- spIt may be legit or it may not be. In my case, it was a legit call. I called the number on the back of my debit card and talked to a representative.
The message said they had re-issued me a debit card. I hadn't requested one so I called to verify that it was a real call. The BOA representative confirmed they had sent me a new card because I had used my card a location that reported themselves being compromised.
I was able to confirm no suspicious activity had occurred on my card but they had re-issued just to be safe. So as others have said, if you have a question call the number on the back of your bank card and confirm if the call is legit or not. - BryanThe # is the same as one on the back of my card. But lady at customer service didn't see anything weird on my account. Looks like a scam to me.
- B of A customerThis is a legit automated call from Bank of America. I called them yesterday to let them know I will be traveling overseas this week and that I will be using my debit card in foreign ATMs. It was an automated call thanking me for notifying them of my travel plans and to use the collect call number on the back of my card if I encounter any problems with my card while traveling.

- Arysta| 1 replyGot a call from them saying the following: "This is Bank of America with a very important message regarding your debit card. We were recently notified that information from some Debit cards may have been compromised at a merchant or service provider. In order to help protect your account, we sent you a new debit card with a new number and will be deactivating your old debit card. This call is remind you to activate your new debit card immediately to avoid disruption in service. To activate your new debit card, please follow the instructions on the front of the debit card. If you have not received your debit card or have any questions, please call the number on the back of your debit card. Thank you for being a valued Bank of America Customer. " (thank you Google Voice for the easy copy/paste)... They didn't want any info and didn't even want me to call back. Not sure how this could possibly be fraudulent.

- DanaGot a call from this number. It is Bank of America. I tried to buy a lot of merchandise when I went to Canada. They stopped my transaction and called me from this number to make sure that it's me who is paying. Thank you Bank of America for protecting my identity.

- AmySo, the reason I am getting this call on a Sunday, right after freaking arab hackers got hold of the websites is? My cell phone number isn't even on my bank of america account! Didn't answer, no message left. Called back to see and got automated system. Not inputting my information into that, that's for sure! Will call bank when it is open!
- Caller: BOA
- CDKingI called B of A a few days ago using the 800 number as they were blocking a transaction. After i cleared that up i tried to make my purchase again. I immediatley received a call from the 315 number alerting me to the suspicious activity. It did not ask for personal information and did not connect me with an agent. It read off the charges to me and told me to press a button confirming or denying that i made the purchase. All were valid transactions i made.
During the call i made a few days ago, I mentioned that I will be traveling over the weekend. I receive a call from the 315 number this morning thanking me for notifying them and gave 877-833-5617 to call if I had any questions (877 number is the same one B of A had given me last year to call the fraud department). I did think it was a little odd considering i never get automated calls after i call in travel information.
Its possible other reports could be fraudulent by maybe a spoofed caller ID. The best advice is not to give away personal info on inbound calls. Always call a number on your statement when responding to a call like this.- Caller: Bank of America
- Call type: Event reminder
- CDKing replies to Fraud SquadIts probably a spoofed number issue. You can change your outgoing caller ID info if you have the right know how. Some of the calls are legit and some are not. If they are asking for personal info like some fo the reports its a scam. The number is also being used for legitimate BofA issues.
I did find some articles from a few years ago via google that he 315 number is no longer in service and that BofA didnt seem to interested in updating the cards. Its possible BofA automated system is still sending the old number. That combined with Spoofing could explain why some are legit and some are not.
As is the best bet. Use the number on your statement or on the bank of america website. - JoJo LuiI am not sure if anyone will see my message.
And I just want to share some of my thoughts.
I think this number can be an indicator of "something has happened to your BofA account".
I will not call this number to solve whatever that problem is but calling the BofA directly. - isabel replies to ArystaI just got the exact same VM.
- VeronicaJust got a call from them. I didn't answer.
- BOA memberit is a scam!
Do not call them! cyber police should track them down. I don't know what they are doing. - KellyI got a call from the company but didn't answer and no VM was left. And considering that a lot of others have said this is a fake I don't plan on answering it back. If something is up I've gotten direct calls, mail, and e-mails.
- Stop callingSecond attempt at calling and silenced my phone. Not picking up for a number that can't leave a VM.
- Stop callingThey actually left a VM this time around. Only problem is I no longer have the card that they are calling about for unusual activity because the real BOA already replaced my card. So no luck in trying to use my dead card number. Can't wait till karma catches up to.
- cmwNot legit. I don't have a BoA card and I have never been a customer of BoA.
- Caller: BoA????
- ricthe number is on the back of your card. they just called me. they asked for my email address, which is strangely spelled, to confirm. i did not bother to spell it and they didnt care, so they obviously knew it already. i looked the number up on google and got this thread. i then called the travel/fraud number that was posted on what was i think the first page of this forum (i have called this number before and it was in my phone) and i said 'hey i got this call purporting to be bank of america but i didnt know the number it just seemed weird' and then i told the person the number and what happened and she said it was fine.
i think they base a lot of their call stuff in the south because both people i talked to had southern accents. i dont remember what my calls with them before were like - Xx replies to Char| 18 repliesCan't you friggin' read? Read the other posts and stop being a SHILL
- XxThis number does NOT belong to BoA. It's a scam just to get what ever info they can and then they'll call again to try and get different info HOW MANY TIMES HAVE THEY CALLED YOU?
- JoeThis is a legit message. My card was compromised when I called. They only asked for my name and then read me 3 of my recent transactions and asked if I had authorized them (they were payments to a EU country). They said they would close my card (which is true, it no longer works at ATMs) and that I would receive a new one in the mail (which I did). This IS NOT a scam.
