These illegal spammer/scammers called my DNC listed number twice today.  My call blocker disconnected the call so the idiots immediately called back... to the same result:  Disconnect.  Perhaps I should be reassured that scam artists trying to prey on the elderly are so clueless.

Actually the DNC list is REQUIRED to be provided (for a fee) to anyone who uses the phone for marketing. It's the only way a "ethical" telemarketer would know to NOT call. BUT the unethical will use it as a call list. My advice, if you're on the Do Not Call list and get a call. Listen to their entire spill. Then say "I wanted to waste some of your time as you have mine." Then HANG UP! As long as it's profitable to call, they will. Make it frustrating for them.

I was surprised to see "Life Alert" instead of the ubiquitous "Unavailable" but they left no message on the machine, not even the charming "you'll fall down and die" threat.

Automatic dialers simply dial every number in succession. They don't care about the DNC list. As my father used to say, "Locks only keep out an honest man."

Well Glen,  only the first time counted.  Since the DNC is now one time thing,  a permanent deal,  the last 3 times just made it into file 13 each time,  while putting you off of the list until the next 31 day registration cycle each subsequent time you Re-registered..  Like marriage,   once you sign up,  it is until death do you part unless of course you cancel your DNC registration.

Welcome to a brand new day and a brand new number (for me).  Have had at least three Free Medical Alert System calls - from different numbers.  When machine picks up, messages are already rolling so you will hear middle or end when you are told what options to select.  Scams - most definitely!  This caller left no message.  Since these are not toll-free numbers, like to think that when machine does pick up they must pay for the call!!  This probably does not keep the scammers awake at night, but it does give me a giggle.  This call came in 10:50 AM from Casper County, Natrona, Wyoming.  At 9:13 AM call with no message came in from Chicago Loop, (312) 768-1770.  Their message on 9/12, 12:36 PM, mentioned that "Free Medical Alert System".  These characters call any time during the day hoping to catch someone.  Another chuckle comes from those "Final Notice . . ." people.  Longest running final notice ever heard - at least over one year.  DNC does have its limitations regarding overseas callers with a few other exclusions.  Used once, did not renew.  Not their fault.  That is why good grifters make a point of securing as much information as possible.  Unless you are expecting a specific call, simply do not pick up.  Do believe we have a very good resource in 800Notes.com.  If numbers and details appear online, someone someplace is going to take notice.  Message:  YOU HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AND ARE UNDER SCRUTINY!  HAVE A NICE DAY!  Hats off to 800Notes.com.  Thank you for this service.  Also, many thanks to all of you contributing to this forum.  Information is power and perhaps we can wish beddy-bed-bye-bye to these miscreants very soon.  My call volume does seem to have tapered off.  Stay well everyone and remember, offer no personal information to anyone over telephone unless you are transacting real business!!

I think that the National do not call list is worthless.
It doesn't stop anyone from calling.  I get this scam call about twice or three times a week, often twice in the same day.  They have a computer program that dials the phone number, one digit advance each time.  They don't care what list you are on, and the computer program certainly doesn't.

NATIONAL DO NOT CALL LIST is a law that some congressman thought up to get votes.

The do not call registries work exceptionally well, but ONLY with LEGITIMATE businesses. The medic alert for senior's scammers are CRIMINALS,  out to fool people into giving them their credit card numbers--that is their ONLY purpose in calling. Legitimate businesses generally abide by rules and laws, criminals do not-- unfortunately some people are not able to differentiate between the two.

I received a phone call from them this morning.  Caller ID said Life Alert.  I never answer the phone unless I am sure of the person calling.  I went to the Life Alert website and found a Fraud Alert on the front page.  It says that they never make phone calls and that these callers are looking for your credit card info (what else is new?).  I get 3 or 4 calls a day from these scammers and was so tired of it  I bought a new phone system which will block 250 calls. The phone is a Panasonic KX-TGE245 b, has 5 handsets for @$99.00 on Amazon.

No one is using a DNC list as a call list for telemarketers.  That doesn't even make the slightest bit of sense.  Why would any telemarketer target people who don't want to be called?  That's just begging for the phone to be slammed in your ear.  The explanation is something much simpler:  The spammers and the scammers don't care what number is or is not on the DNC list.  They use robo-dialers that dial one number at a time.

These illegal scamming anal sphincters tried calling my DNC listed phone again on 09/20/14 @ 1411 hours but because their number was previously blocked, my device disconnected their call automatically.  The sure sign of an idiot scam artist is calling DNC listed numbers but, when those same scammers try to target the elderly like these morons do, that's what frosts my backside.

Relax and quit overreacting.  Some people must be watching too much Fox News and becoming paranoid.  If you get one of these calls, simply don't answer it or block it.  No big deal.  I get a lot of these calls.
