- K LJust received a message from 302-279-3069. "James Caspin" (?) said he was from the US Treasury and if I ignored the message, it is a criminal offense. It sounded odd. When I called the number, the woman who answered said I reached the US Treasury but when I asked for their address, she hung up on me. When I called back, the message said that I had reached the IRS. SCAM. How can this be stopped?

- Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr| 1 replyReceived a scam call from this number, trying to pretend the are calling for the US Treasury department. Call is threatening. Caller is male, with foreign (Indian?) accent. Complete scam. These type of calls tend to increase at tax time. Don't answer, or hang up if you do answer. File complaints with these web sites: TIGTA, IRS, and FTC. I hate your categories. These calls are harassment, and there should be a category for that.
- Caller: James Gaston/Caston? US Treasury

https://800notes.com/forum/ta-5d4e343675a5629/call-blocking-devices - Tamianth replies to Erlen MeyerMost of these calls are coming out of India and Pakistan. Your best bet is a call blocking device or phone.
- Tamianth replies to GrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrExcept is goes beyond harassment - its extortion scamming. The correct category for the IRS falls closer to a debt collector. As in a way, they are collecting a debt owed to the government. However, the majority of these calls are coming out of India and Pakistan. We have no jurisdiction in those countries.
