Called at 5:30pm asking to speak with the home owner regarding our mortgage.  (We don't have one with anyone.)  When asked for her name she said Ermary Jones.  I asked for her supervisor to lodge a complaint for them calling my cell phone (it was actually my home number but I always say it's my cell as a scare tactic).  She said there was nothing illegal about calling cell phones and refused to transfer me.  Hung up when I asked for the name and direct number of her boss.

Called just now here (Toronto, Ontario) and wanted to talk about my mortgage.  Hung up as soon as I started asking questions.

I keep getting calls from this number. There is never anyone the line and when I call back no one answers. If a person is on the do not call list how do these phones calls get throught.

just received call from 303-442=9290 Indian accent advised me he was from windows and my computer had a virus he would fix. I hung up.???!!!!!

I just received a call from payphone 303-442-9290. I did not answer because I didn't recognize the number and figured if they really wanted to speak to me they will leave their information. I suggest all of you do the same so you can stay in control of your life and what happens to it.  Don't recognize the number leave a message and I decide whether to call back.

They called me today, looking for my mom. Saying they were the Florida Department of childrens services. I blantly told them that they need to learn more about florida before they impersonate it, conisdering its not even a florida area code. Considering ours is in tallahassee where all child support funds & divorce cases are handled, & they dont work on weekends. I told him, My parents have been divorced for almost 8 years. Im pretty sure, they woulda called a long time ago if my dad was gonna actually pay my mom anything other than child support because we'd have to go to court because me & my brother are still minors. They continually called & After i told them how [***] they were i hung up.

CRTC fines telemarketers for do-not-call violations


The CRTC took legal action Wednesday against two Indian companies for breaking Canada's telemarketing rules and tricking Canadians into purchasing anti-virus software.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission took legal action Wednesday against two Indian companies for breaking Canada's telemarketing rules.

They found Pecon Software Limited and Avaneesh Software Private Limited guilty of making unsolicited telemarketing calls to Canadians who had registered their numbers on the National Do Not Call List. The companies have been fined $495,000 and $12,000, respectively, and have been required to stop all calls immediately.

An investigation carried out by the CRTC alleges these companies would contact consumers and falsely warn them that their home computer was infected with a virus. They would then encourage them to purchase online technical support or anti-virus software, and in some cases even request remote access to the computer.

"Foreign-based telemarketers have been put on notice that they must comply with our rules when calling Canadians," said Andrea Rosen, the CRTC's chief compliance and enforcement officer.

U.S. and Australia also investigate

The investigation was launched in collaboration with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Australian Communications and Media Authority. The FTC announced Wednesday that it has filed a complaint in U.S. federal district court against the American office of one of the Indian companies involved in this investigation.

"We were pleased to work alongside the FTC during its investigation and we applaud its efforts to curb unsolicited calls from foreign-based telemarketers," Rosen added.

"Tracking down individuals and companies who violate telemarketing rules is a global problem. The coordinated actions taken by our agencies today send a strong message that telemarketers cannot use national borders to evade detection or pursuit by enforcement agencies."

The CRTC is warning Canadians about the dangers of providing personal information over the phone and encouraging anyone that receives these types of calls to file a complaint immediately.

Oct 9/12. Got same call, same rude 'dude'.  He told me he was calling from MS California. Bottom line, I told him I didn't care. I think the answer through him off his game plan. I'm to the point where I would really love to give up on computers and the 'net' because of all this harassment.

Individual claiming to be an employee of Microsoft's Technical Team located in California. Wanted to obtain my security number to repair my computer.

My wife get a call today from this number, and we life in Belgium. The man know my wifes name en asked if it was correct. After that, he hung up the phone...? Among the number on the screen stood Denver Co.

I received a call this morning from this number on my mobile and I'm from Manchester Uk.  Considering I don't know anyone in Boulder, CO I rejected the call and really happy I did having read these posts.

I receive 3 calls from this number last saturday during the day and one had a sound from of men from the back and hung up. The other 2 calls hung up after a while. Very anoying and disturbing.

I got a call in Denmark Europe. So they are going abroad.

These number has called lots of times. I told them to kiss my a**. Now they keep calling back asking me to suck their d**k. I have started recording the calls to my cell phone with tispy.net. Maybe i can go to the police with the calls.

Well we can add Australia to the list of countries they annoy.  Had a call just 10 minutes ago, hung up on him and just out of curiosity googled the number, and here I am.  He was asking about my computer and saying he had been receiving a lot of virus alerts, what a load of carp!

Just got a call from him a little while ago. I didn't respond because it would have been expensive for me (in France they charge us even for incoming calls). Lucky that i checked the web to see who could have encountered the same call. This is the second time one after another in 1 hour. When did i put my phone number in the bad place. damn :(

SCAM!!!!!   Got a call from them telling us that our subscription to Mircosoft was exprired on a brand new computer.

Showed as Pay Phone.  I wondered what idiot did it, so I answered (probably making me the idiot).   Only dead silence. Nobody ever said a word.  Number is now blocked.

Got a call from this number numerous times, this time I picked the phone up, bad line...Indian bloke on the other end, knew my name and wanted to tell me something about the iphone5, told him to bugger off, he kept talking, I hung up, unfortunately my phone can`t block numbers and neither can my mobile phone provider, maybe a good time to change my number.
