received a call from this number and when i answered, caller hung up.

Received a phone call the 7:30 p.m. Approximately January 23rd 2014. Tried to call it Back. sure hope it wasn't a scam that follows this blog

I received a call at 9:18pm from this number.  Thank you to everyone who reported it here, as I won't call a number back if I don't recognize it.  I couldn't figured out who might be calling me that late, though, considering it didn't come up with a friend's name and it wasn't a recognized area code.

Thank you especially to ANonieMouse, though I'd like to make a correction to the time frame...I believe I received such a call...back around 1991.

Back then, I had a pager which I'd bought from a friend.  The friend was away for the weekend, when I received a page from an unknown area code.  I didn't call back, since I didn't know the number.  I chalked it up to it perhaps being a page from an acquaintance of the friend who had sold me the thing.  I went to work, where there was an area code lookup (no Internet the way we know it today) and discovered the call had come from...Puerto Rico, Cuba...some place like that.  Of course, when the friend returned from his weekend away, he didn't know of anyone from that area, so I soon forgot about the page.

It didn't fall into place until just now, but I'm sure in my mind that was the original scam from which many new scams have since grown.

rang twise, did not answer, comes up "unknown" on my cell.

Scammers that stole the information from retailers verifying associated phone numbers are working....or just a plain scam.  

Says Please wait for the operator over and over... Just a recording... Background is some crazy wild new wave music

This number called ne late at night , ranged twice then hung up before i could answer. I still dont know who these ppl are and would like to know who it is.

I don't know where you dug this up from, but that's complete rubbish. That's not how caller ID works, neither on cell phones nor on land lines.

I also got a call from this number. At 12:19am. I do not answer numbers I don't recognize.  Must be a scam.

Saw a missed call on my cell from this number.  Would not have answered anyway - probably scammers.  My carrier is Sprint.

Twice today it rings 2 times and hangs up!

Only rang once, didn't know who it was, tried to call it but got a recording didn't have enough in my flex bucket to make the call, thank you Cricket!

I got a call on my cel from this number tonight. I didn't answer and suggest you do not also.

Got a call @ 4 something then looked up this site writes over seas number

Don't understand why someone can't address this.  I am an ATT customer.  Get a call from 268-762-0134 MANY, MANY, MANY, MANY times a day.  Call. Hang Up. Repeat.
