I have gotten calls from this number listed as fraudster.  I answered the phone, heard a couple of click and then a robotic voice told me goodbye.  Make them stop, please!!

They (or he) is now calling from 253 802 0309 also. They called me on 5/27/2013 and they refused to talk when I answered the call. I hung up immediately. This must be some sort of scam. Can't the authorities do something to stop this? I reverse traced the calling number and it originated in Auburn Washington, and it is a cell phone.

It is not originating out of Auburn, Washington but from a foreign country. Way earlier in the thread a couple of Scandinavian posters reported the country was Djibouti (+253 is the Country Code for Djibouti just like +1 is for the US).  If their country does not use the same Caller ID signalling standards as US/Canada our Caller ID may be misinterpreting the data as being from the 253 area code in Washington.  In any event, even if they are using VOIP technology to display a US phone number the call center doing these dirty deeds is in a foreign country with little or no reason to cooperate with US authorities to shut these scammers down.  Short of finding GPS coordinates for the building the call center is in and sending in a drone to blow it up, there is little the US (or Canadian) authorities can do about these scammers.

I received a call from 0112538020309. I've lived out of the US before and know that to make an international call you have to dial 011 to get out of the country. I've also been in telemarketing long enough to know how things work regarding what phone number will show up to the caller.  Here's how it works. There's a computer "dialer" with a list of phone numbers weather they're real like from the phone book, or just a list of sequential numbers (i.e. ending in 1001, 1002, 1003, etc.) As the "dialer" keeps working, in an effort to keep the flow of business going with calls, and so the calls being made don't get jammed and interrupted, a separate phone number is set up with an answering machine to take the incoming calls. The phone number that shows up on called ID is a number that has been redirected to SHOW on all caller ID's... when that is not the actual number that's calling you. it's similar to how website addresses can be re-directed to another website. like my insurance company for example. I type in www.BCBSAL.com and it redirects it to https://www.bcbsal.org/web/index.html.   Needles to say, that job was stressful for me and I quit. however I learned a lot.  If you get a recorded telemarketing call, legally they must give an opt out option. ALWAYS OPT OUT to get on THEIR do not call list. it does not matter if you're on the National Do Not Call Regestry, you need to be on THAT BUSINESS'S  SPECIFIC DO NOT CALL LIST.  Whenever I get called and talk to a live person, I just say "Please add me to your do not call list, thank you" and hang up. UNTIL THEY GET EITHER YOUR VOCAL REQUEST OR "Sellect 2 or 9 (whatever) to be removed from further calls"  They will continue to call until they get an answer from you. so it benifits you to listen for a minute to get on their do not call list. Annoying, yes, tedious, yes. otherwise just don't answer.

I have gotten 10 calls over 3 days with variations of the number but all claiming the same thing.........  now I just don't pick up the phone if I see any variation of the number.    IF you ARE CANADIAN and get these calls you can call, 1-888-495-8501  and report the call and numbers to them.   They are the Canadian scam center.     I record every number that calls me and call that number and pass it on to them  :)
You would not believe how many people though that are out there that fall for this scam.....  that is why they keep calling.
They should have SCAM listed in the """Call Type"""  ... just say'n ;)

A man with a thick Asian accent (with loud call center noise in background) said my computer had virus or something. When I said please take me off your call list, he said twice to me, "You have very sexy voice, I want to f**k you."  I hung up and tried to caller ID the number but carrier says it is invalid.  How ON EARTH do we protect ourselves and our children from this kind of vicious sexual predator?!?!  I am seriously upset.  Also, I filed an online report with our police department.  Please say a prayer for this animal to stop!!

Received call from Windows PC Care Support,  wanted me to go online with them to resolve viruses etc.
Thick accent, could barely understand them.(female).  Gave me phone number to call back 213-438-9923 to verify they were legit.  I knew it was a cam from the get go.

They called yesterday, I didn't pick it up since I didn't know the number. The answering machine picked up and the Indian guy was talking to it like it was a real person. I expect his supervisor was standing right behind him. He said you have a virus and then paused and then said f&^k off and hung up.

Got a call from a man with a heavy accent. He said he was from Microsoft and that I had let hackers on my computer and that they were sending out all kinds of messages. That Microsoft was not responsible for this and that it must stop. I then yelled at him that I was not responsible for what hackers were doing. He said I had to sit down in front of my computer immediately and fix it or he was going to disconnect my computer. I told him I was at work, he said go home now and fix the computer. I said I could not leave work to go and fix my computer. He said he would call back in a couple of hours. I then talked to my computer guy and he said it sounded like a scam to get access to my computer. I then typed that number into the computer and found this site. These guys must have a huge operation to be reaching this many people. At least he didn't cuss or was filthy with me like some other people have reported. I am grateful for sites like this that let me know it was a scam.
    Thanks

3 days in a row I got 4 or 5 calls each day from them in a 2 hour period. Once I counted they let the phone ring 20 times. Thank God the other days I was not at home to hear that. My leg hurts so sometimes I don't answer and will check caller ID to call someone back later.  I saw Caller ID sometimes said "Unknown Caller " or "Fraudster"

    Hi every one,

Well it is really sad to see that this thing has been going on for over 3 years! I have been called today in Switzerland (!) where I stand right now. The only problem is that I am a forensic student..

    Be safe,
    Christopher

Middle eastern accent gentleman saying I had something wrong with my computer.  I told him I had already received these calls many times and to quit calling.  He said he would continue to call again and again.  I told him he better think twice as I would report him and that I was on the do not call list.  Which by the way no longer seems to work.
