Apparently, I am on a list to receive these calls lately - Had my last one tonight.  I filed a complaint against 2 numbers that call and use the same recording - tonight's number showed up on my caller id as '0'.  They want credit card numbers, when asked which card they are referring to, they say it could be my mastercard, visa, or discover, just give the number and they will look it up.  Like I am stupid enough to just give out numbers to complete idiots on the phone.  I've informed them I am on the no-call list and have requested they stop calling, but they continue.  Tonight's caller hung up on me when I told her this (I did manage to squeeze in my comment about my filing a complaint - I'm sure it will do no good and the calls will continue.    Does anyone know if filing  complaints even does any good?

Today I got my second call in 2 days from this #, although they have called many times in the past.  They wanted to lower my interest rate on CCards.  I called them the first day to tell them that we are on the Do NOT CALL list and he said they would not call again.   That was yesterday.  Today they called again and I refreshed them on our conversation yesterday.  I asked for the name of the company and he said "account services"  as if I would believe that was the name of a company.  I asked for the address of their headquarters office.  He said it was in FL.  I asked again for an address and he hung up saying he would have to call back with it.  TOTAL SCAM.  I swear I saw a dateline on this.

Here is the Maryland # that keeps calling our house phone.  301-882-9986

Is there anything that can be done since we are on the DNC list?

Again they call and I reported it to the National No Call System. If you do not contact law enforcement of some kind, then nothing will happen because the FTC does not resolve these complaints. They sit in a data bank to be viewed by law enforcement if the FTC deems them worthy of turning over to law enforcement. File complaints with your Congress person over this system that only works if a victim has the time and persistence to file complaints daily with law enforcement or hire an attorney.

We need an attorney willing to file a class action lawsuit. These crooks can be stopped, but only if we demand justice daily until law enforcement or civil attorneys see that the problem is large enough to be an asset to them either financially or political. The days of civil servants doing their jobs funded by taxpayers is long by gone ... they now need more motivation.

Here is the wording after filing a complaint....

    YOUR COMPLAINT HAS BEEN ACCEPTED

Thank you for filing your complaint with the National Do Not Call Registry.

Do not call complaints will be entered into a secure online database available to civil and criminal law enforcement agencies. While the FTC does not resolve individual consumer problems, your complaint will help the agency investigate the company, and could lead to law enforcement action.

Wake up!!!! It is not about helping you save interest or whatever. It is about STEALING YOUR PERSONAL INFO and selling it to other crooks. Ever get signed up for an unknown club charging your credit cards without your knowledge? They also make a charge to your credit card for their "effort" to save you money. They do nothing ... they never call any of your credit cards and ask them to reduce them. NEVER! The credit cards companies would laugh at them. They just plain steal your credit info and ID.

Has anyone tried contacting one of the TV investigative shows? Maybe if they saw this as a lucative show, they would come to our aid and expose the government for their failure to stop these crooks.

These crooks can be traced through the phone company and a physical location found. Somebody just does not want them stopped ... why?

Who are the morons here? It isn't them, but rather us the victims who don't have enough courage to demand justice and hold our government accountable. A moron is someone that is mentally slow ... these guys are smart enough to beat the system and outsmart any defensive or offensive effort we can think up. If someone can find their physical address and get names of employees and owners, then we can get them shut down in less than 24 hours without any government help. Until then we the victims are the morons.

Ask them if they have the courage to investigate or will they cower like the Attorney Generals, Congressmen, and other law enforcement that have been requested to act and cowered in the face of these criminals.

I added info to my complaints about additional calls to both the FCC and Wisconsin No-Call listing - here is what I heard back from Wisconsin:

These callers are phishing for credit card numbers and are being investigated by several states
and the FTC.  They using different names and spoofing the caller ID so it is very hard to locate them.  They may be from outside the country.

I guess we should keep reporting - if they ever DO catch up with these losers, maybe the amount of complaints can make something stick.  In the meantime, I intend to have fun with them and play along with their game to waste their time - I like the idea of being a confused person who can't quite make out the numbers on the credit card - I think I'll see how long I can keep them on the line before they get tired of me and hang up.  :)

thanks for this info -- we will call the FCC also.    It seems that someone should be able to trace this call?    Wonder how many people have fallen for this and given out credit card info.    I have, on purpose, hit "1" to talk with someone and once I probe a bit too far as to who they are, or I ask them to give me the credit card number they want to lower for me, they hang up.   My husband got it one night and asked them if they know about the Do Not Call registry, and they swore at him and hung up.   Call it a hunch, the calls are not "being recorded for quality purposes"    LOL

apparently once these idiots get your number they keep calling. Also, getting calls from 305-000-3525 (scam) I could block the number with my phone co (Comcast) for free using *60.  However, any number with a 000 prefix is not legit and can't be blocked.  I am furious. Can't anyone stop these jerks? I will report to do not call registry and FCC.

like your idea. I have called FTC, attorney general's office, phone co., Do Not Call registry etc. Our attorney general's office knows of this scam, but, can't stop them. If everyone would just scam them in return and make them waste a lot of time, maybe, it wouldn't be worth it for them to continue.

My other option is my whistle.
