Same old story here.  About two weeks ago they called and tried to get us to turn on our "infected" computer claiming to be from Microsoft.  This morning they called before 6AM.  Didn't even bother answering.
I think they call at odd times to try and catch people when they're groggy.

NEVER give out personal information to someone calling you on the phone.

These "Alibabbah's" won't stop calling me!  I'm getting a call every single day about my computer having some sort of virus.  They have the nerve to yell, cuss and scream at ME!  Wow!  Really?  First off, I was born and raised here from great-great-great grandparents that were well settled.  How dare YOU scream at me on the grounds I was raised on.  Second off, I'm not some stupid woman that they disrespect that has to be dressed from head to toe in all black sheet, with only my eyes showing, thinking that men are the superior of this Earth, much less a stupid desert monkey like that!  I'm too liberal to bow down to a man that hardly bathes, doesn't wear deodorant and drenches hisself in some God awful smelling cologne to mask over the funk body smell....and much less to any man for that fact.  I guess they found their match with me to say something with a strong and stern voice and opinion.  They're messing with the wrong lesbian!  Stupid [***]!  Go back to your land and let's bomb them!

Got a call from this number today (September 9, 2011) at 5:08 pm.  Just silence, so I hung up - I figured it was some kind of spam or phishing, so I checked online and found this site.... great idea.

In the past, we have had problems with repeated calls (the one about 'reducing your credit charges'), and the horn/airwhistle idea works.  After trying for weeks to get the calls stopped, we hauled out the sailing whistle -  from the lifejacket.  Next call we blew it, loud, and the calls stopped. Don't like to have to go that far, but it worked.

I've received 2 "recorded" message calls from this number saying this is a representative of the FTC and they are warning me that if I have received emails asking for any of my personal information to not give any personal information because it's a scam called "fisching"!!!  DUH!!! Fisching has been around for a LONNNNG time...nothing new....what the BLEEP is this all about?  RUN....AWAY....FAST....and do NOT under ANY circumstances think this is REAL....think about it....the FTC would NOT be calling individual households to give them a recorded message to "watch out" for fisching emails!!!  Somebody STOP these idiots!!!

I have had two calls from this number, 253-802-0308.  The last call was yester 9/9/11 around 2:30 PM.  I got the call on my company cell phone from a lady with a middle eastern voice.  When I answered she asked for me by name.. I did not confirm I was the person she was looking for, the only thing I said is how can I help you.

The lady goes gone by saying she's calling from the USA Government and that she has $5000 for me that I can use for school.  I told her I didn't want it... she when on to ask why and I said I don't take money from illegal scammers.  She said sorry for calling and hung up.

When I called the number back I got a recording from the federal trade commision that I was probably calling this number because of an e-mail I may have recieved which is a phishing scam that will steal your identity if you provide any information.  Go ahead and call the number back and you'll most likely get the same recording.

I got this number at 4:30 this morning and there was nobody there, just an automated GOOD BYE.  Very disturbing.  Anyway, not too long ago I had a window come up on my computer saying I had a virus.  It had the Windows logo and everything.  I had to click to get it fixed.  I did that.  Then they said I had to pay to get it fixed entirely.  Turned out that my computer crashed and my IT guy said that it was likely some third world country just having malicious fun 'cause they can.

Thanks for telling me before I got in trouble.
I will not answer my cell phone if I don't know who is calling.
I then look up the number on Google.  It sent me to you.

I am using a DROIDX2 but others can also do what I do after noticing a bad call.
    I have a program called:
Extreme Call Blocker  (it came with the phone)

I will now add this call to the blocker.

If they try again it won't ring.
I have a very long list.

This evening I got two calls;  First one was a guy (Indian accent) telling me he was calling me from the Computer Operation department at Windows.  I said, "You're calling me from an operating system?"  And I laughed.  He tried to clarify but upon realizing I was not going to bite he hung up.  5 mins later I got the usual silence, followed by a beep and "Good Bye".

Really, really annoying and I wish I could at least block the numbers...

It is just after 7pm and I get a call from a man with a heavy thick accent. He asked for Mr. or Mrs ____ I said I am sorry you have the wrong number. He said who is this and so the call went. Usually this shuts them up because it throws them off when you say wrong number. Anyway he started with the computer crap. I told him we weren't interested, they had called several times, I had reported them and my husband is a computer network administrator. He said who care and it doesnt matter and he started yelling at me... I have gone on the do not call list, reported it to the phone company etc from the last times. The phone company wants money to block the number...give me a break. We get it from every direction.

They must sucker some people because they keep on doing it! The number is 1-253-802=2308

ps. My cousin got a call too and she lives in a different province then me

These guys call me from different numbers at least twice a day so I now have call display and will not answer any calls from numbers outside my province I don't know. The numbers are always spoofed - the call centre is actually located in either India or Pakistan. As noted, it's a full out scam. I once got the caller so mad at me he actually phoned me back and started yelling at me, accusing me of taking him for a fool. I said he was indeed a fool because he was wasting time calling me back rather than phoning another mark. Some day the police forces in those countries will actually grow a pair and start throwing these people in jail.

Today is 9/12/11. Got a call from this number (second time) in California! Same thing--thick Indian accent, wanting to help me with some viral issues in my computer . . . blah blah blah. (Same as above). This company is a alive and well and thus far, nothing has deterred their concerted efforts to engage in "malicious" fraudulent behavior against decent, hard-working folks. (Pun intended.)  I am going to report them to our local police and FTC. While it is inconvenient for me (or any of us) to report them, hopefully, in the long term, the government will enact some laws about ending this type of behavior.
