- Bill in Canada| 1 replyI got the call yesterday morning and he explained all the problems my computer was having. He said he needed my permission to use the cursor on his end so I said ok figuring it was probably a money grab scam of some kind but I wanted to see where it was going. When he asked for $379.99 for restoring a disabled firewall, I disconnect him and shutdown the computer. I turned my computer back on about 10min later and I was locked out by a password!!!!!!!!! I used my tablet to google Microsoft Tech Support and get a # to call. 3.5hrs later I was past the stupid password problem. Funny thing is this # called me back again this morning and told me that it had come to their attention that I had been locked out of my computer by a password and they wanted to help....... I tore that POS a new one!!!!!

- Harry CallahanYou can shut theses a55holes out of your life if you do what I did and go to www.digitone.com and buy one of their Call Blockers. This thing really works and costs about $100.00. You can even suppress the incoming ring so that your phone doesn't even ring. This is the REAL DEAL and well worth the cost.

- GypsyMammaI got a call from 253-802-0308 today. The connection was very bad which makes me think it was from overseas. The man had a heavy accent that I could not place. What is really upsetting to me is that he asked for my minor child. I lied and said there is no one here by that name. He started his scam speech by telling me there is a problem with my computer. I told him to remove my number from his call list. He kept going with his scripted speech and I said again, remove my number from your call list and do not call again. He hung up on me. I am very angry that they got ahold of my child's name and are using it. I hate these scumbags more than words can express. I have blocked the number and reported it to donotcall.gov.

- Veronica| 2 repliesI just hung up with a guy that called me from this number. He had a heavy Indian accent. I managed to keep him on the phone for 32 minutes. I followed a few steps until he asked me to connect to www.showmypc.com. I knew that this could not possibly be a real call from a "WINDOWS CUSTOMER SERVICE CALL CENTER." Fortunately for me I have 2 computers side by side in my home office. So as he is speaking. I decided to pull up the website on the other computer. Then a ton of forums popped up on the call being a scam. I asked to get his ID number and this was of getting around that was giving me my so called computer license ID number "888DCA60-FCOA-11CF-8F0FF-00C04FD7D062" He thought by doing this, this was verifying to me that this call was real and to prove that they has my information from my PC. This is a standard file of some kind on every computer!!
So then I played along for a few more minutes. I said "I'm having errors and it won’t open the site." I did this a few times. Then I asked him to hold on because I had another phone call coming in. He told me to "hurry up". So I just put it on speaker and muted the phone to do more research on the scam. When I came back on I asked for his "Windows Customer Service ID Number" and a phone number so that I could call him back, He asked me "WHY" I said because I had to leave and that I would call when I got back home. His response was that "this was an emergency and that my computer would shut down if I didn't do this now." I then told him that I wasn't comfortable with the way he was raising his voice at me and that I have spoken to Microsoft, Dell employees several times and they have never spoken to me this way and now after this, I felt that this is a scam. He said "this is not a scam." I said "ok well then my computer will have to just go to my computer guy" and he said that he won't know what he is doing or know how to fix it. I responded back saying “yes he can, he always fixes my computers when I have any big problems.” The guy then called me a “F**KING B*TCH” in very CLEAR ENGLISH and hung up on me.
I had to laugh at that point because I knew I must have gotten him really mad that I didn't fall for the scam. I really hope I can figure out a way to help stop these people from continuing to scam innocent people that don't know a thing about computers and fall for this.- Caller: 2538020308 - UNASSIGNED

- VickiI recieve calls from this number quite often. I just picked up the phone and didn't say a thing. Next time I will have a chat with them. I fix computers for a living. so I figure if they are messing with me they can't scam someone else. I do have a bit of a mean streak and hate unsolicited phone calls.

- Reg| 2 repliesI got a call today from 253-802-0308 and they said they were with Microsoft. The guy spoke with a East Indian accent very hard to understand. After asking him 5 different times to slow down talking so I could understand him he claimed I had a virus on my computer,I jst laughed and he said what are you laughing at.I told him there was no virus on my computer and he got upset and said there was.So I played along not giving him anything vital to let them access my computer,I kept toying with him.In the end I said to him now listen here you [***] c**ksucker call here again and your going back to whatever country your from zipped up in a bag. So will see if these morons call again.I'll be sure to have some harsher words for them.

- Jeff replies to VeronicaThe website they try to direct you to is showmypc.com and that page is some remote access software that lets the person access your computer if you provide them with the access code to let them enter.Once they have access they take control of you computer, keyboard and mouse functions and the only way to rid of it is to shut the computer off with the power button cause you no longer have control of your computer except for the power button or pull the plug from where it's plugged in.Once they are in they will go into your windows hidden files and delete files that are associated with the operating system as there are folders there that keep very vital information like if you keep bank records or credit card information and all these are stored on .dat files, they make a copy of it to their computer. Then while the hidden files are open they delete some files that are vital to make windows run.In windows XP the file they delete is $ntldr$ and in Windows Vista or Windows 7 or 8 they delete $gtldr$.then they hide the hidden files again. Then tell you to restart your computer for the changes to take effect when infact they have just corrupted your operating system where you can no longer access windows. If you don't have the know how of reinstalling windows then you'll have a very expensive trip to the computer shop and have to pay $100 or more to reinstall windows and everything you had on your computer will be lost.

- CyNoffReceived a call today from this number but it registered "2538020308209753481". A lady with an Indian accent said she was from [can't remember] and was calling to check the status of my Microsoft Windows. I asked her to repeat and she promptly hung up. What an annoyance!
