They can and will have your license suspended. They do this by sending a complaint to the DMV under your state's financial responsibility laws. This only applies to car accidents. I know they do and can, because they did it to me in Colorado.

I am not a shill, I am just correcting the misconception that this cannot happen. There may be some states where it can't, but in Colorado, it certainly can. From a quick Google, it appears in most states it can.

This firm may be a law firm, but what they are operating is a scam.  I am attorney myself and I know how professional firms operate.  My husband received a letter from them claiming he was involved in some sort of incident in 2012, very vague, no details provided, not even an exact date.  I called the firm and the woman with whom I spoke first indicated they had a police report on file, then said, "oh, no wait we don't have one in the file."  She then said, well your husband's birthday is XX/XX/1964.  I said, no, that's not even close to my husband's birthday.  She said, well let me look into this and I'll get back to you.  She never called back, but my husband still continues to receive threatening letters.  There is no possible way that my husband was involved in any incident back in 2012.  The whole claim is bogus and the way this firms operates is very shady and potentially even criminal.

Did you just take their word  that they suspended your license or did you actually contact the DVM to confirm?  Chance are they are feeding you a line of BS.  Who are you supposed to pay to restore your license?  If it's them then that should raise a huge red flag.

Yes they can do this. If you are at fault for an uninsured accident you are 100% liable for damages. They don't suspend your license but the state can and will!

Well obviously no one is going to post all that information on a ridiculous site like this but feel free to contact the office and speak with management and they would be more than happy to verify any information you are requesting! Please let me know if you Google any other law firm and all their personal info is listed in plain view for the general public

No the firm cannot suspend your license but again works directly with the state and the state decides if they will suspend or not. I highly doubt anyone was told they would be arrested as that is obviously out of the firm's jurisdiction in any state. And if you are out of state the firm has forwarding attorneys that would handle the case for your particular state if the client would choose to pursue suit.

Exactly.....if this was a scam then the company would've been shut down a long time ago. And if all these people had legit complaints then I would like to see where the firm was sued for anything illegal or any type of misconduct

Well it's not a collection agency it's a law firm...BIG difference! And it cannot suspend anyone's license but does send necessary documents to the state which then reviews for suspension. People are notified of this so they can contact the office to discuss and they are made aware of what could possibly happen. Obviously complete documentation of the claim will not immediately be mailed out as it is private and confidential.  Not every address obtained is current and don't think any of you would want something like that just randomly sent out in the mail for anyone to receive. Hence why the letters say to contact the office to discuss. You can then request any documents available to verify the claim. Common senses people!

Well do YOUR own research!  FDCPA regulations only have to be followed if claim falls under FDCPA which most don't. Most claims are not debts but tort claims and therefore do NOT fall under any FDCPA guide lines. So the next time you want to tell someone how to do their job make sure YOU know what you're talking about and don't give legal advice when you have no clue what you're talking about

Well good luck with that! Go ahead and research on how many suits have been brought against the company and how many were justified.....you people are ridiculous and it pretty much comes down to those who don't wanna pay for their mistakes

Glad you are wasting your time to post all that....you need to know the difference between a debt and a tort claim....majority of all these claims are torts and not debts so they don't fall under FDCPA guidelines. Love how people think Google search makes them right or knowledgeable on any subject

Funny how you think you have any idea what you're talking about. This form doesn't "buy" anything and especially not from a bank. All our clients are insurance companies (country financial, state farm' liberty mutual, safeco) all legit companies who hire the firm (not collection agency) to get reimbursement from the uninsured party who was at fault for damages already paid out by the insurance company. And yes in some states the DMV cannot suspend if the claim is litigated then a judgement could be ordered to suspend until the claim is paid off. AGAIN FOR ALL YOU WHO BELIEVE TO KNOW BETTER....DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!

Sorry to be the honest one....but you were suspended due to your own actions and not following the law. Again why it's the LAW to have insurance. Why do people continue to think they can continue to break the law and then blame someone else when the consequences of their OWN actions come back to them. So accept the responsibility and stop blaming the firm for your life being ruined and blame yourself. These are people doing their job because you didn't do yours.

Subrogation claims are not covered by FDCPA but may suit a state law definition of "debt", and therefore your reported hostile tactics may yet expose you to liability. "Do your own research! ..... Common senses, [sic] people!"

You're not sorry to be the bullying one, evidently. It's your company which is seen distorting the truth surrounding claim disputes which often turn messy. Just like your illegal cousin debt collectors, your first instinct is to blame the victim, facts be damned.
