This is the "First National Collection Bureau" of Carson City NV., using false info to get what they want.

There is no one that knows of them being in West Virginia.

They have numerous complaints about the way they do business, if that is what you can call it.

It would be nice if our government would provide some enforcement of the laws in place that these outfits abuse.

Let answering machine take call. No message left.

if you report these companies to the better business bureau, or your state tax department, they can help. If noone reports the companies they do not know they are calling.

The phone rang twice.  When I picked up the phone, stated my first name & asked if I might help them, there was only silence.  After asking again, the line was disconnected.

Scary is exactly what they want. Fake debt collectors will sometimes make repeated hang-up calls to incite fear, so that you will call them back and agree to their demands. Real debt collectors will never do this since telephone harassment is a violation of the federal Fair Debt act (FDCPA) and the criminal laws in most states. The good news is that the police can easily trace these calls if they become too frequent, since the callback number is routed to a real call center.

No one answers when I say hello several times.

I've received about two dozen calls from these folks. Every time I answer, I hear absolutely nothing. 50% of the time I am in bed when they call.

Why anyone would need youtube legal advice is beyond me.  There is nothing a certified, return receipt "not me", cease and desist, or debt validation letter wouldn't accomplish.  then when they ignore that you can go out and get the lawyer you want in your area to sue them.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Recieved a call from this number 304-370-4058 last night around 8:00 pm. Cell said call was from Salem WV. I do not know anyone that would be calling me from Salem WV. Left no voicemail.

Called yesterday left no message.  Debt free but we often get calls when they are searching for someone else.  Very annoying and they need to be stopped.

I have been getting 2 or 3 calls daily from these people.  Never leave message.  caller id shows Salem, WV.

Call my home/cell phone and my work phone simultaneously, but leave not message and will not speak when I answer - they just hang up.  I believe they are trying to collect a debt that is beyond the Ohio statute of limitations for someone that I have POA for while they are incarcerated.

You are very welcome!.  But it is not hard at all for me to believe that they fall for this stuff.  Most people in America have no knowledge of the law and what their rights are, it isn't taught in school along with how to balance a budget and live within your means, and is no longer taught by parents to their kids.  So when these people call up with their finely honed spiel, people get scared, go into a panic, and capitulate.  The fortunate ones come here first, the unfortunate ones after.

Someone called from this number and we let it go to voice mail and of course they did not leave a message.
