Our house, which just includes myself and my elderly mother are constantly being harassed (my poor Mum more often than me because she is at home more often) by parasitic companies fishing for information. The calls are largely (but not always) made by (I assume, poor underpaid Bangalore-based) gentlemen with Indian accents.

I picked up the latest such call on Saturday afternoon. As soon as I heard an Indian accent asking "Is Mr [My Surname] there?", I replied "It is Saturday. We don't do surveys, we are not interested in sales calls and I don't know you, so goodbye." and put the phone down. Within seconds the phone rang again, I ignored it for a minute and it stopped, so I dialled 1471 (a UK number to obtain caller ID). Usually, I hear "The caller has withheld their number" but, this time, I heard a number which I wrote down. I worried that as there was a call-back number this one might be legit, but I Googled the number which led me here.

Received a call from this number.....same story, some guy wanting access to my computer.  I figured him for a scam artist and told him I didn't own a computer.  No, not even a laptop.

Received the call from 303-442-9290, I didn't answer and a man named "Sam" left me a message asking if I am still looking for my lost cat and to call back 202-629-9017 if I still am. I am missing my cat, they got my number off of craigslist or one of the Facebook pages I posted on to help me find her. I googled the 202 number and found a Facebook page explaining that these people try to "help you find your lost pets" for a fee.

I received a call from 303-442-9290. The caller told that i must call back this number otherwise the IRS will be filing a suit against me. I hang up. Be careful.

Again with the IRS... Got a similar call from 200-71 with the same kind of description described in this thread - IRS threatening to file lawsuits.  What a scam!

They're calling me now in Canberra, Australia. Thanks for your posts here, I wont engage with these scammers. They've called twice and left a blank message.

Thanks for this Information!  I received a phone call from this number and they left a message saying it was the IRS and their final attempt to contact me. They are filing a lawsuit against me and they even left a case number.   Scared me for a bit but thank goodness I looked up the number and saw your information.

Caller id on my landline said pay phone when I answered it was a recording stating it was the irs and the irs was suing me to call 202 241 7272. Haha when did the irs use a pay phone and a recording to call another number! Stupid scammers!

Just received call from "Pay Phone" 303-442-9290. Left message that IRS is going to sue me and to call another number. I'm in my late 60's and know a scam when I see and hear one. Do not call this number back.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

i received a call 303-442-9290 pay phone. When I looked it up I saw someone else received the same call. Please put this on the on call list. Thank you

I received a call from this number and they left a message that it was an official call from the IRS and they are filing a lawsuit against me.  They told me I needed to call them back at 253.656.5016.  The IRS doesn't make phone calls.  This is a scam.

Here it is the beginning of a Nw Year and this guys are still at it, I got a call today from 303-442-9290 I answered the phone because it just said incoming call. Anyway some Indian man on the other end tells me that he is from Microsoft Tech and that I had a Virus on my computer, which he needed to fix or else I would not have access to my computer. Joke was on him because my Indian husband of 14 years is a computer tech. Nicely I said no thank you and I could still hear him talking as the phone clicked..

I answered because it said "payphone"..a woman then began to say she was from IRS..ahahahahha..payphone?
I hung up asap....

A robo voice telling me that it was the IRS with a "last attempt" to reach me before taking legal action against me and I should call a number which I didn't write down.  The CD showed "Pay Phone" and another "Pay Phone" number called me an hour before that but I didn't answer it.  Just another scam!  The IRS isn't going to call you from a pay phone and they won't call you anyway!  They will send you something in writing if they have a problem with you.

I was called at 12:15 today 2/17/15 from Payphone 3034429290 which I did not answer.

I just got a call from this number.  The name US Westmillenn came up on my call waiting.  A woman with a foreign accent said that this was my last warning...the IRS was about to file a suit against me and I was to call some number (I didn't have a pencil to write the number down).

Said I I am delinquent on my taxes wanted me to call another number  could not get to write the other number down in time, since it was a computer generated call.
