- Caller: debt
- Bert replies to T2RDGIRL| 1 replyWages can also be garnished if you have a judgement against other types of debt like old credit card balances etc.
- HankReceived same call and voicemail as others. Conclusion: "John Thomas" or whatever name he is using is a con artist. Calls will continue to go ignored.
- Margaret| 1 replyReceived call from Mr John Thomas saying I owe serious legal debt. Faxed him a copy of a blank check so he can try to get my debt settled. Seems like a nice man. That was before Christmas does anyone know how long it takes to get it off my credit report? I also have a reverse mortgage can this affect the payments I get from them? Thank you

- heather mack| 4 repliesGREETINGS MAM\SIR, Number 1 the person you have been speaking with is employed by a company that goes by POWER CREDIT SOLUTIONS but they are really LEGAL DEBT MEDIATION LLC. this company is not based out of Chicago as implicated when they call you from the office!!! They are in Jacksonville Florida. They do not comply with any of the FDCPA COLLECTION LAWS and charge erroneous fees that should not be passed on to the consumer. As it relates to fees it is unlawful for anyone to charge you a fee for processing your payment to repay a debt the fee they charge in addition to what they claim you owe is a merchant fee that they incur and pass to you which is violating their merchant agreement and credit card agreements with Visa, MasterCard, and American Express!! I advise you to contact your bank and charge back any funds you have given them. By law they have to notify you via mail prior to contacting you and they cannot increase the original debt owed upon them purchasing the debt from the original creditor which is what they do!!! you always want to see your original loan\advance etc. documents or original acct. number or some sort of proof of the validity of the debt. Myself and my spouse unfortunately worked for these crooks for a long time and they make allot of money deceiving people and coercing them to pay with all types of scare tactics like jail, wage garnishments, liens, judgments etc. which can't do any!!!!! You can also contact a consumer lawyer that can assist you in recovering damages as a result of this scam and unlawful practices. The physical address to this company is 3990 confederate point road Jacksonville 32210 and 5310 Lenox Avenue Suite #7 Jacksonville Florida 32205. The persons owning and operating are James Powell and Brenda Powell Tate. We hope this information is of great assistance to you!!!
- CWG40 replies to MargaretWell, if you are serious, you've basically been scammed. Someone has your checking account number, your bank number and your routing number. Chances are you have no valid debts that can be legally enforced against you. Go to the bank and cancel that account and get a new one. Do it quicktime! Never give financial information to anyone you do not personally know. Read the other notes. This is a scam operation. Have you actually looked at your credit report to determine if these debts are actually on it?

- Kathleen ColeTwo people have telephoned me. My SmartPhone can block numbers, so I have blocked these people. Callers John Thomas and Deborah Smith have called, saying virtually the same thing: A claim has been filed under your name and Social Security Number. It is imperative you return this call; this concerns a serious legal matter.

- Don't Do It!DO NOT ADMIT THAT YOU OWE ANYTHING! Tell them that they must provide you with all information as required by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and you will review the documentation. Don't admit that you owe a debt, or even that you may owe it - they will record your acknowledgement of the debt & try to use it against you.
- MitchellI've seen the number 4 times on my caller ID. They've never left a message. The last time they called I pushed the headset button but didn't say anything... I didn't even put the headset on. If they continue calling I'll keep doing that. It just started yesterday so if they decided they had something they could have left a message. I know it's phony but I might as well irk them as much as they're irking me.
- Colleen replies to MichelleMost likely! They call from several numbers and cannot send me any documentation. I can not find any paperwork showing a loan back in 2011 going in my account or them trying unsuccessfully to withdrawal it back out. 4 years later before anyone contacts us???? I called the sheriffs dept fraud dept and they said not to give any additional info. I told them to "SERVE ME' as they threaten so that I will at least have the documentation but they havent yet and they have been calling for 4 months.
- Kasey| 1 replyThey called me claiming my husband owed on a payday loan, and wanted to help me settle this without having to go to court, and to help save me money now before they gave to garnish his wages,
Is this legal? Is this real?? Can they garnish his wages?? We haven't received anything in the mail but this "john green" knew our old address but that was all he knew.- Caller: legal debt mediation llc

- Constantine Smith replies to heather mack| 1 replyHow can Legal Debt Mediation be stop
- Alfalfa replies to Constantine SmithHow can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
