I got a call from this number and they said in not obligated to pay this debt with them but if we go court and the plantif win I will have to pay the money they posted to sue me plus the money I debt

I just got a call and left a message right now just like "Bacon" saying: "This is John Thomas from Legal Process Services, and we have been retained to process legal paperwork under my name and social security number this is a very serious legal matter and that i can reach him at 312-971-6237." When I called back he ask for what number did he call, but not my name. Then he ask for a John Egeled (Something like that) and i said no and he said thank you and he hung up. a total scam...

Got this message too

"Yes, my name is David leave with legal Processing Services had a very important legal matter putting my office attached to your social. I can be reached at (312) 971-6237. Again, that's 23129716237 extension 2528 and please reference, case number 2014 dash 25572. Thank you. Have a wonderful day."

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

I just got the same scam voicemail.  Do not answer or acknowledge these people.  They are not legit and they can't do anything to you.

Left a message saying that his name is John Thomas with Legal Processing Services looking to settle a very "serious matter". 4 years and counting since I began to receive these spam phone calls. I am just hoping that someday it will all stop.

If they dont/refuse to give you a legal mailing address, they are ILLEGAL SCAMMERS.  DONT BE FOOLED BY THESE THIEVES.

HUGE illegal scammers.  Ask them for their address and they hang up on you!  Not are they illegal but extremely unprofessional low life rats. Pay them no mind. I called them back 20 times in a row, not one of them would give me (a) their legal name  and (b) their legal mailing address.  I called so much, all of a sudden their # wasnt workingm Maybe they blocked my phone #, yet they want my money? Hahahaha FAIL!

I didn't get this call but my girlfriend did, a guy name John Thomas called, he never used her name and pretty much left the same msg. So I called the number and asked a few questions and they seem legit. I looked up the company and found 2 different websites with the same name offering pretty much the same services neither site number matched  so I called the less attractive site because it had an 800# and a lady told me that they were going back n forth with the other company about using their verbiage and name.  A lot of red flags comes up from the call and all the information im gathering but both sites seem legit and the other has a legit license for PI detective work. It could be a scam I don't know we forgot to call again last night but I will call again today and tell you guys what I found out. For now I feel like maybe companies are trying to get some monies from owed debt before the 7yr mark hits and it can be legally cleared they guy said that they are a firm for credit card companies and others to basically track ppl down and sue them.

I just got the same exact voice message from a John Thomas...word for word, and from the same exact number.  I deleted the message.  He didn't even say the name of the person he was trying to reach, etc.  I am treating it as a SCAM.  There's no reason or proof provided whatsoever to believe any of that message.

SCAM. MrNumber blocked it as suspected spam before my phone rang. LOVE the MrNumber app!

Same call as everyone else.  John Thomas.  How can these scammers be stopped?

I received the exact same message, word for word.  Thank goodness for sites like these where we can all reach out to one another. I am treating this as a scam.

So, this is a scare tatic.  First of all, companies do not leave messages with this is legal processing.  They need to give a firm name and even if so, its trying to scare people into giving out their bank account information.  I have paid off all my old debts, including the ones these jokers are trying to collect on (it's generally on PayDay Loans).  They will call from different numbers, Chicago, Arizona, California all with the same messages.  Also, these companies continue to sell debts to people even after paying them off.  They will eventually leave you alone from that number and call from a different number with the same messages.  I spoke to a lawyer before and these people are scum bags.  Do not give them a cent.  I've never received paperwork.  


As far as the fax goes, this is a shame tatic to try to shame the individual into paying them.  They can not garnish your paycheck unless it's for unpaid student loans and child support.  They figure if your employer receives this fax, you will be shamed into paying them.

Trust me, I have done my research and spoke to appropriate legal representation.  Scum of the EARTH, DO NOT PAY!  Also another helpful hint--these do not appear on credit reports (mostly because some states consider payday loans illegal).

If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

Got a call from this number saying they were Social Security.  This is scam and the girl on the line was very rude and would not let me talk to "John Thomas."
