Fake Life Alert pre-recorded cold call
Started giving me some spiel about how I needed something *like* Life Alert. I hung up

do not call me..if /when i need your services  I WILL CALL YOU. these scammers are relentless. ready to give up phone completely

Call, today, came in while I wasn't home.  No message left on my answering machine.  
This is NOT the first time I've gotten a call from them.   Last time, I answered because I was curious.  The man had a perfect American accent.  As soon as I suspected him of wrong-doing, he defiantly asked, "Don't I sound like an American from an American company?",    I told him he studied well.  He said to prove that he was real, I should look up the website.  I told him I didn't doubt there was a website, I just doubted that he was representating the real LIfe Alert.  This guy wouldn't shut up.  He was very determined.  I told him how sad his life must be to have to work as a scammer/criminal.  I finally told him that I wasn't born yesterday and I didn't have "stupid" written on my forehead.  I hung up.
This phone number is now blocked.  And future calls will get blocked as they come in.
You'd think that in this day and age, we could permanently get rid of these phone calls.  Why hasn't someone done something?  Of course, we can't prosecute because they aren't in this country, but there must be something that can be done.  First we need to address the problem of spoofing phone numbers.  They all do it.  Then after that, surely we can somehow make these calls go away.  
Well...I can dream.

New variation of the "free medical alert alarm" offer starting with a statistic that there are recently 281,000 hospital admissions for hip fractures and 1 out of 5 sufferers die within a year. This is scary enough to make me hold on to my credit card and not get a system from a stranger calling my phone to quote hospital statistics about fractures.

Of course they ignore the Federal Do Not Call list, which certainly tells us something about their business ethics, doesn't it?

[they:] "Recently there were 281 thousand hospital admissions for hip fractures among people age 65 and older and one out of five hip fracture patients die within a year of their injury. Don't gambol with your personal health and safety. Get a free medical alert system shipped to you for free with no charge for activation but you must act now. Press one to get your free system. Press five to be removed but to be protected 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, press one now." [7 second pause] "Good bye.".

[At least they didn't say "...laying on the floor..." or "...for help just press a buh-uhn..." Gotta give them credit for this, lol.]

Back on July 22, 2014 I mistakenly called 800-722-2113 (Life Alert) instead of 800-722-1213 the Social Security Administration number.

Every since then “Life Alert” has been calling my house at least once or twice a week. I pressed number 5 on my phone dial to have my name removed from their database.

Well apparently this company Life Alert still calls from 307-316-7473 every week.  Finally I stayed online, pressed number 1 on my phone dial and very soon a lady answered. I started to explain to her my situation, she hung up on me.

scamer they even gave me a web page to look at  but on the page there was no contact place no e mail phone number sign up address no way to verify who the are. this is not the national company that's been around for a long time, they are not the one on the tv ad

Since August 1, 2014 I have received 26 of these type calls on my cell phone which is on the do not call list.  I never answer, but as soon as one gives up there is another.  Very frustrating, sometimes wonder why I bother to pay for the phone; but it does come in handy to make outgoing calls when I am out and about and on vacation.  Similar problem with my land line.

800notes is not affiliated with your callers, we are not calling you either. 800notes is a forum for reporting who calls you and any information you may have about the call to share with other forum users. It is highly doubtful that your callers are reading here also. We can't stop anyone from calling you either or remove from a list.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

Right, the government must be selling the DNC list to the telemarketers.  It couldn't be that the scammers don't give a crap about the DNC/aren't in the US.

Again, it must be a government conspiracy based upon the DNC list.  Couldn't be that they are scammers who don't give a crap about the DNC list.

The scammers (all of them) are NOT in the U.S.  What do they care about U.S. DNC lists?

Are you paranoid enough to think that the DNC List actually sold your phone number?  C'mon!

This is a scam, do not answer unknown callers.  The computer will continue calling if a live person ever answers.  If this becomes an unreasonable harassment, contact your state's Attorney General.  Unfortunately, the telemarketing lobby in Washington is powerful.

3rd call from this number with Life Alert on Caller ID.  Will not answer as if I wanted to do business with them I would never do it by their cold calling me!  There are far too many scammers out there to ever trust a cold caller.  If we were to all ignore and not answer these calls over time we might put an end to this disgusting practice.

Have received 2 calls from this number in less than a week.
These people spoof numbers. I have received 2 calls recently and on the caller ID was my name and telephone number. Obviously I wasn't calling my self.
If you, as I do, get a lot of calls that show no name and all zero's for the number I have no choice but to answer those. Most of them are scammers but some are legit calls from Dr's offices, mail order pharmacy, etc.
