as I see many others did) today, early morning on Labor Day. Probably a stupid idea to find people home and/or a sign the callers are not within the U.S. Called a Federal/State "Do Not Call" listed, unlisted number. (Right, like "Do Not Call has one iota of effectiveness, or the "CanSpam" email spam-stopping.) Regulators for "we the people" need to hear from us, not from the direct-sales lobby, and we really need to put teeth into consumer/citizen protection-from-this laws.
- Caller: "Boone Falls, MI"
- Tom replies to Rose T.| 1 replyMy state attorney generals office/do not call list says to never answer them or call them back. They call my cell and on the reject list they went. I bought a 1500 number blocker device for my home phone. Well over 40 numbers blocked just in the last 2 months. Many of them daily repeat offenders. The do not call programs even at the State level are pretty much worthless. My state won't even take a report unless I answer and talk to them. Not on your life will I do that.
- Rich replies to TomMost likely, your response, and my own, were useless, as most people who ask for advice will never return to find the possible answers, or do not bother to respond. Those that do not care to learn, will be the ones that are victimized.
- Tamianth replies to LaborDay TreatThe DNC isn't a call blocker and can not protect you from the illegal callers, extortion scammers, foreign country's and frauds. Criminals do not obey laws simply said. They use spoofed numbers which make it hard to track them down.. it takes time to do this and many subpoenas for call records.
