Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

I wish these people would stop calling me and threatening me as well.  I have been homeless for almost a year and these people have been calling me and threatening me all day.  I believe that I spoke to the same person with different names 4 times and then they told me to get a life!!!  Is there something we can do to make them stop calling?  I dont want other people to feel like this...I was scared.

Everything you are talking about, I was harrassed about the same thing today....but they are using a diff number now which is (786) 347- 5791. I reported this number already..do i suppose to report this to the police?

Absolute scam and typical of the cadence and language the Indian debt scammers use.  Ignore them.

Call blocker might be your best bet.  Also, don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize.  It's important you do not talk to these people.  They are looking for the vulnerable.  If you talk to them an d they sense vulnerability they might hammer you with even more calls.  They go after women, single mothers, the elderly and members of the immigrant community.

Don't be scared.  Be aggressive.  If you have to talk to them tell them that you know this is  a scam and you are reporting them to the authorities.  Yell at them and speak over them;--they only understand brute force.  Kick their [***] verbally  and don't let anyone push you around.

Then block their calls.

Call Type: Debt Collector

Bonner and associates a guy by the name Liam Knox phone number 305-507-4761 and saids that I got a lawsuit from US Credit Services.Also told me I went sent more than nine subpoenas via email.He said I noticed you changed your bank account , He informed the frozen account number, my social security, he informed for whom I work too.He gave me a case number with ending letter and their in Miami, Florida a dress of 201 South Biscayne Blvd., Miami,FL 33131.He also told me I'm gonna report the lawsuit to your local courthouse so they should picking you up no later tomorrow at your job
I already reported them to my bank, police, Fraud Detectives at my job., Police Station filed report too.

I just got the same call from law offices guy with deep Indian accent saying Monday morning they are filing suit against me. Could tell me for what or anything but wanted my information to file with...I guess he doesn't realize Monday is a federal holiday...he told me god help me and I told him the same.
He called me from 646 918 5884.....SO BOGUS. ..Be Careful

I recieved a threating phone call from a person named Mark saying I was being sued and that the sheriff would be on my doorstep tomorrow at 11:00 to arrest me the phone numer he is using now is 305-507-4761

He is the same one that called me today only the new phone number is 305 507 4761 same message

I got a call yesterday from that same area code. This time he told me I was a suspect in a situation. Never told me what the situation was. He said his Name was Brandon Smith. "Really"? He sounds like he's from India or something, so I know Brandon Smith Is probably not his name. As a matter of fact, I believe he's the same Brandon Smith who called me a few months back and told me I was going to receive a free grant and all I had to do was get two green dot cards from Walgreens and put 50 dollars on each card and mail it to him so I could receive my "free" grant. Who the ham sandwich does he think he's trying to scam? I told him I believe he was scamming me and he went crazy trying to defend it. I just hung up.

Got a call from the same number telling me that owed $5484.87 for all types of charges that I have no clue about. The caller said his name was Jonathan Smith. Knew it was a scam the minute he asked if I had any credit cards. Sounded like he was from India. Told him it sounded like a scam and he begin to get defensive. I hung up in his ear.

Got the exact same call from someone named Jonathan Smith saying I owed the exact same amount of money, $5484.87, for bank fraud. Knew it was a scam when he asked did I have any bank accounts or credit cards. These scam artists need to be stopped.

How do we get this Kevin Jones person and all his associates to stop with the phone calls?

I got a call from a Brian Smith he's from India the new scam number from Bonner and associates is (240) 821-6474 'they are trying to collect on a debt that has already been written off as a charge off'this needs to be reported to the Federal Trade Commission I told this mr. Smith. What he was doing is capital fraud you threatened me and said that there was a summons that I was going to go to jail that's also a felony so the name of the company is Bonner and associates in Maryland

I keep getting phone calls from this number telling me I owe
Like 5,000 dollars on a loan that didn't take out and there is charges filed against . They say they are from Bonner andassociates a attorney's office they also say the authorities would come and pick me up if i don't pay and they would call my employer. They have threatened me .They say there names are John but you can't understand them they like from India and calling from a call center because you can here other people talking what attorney's office calls from a call center.
